    摘要: This paper presents first the performance analysis of the state-of-the-art multi-channel SAR signal reconstruction algorithms that suffer from the geometrical approximations. Then, it proposes a two-step signal reconstruction method for spaceborne large along-track baseline multistatic SAR constellations operated with a pulse repetition frequency (PRF) under the Nyquist rate. The suggested algorithm first applies a bulk polychromatic reconstruction in wavenumber domain and then compensates the residual range variance in range-Doppler domain. This simple modification helps to reduce overall phase errors in the reconstruction process of the analysed case with respect to the state-of-the-art algorithms by about one order of magnitude. The performance of the algorithm is verified by showing the results in point target simulations for a multistatic X-band constellation with a resolution of about 15 times the carrier wavelength.

    摘要: Due to finite of information dimension of single bistatic synthetic aperture radar (SAR), to expand more information about ground objects we research multistatic SAR which can be decomposed into groups of bistatic SAR. It is known that scattering properties of the different viewing angles is different. In this paper, we focus on system of single transmitter and triple receivers and use polar format algorithm (PFA) to obtain images of ground objects for the triple receivers. A geometric distortion correction method is proposed due to elevation of ground objects. After the distortion correction, the three SAR images are registrated, then we put images into red, green, blue (RGB) channels respectively to realize fake color synthesis, and thus realize information fusion.

  • Estimation and Removal of Strong Range Ambiguities in Multistatic Synthetic Aperture Radar With Multiple Elevation Beams

    摘要: Bistatic and multistatic synthetic aperture radar (SAR) can greatly improve system performance in various aspects, especially in achieving high-resolution wide-swath (HRWS) images. However, the specific system structure may lead to a higher degree of range ambiguities. This letter studies the structure of multistatic multiple elevation beams (MMEB) system which achieves HRWS images with the drawback of more serious range ambiguities compared with the conventional SAR which must be suppressed to get an acceptable system performance. The character that the receivers form, a prospective distributed multichannel system in azimuth, can give a guide in estimating the strong range ambiguities and remove them. An innovative method in estimating and removing (not just smearing) the strong range ambiguities based on this character is proposed. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show the effectiveness of the method. The proposed method considerably improves the range ambiguous performance of the MMEB system without using digital beamforming or pulse coding and makes full use of the system character, and thus improves the applicability of the system.

  • Low Complexity Algorithm for Range-Point Migration-Based Human Body Imaging for Multistatic UWB Radars

    摘要: High-resolution, short-range sensors that can be applied in optically challenging environments (e.g., in the presence of clouds, fog, and/or dark smog) are in high demand for various applications. Ultrawideband radar is a promising sensor that is suitable for short-range surveillance or watching sensors. Range-point migration (RPM) has been recently established as a promising imaging approach to achieve accurate and real-time 3-D imaging. However, when objects with many scattering points are dealt with, such as a human body, RPM suffers from high computational costs. In this letter, we propose an algorithm with a lower complexity for an RPM-based 3-D imaging method by introducing a sampling-based scattering center extraction with a simpli?ed evaluation function, in which an ef?cient sample pattern is provided by a golden ratio. The results from a ?nite-difference time-domain-based numerical test, which introduces a realistic human body object, demonstrate that our proposed method remarkably reduces the computational cost without sacri?cing the reconstruction accuracy.

In this letter, we show experimental results of aircraft positioning by using the signal delay profile of DTTB whose type is Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting–Terrestrial (ISDB-T) used in Japan. It will be shown that the ISDB-T signal delays are useful surveillance systems.

  • Attitude Estimation for Space Targets by Exploiting the Quadratic Phase Coefficients of Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar Imagery

    摘要: This paper proposes a novel approach to interpreting the satellite attitude based on inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) images. In the conventional viewpoint, quadratic and higher order phase terms of ISAR imagery are regarded as negative factors causing the defocusing phenomenon. In this paper, we introduce how to apply quadratic phase coefficients to estimate target attitude from the ISAR imagery. A geometric projection model of ISAR imaging is built according to radar line of sight, and an explicit expression is also derived to connect target attitude parameters and the image defocusing property. With the accommodation of Broyden–Fletcher–Goldfarb–Shanno algorithm, spatial-variant quadratic phase coefficients together with attitude parameters are determined by an image contrast maximization. We also extend the proposed algorithm to multistatic ISAR applications, where the quadratic phase information lying in simultaneous multistatic ISAR images can be mined to enhance the performance of target attitude estimation. Experimental results illustrate the feasibility of the proposed algorithm.
