[Lecture Notes in Electrical Engineering] Recent Trends in Communication, Computing, and Electronics Volume 524 (Select Proceedings of IC3E 2018) || Notch-Loaded Patch Antenna with Multiple Shorting for X and Ku Band Applications
摘要: A compact two notch-loaded patch antenna with multiple shorting pins for X and Ku band applications is presented. Two different substrates FR-4 and RT Duroid 5880 are used to compare the antenna characteristics. Multiple shorting pins are used to enhance the bandwidth and gain of antenna. Volume of the proposed antenna is 785 mm3, and it resonates at 10.5 GHz and 14.65 GHz with impedance bandwidth of 10.2% and 6.49% and gain of 7.42 dBi and 12 dBi, respectively. This antenna is useful for X band and Ku band applications.

摘要: This paper presents low cost, low complexity, dual-circularly polarized patch antenna designs. The aperture coupled antennas employ simple square slotline loop elements to provide surface current cancellation in the critical regions of the antenna structure. High isolation (below 50 dB) is then obtained between the two antenna inputs, one for each polarization state. Circular polarization (CP) is produced thanks to the use of a planar hybrid coupler, feeding the antenna with two quadrature signals. Reciprocity of these components allows for the use of one port as the input (Tx) and the other one as an output (Rx), making the antenna work in full duplex mode. Also, both right-hand and left-hand circular polarizations are possible by interchanging the Tx and Rx ports, bringing a valuable degree of versatility. The proposed antenna design is also grouped in a 2x2 array for operation at C band (2.45 GHz), and its corresponding results are reported. Possible applications for the single-element and the low profile array include modern short range wireless communications, polarization diversity, direction finding, radar, and other beam steering array applications.

摘要: This paper presents a miniaturized inverted C shaped patch antenna with defected ground structure (DGS), which exhibits an axial ratio bandwidth (ARBW) of 1.1 GHz (from 11.79 GHz to 12.89 GHz) within an impedance bandwidth (IBW) of 6.9 GHz (from 9.1 GHz to 16 GHz), with a maximum realized gain of 3.23 dBi. The antenna size is only 15x10x1.524 mm3. These features make the proposed antenna the best candidate for compactness wireless applications such as radar, satellite communications, and wireless computer networks.

摘要: In this study, a single-fed circularly polarized (CP) patch antenna working at 1.23 GHz is presented and realized. The quality factor of patch antenna is driven by its input impedance. The proposed patch antenna is properly combined with an actual pacemaker for enhancement of its radiation performance. Another patch antenna with miniaturized size is designed, fabricated, and tested. The simulated results are found in good agreement with its measured one.

摘要: A novel water dense dielectric patch antenna (DDPA) fed by an L-shaped probe is proposed and investigated. In contrast to the water antennas in the literature, including the water monopole and the water dielectric resonator antenna, the operation mechanism of the proposed water DDPA is similar to the conventional metallic patch antenna. The antenna is excited in a mode like the TM10 mode of the rectangular patch antenna. An L-shaped probe, which is widely used for the conventional patch antenna, is used to excite the water DDPA. A study on the bandwidth performance of the proposed design reveals that wide bandwidth can be achieved for the antenna by choosing a thick supporting substrate between the water patch and the ground plane. A prototype is fabricated to con?rm the correctness of the design. An impedance bandwidth of 8%, maximum gain of 7.3 dBi, radiation ef?ciency up to 70%, and symmetrically unidirectional patterns with low backlobe and low cross polarization levels are obtained. Furthermore, owing to the transparency of the water patch, the proposed water DDPA can be conveniently integrated with the solar cells to realize a dual-function design. Measurements on the prototype demonstrate that the existence of the solar cells does not signi?cantly affect the performance of the antenna and vice versa.

Nano-scale multifunctional logic gate based on graphene/hexagonal boron nitride plasmonic waveguides
摘要: A new probe-fed patch antenna with polarization recon?guration is presented in this paper. The antenna is composed of a circular radiating patch and a switchable feed network. By controlling the operating states of four pairs of PIN diodes in the feed network, the feed point of the circular patch can be switched. Therefore, a recon?guration between four linear polarization directions at a 45? interval (22.5?, 67.5?, 112.5?, and 157.5?) can be realized. All the different polarization states own similar matching and radiation characteristics. Simulated and measured results indicate that the antenna can achieve recon?gurable quadri-polarization diversity features with an invariable operating frequency and excellent radiation performance, which are very attractive for wireless communications. In addition, the proposed design can offer more recon?gurable linear polarization directions by adding more switchable paths in the feed network.
