  • Soliton slow light for closed loop quantum systems

    摘要: This paper describes the dynamics of solitonic pulse propagation in a closed loop quantum system comprised of five atomic energy levels. Although the propagation of an intense probe pulse suffers losses and broadening in linear regime, there exist specific conditions where the probe pulse is found to become robust during its propagation. We attribute this regime to the formation of an optical soliton with a slow group velocity because of the balance between the dispersion and Kerr optical nonlinearity. Results obtained are based on the theoretical model using the coupled Maxwell-Bloch equations for the nonlinear propagation.

  • Multi-soliton propagation in generalized inhomogeneous NLS equation with symmetric potentials

    摘要: We investigate the generalized inhomogeneous NLS equation with symmetric potentials. Corresponding Lax pair is constructed through AKNS procedure. Based on the obtained Lax pair, one and two soliton solutions are generated via Darboux transformation technique. Using the obtained soliton solution, the impact of symmetric potentials on soliton dynamics is investigated. By tailoring the dispersion and nonlinearity coefficients, propagation properties of solitons are analyzed. Especially, properties of oscillating solitons and tunneling behavior are investigated. From the results, we have found that the symmetric potentials have strong influence on soliton dynamics such as period of oscillations, interaction behavior etc. Obtained results open a new window to controlling the soliton through symmetric potentials.

  • Optical solitons to Kundu–Eckhaus equation in the context of birefringent fibers by using of trial equation methodology

    摘要: The current paper studies pretty important optical solitons namely bright as well as singular solitons in birefringent fibers through the governing model known as Kundu–Eckhaus equation which is coupled system and is modeled for soliton transmission along birefringent fibers. In order to get such solitons, the trial equation algorithm is employed. Also, singular-periodic solutions in addition to optical solitons are revealed by reversed restriction circumstances.

  • Optical bright and dark soliton solutions for coupled nonlinear Schr??dinger (CNLS) equations by the variational iteration method

    摘要: This paper studies optical bright and dark soliton solutions for coupled nonlinear Schr¨odinger (CNLS) equations in the anomalous and dispersive regimes. We operate the variational iteration method (VIM) to derive a set of diverse types of bright and dark optical soliton solutions. The VIM gives the solution in a rapidly convergent series without any need for physical restrictions or changing the nonlinearity issue. The presented analysis shows the pertinent features of the VIM method in handling nonlinear evolution equations.

  • Perturbed nonlinear Schr??dinger dynamical wave equation with Kerr media in nonlinear optics via optical solitons

    摘要: In this paper, we have presented the analytical analysis of integrable perturbed nonlinear Schr¨odinger (PNLSE) equation with third-order dispersion (TOD) in Kerr media using our newly proposed technique, extended modi?ed auxiliary equation mapping method. By the implementation of this technique, we have obtained a variety of some new families and more general form of exact traveling wave solutions including triangular-type solutions, periodic and doubly periodic-like solutions, combined soliton-like solutions, kink and anti-kink type soliton-like solutions using three parameters which is the key di?erence of our newly proposed method. PNLSE is a well-known governing model to study the propagation of optical solitons in nonlinear optical ?bers and other telecommunication networks with a type of Kerr law nonlinearity. This particular type of nonlinearity originates when a light wave in an optical ?ber is subjected to nonlinear responses. For graphical representation of our newly found results, we have presented them with detailed dynamical physical representation using Mathematica 10.4 to explain in a more e?cient manner the behavior of di?erent physical structures of solutions. Also, the computational work and e?ciency of the method demonstrate the reliability, straightforwardness, and simplicity of the technique for solving other nonlinear complicated partial di?erential equations.

  • Exact optical solitons of Radhakrishnan–Kundu–Lakshmanan equation with Kerr law nonlinearity

    摘要: A new generalized exponential rational function method (GERFM) is used to acquire some new optical solitons of Radhakrishnan–Kundu–Lakshmanan (RKL) equation with Kerr nonlinearity. This equation is used to model propagation of solitons through an optical fiber. The well-known exponential rational function method is also a special case of the GERFM. The results reveal that the mentioned method is efficient and simple for solving different nonlinear partial differential equations.

  • Soliton generation in optical fiber networks

    摘要: We consider the problem of soliton generation in branched optical fibers. A model based on the nonlinear Schrodinger equation on metric graphs is proposed. Number of generated solitons is computed for different branching topologies considering different initial pulse profiles. Experimental realization of the model is discussed.

  • Soliton Behaviours for the Conformable Spacea??Time Fractional Complex Ginzburga??Landau Equation in Optical Fibers

    摘要: In this work, we investigate the conformable space–time fractional complex Ginzburg–Landau (GL) equation dominated by three types of nonlinear effects. These types of nonlinearity include Kerr law, power law, and dual-power law. The symmetry case in the GL equation due to the three types of nonlinearity is presented. The governing model is dealt with by a straightforward mathematical technique, where the fractional differential equation is reduced to a ?rst-order nonlinear ordinary differential equation with solution expressed in the form of the Weierstrass elliptic function. The relation between the Weierstrass elliptic function and hyperbolic functions enables us to derive two types of optical soliton solutions, namely, bright and singular solitons. Restrictions for the validity of the optical soliton solutions are given. To shed light on the behaviour of solitons, the graphical illustrations of obtained solutions are represented for different values of various parameters. The symmetrical structure of some extracted solitons is deduced when the fractional derivative parameters for space and time are symmetric.

  • Nonlinear Fiber Optics || Optical solitons

    摘要: A fascinating manifestation of the fiber nonlinearity occurs through optical solitons, formed as a result of the interplay between the dispersive and nonlinear effects. The word soliton refers to special kinds of wave packets that can propagate undistorted over long distances. Solitons have been discovered in many branches of physics. This chapter focuses on pulse propagation inside optical fibers in the regime in which both the group-velocity dispersion (GVD) and self-phase modulation (SPM) are equally important and must be considered simultaneously. It is organized as follows. Section 5.1 considers the phenomenon of modulation instability and shows that propagation of a continuous-wave (CW) beam inside optical fibers is inherently unstable and may convert the CW beam into pulse train under appropriate conditions. The inverse-scattering method is discussed in Section 5.2 together with the soliton solutions. The properties of the fundamental and higher-order solitons are also discussed in this section. Section 5.3 is devoted to other kinds of solitons, with emphasis on dark solitons. Section 5.4 considers the effects of external perturbations on solitons. Perturbations discussed include fiber losses, amplification of solitons, and noise introduced by optical amplifiers. Higher-order nonlinear effects such as self-steepening and intrapulse Raman scattering are the focus of Sections 5.5 and 5.6.

  • Formation of optical supramolecular structures in a fibre laser by tailoring long-range soliton interactions

    摘要: Self-assembly of fundamental elements through weak, long-range interactions plays a central role in both supramolecular DNA assembly and bottom-up synthesis of nanostructures. Optical solitons, analogous in many ways to particles, arise from the balance between nonlinearity and dispersion and have been studied in numerous optical systems. Although both short- and long-range interactions between optical solitons have attracted extensive interest for decades, stable soliton supramolecules, with multiple aspects of complexity and flexibility, have thus far escaped experimental observation due to the absence of techniques for enhancing and controlling the long-range inter-soliton forces. Here we report that long-range soliton interactions originating from optoacoustic effects and dispersive-wave radiations can be precisely tailored in a fibre laser cavity, enabling self-assembly of large numbers of optical solitons into highly-ordered supramolecular structures. We demonstrate several features of such optical structures, highlighting their potential applications in optical information storage and ultrafast laser-field manipulation.
