Study of an Electromagnetic Wave Transmission Line Based on Coupled Dielectric Resonators
摘要: An analog of an optical waveguide in the form of a chain of metallic nanoparticles has been investigated using modified cylindrical dielectric resonators in the microwave band. Similar to the plasma oscillations in spherical nanoparticles, the two lowest resonances of the dielectric resonator correspond to the dipole and quadrupole oscillatory modes. It is shown that a waveguide consisting of seven resonators exhibits high frequency selective properties and relatively low loss if the resonances of the quadrupole oscillatory modes are used to form its passband. The characteristics of the investigated waveguide remain almost unchanged at its bending by 90°, and the cross section of localization of the main part of the energy propagating in the waveguide is smaller than the electromagnetic wavelength by a factor of five, which approximately corresponds to the optical waveguides based on plasma oscillations in nanoparticles.

DESIGN OF 2D METAL PHOTONIC CRYSTAL ARRAY OF DIRECTIONAL RADIATION IN MICROWAVE BAND
摘要: A 2D metal photonic crystal structure with a rectangular lattice is designed for directed wave propagation in the microwave frequency band. The dispersion curve of EPC is computed for designing the directed period array. In order to favor the computing, the rectangular period array is studied, which is di?erent from the reference that is designed in optical range and uses the dielectric rods and hexagonal structure to compose the period array. The computed dispersion curves are combined with the theory of ?nite thick period array for obtaining the directed wave propagation structure. The in?uence of the number of metal rods on the antenna directionality is investigated, and the simulation results are compared and analyzed. It is found that when the number of transverse metal rods increases, the directionality of the antenna is enhanced, and the radiant power of the sidelobe radiation can be reduced. Based on the simulation results, the actual 2D metal photonic crystal array is constructed for the measurement validation. According to measurement results, the antenna located in the center of the array can get good directionality at 3.1 GHz.

Relativistic Backward-Wave Oscillator with Parallel Wave Interaction
摘要: We study operation of a backward-wave oscillator (BWO) in the regime of parallel amplification of rotating waves with different azimuth indices. It is shown that in the linear case, the use of the parallel wave interaction principle allows one to enhance the BWO gain significantly as compared with a classical backward-wave oscillator. An option for using parallel amplification in high-power sectioned amplifiers is proposed.
