    摘要: This paper describes the design and demonstration of planar transmit-arrays operating in X-band with 1-bit phase quantization and based on wideband high efficiency unit cells. The unit cell consists of two identical square patch antennas loaded by C-loop slots and interconnected in their centers by a metalized via hole. The proposed transmit-array achieves a maximum directivity of 25.1 dBi and a gain of 22.8 dBi. Radiation efficiency of 56.3% is also obtained with a 1-dB gain bandwidth of up to 9.2% around 9.85 GHz and very low cross-polarization levels. The beam-steering up to 30° is achieved by tilting the focal source.

  • Antena de Parche Cortocircuitado con Polarización Circular y Sentido de Giro Reconfigurable para Aplicaciones en Satélites de Reducido Tama?o

    摘要: This paper presents the design and characterization of a circular microstrip patch antenna, fed by a hybrid quadrature coupler to achieve reconfigurable circular polarization. The radiating element has a radius of 20.3mm and the overall dimensions of the antenna are 76mm x 76mm X 2.03mm, suitable to attaching it to one of the faces of a satellite (CubeSat 1U). The measurement results of the prototype show a maximum gain of ??0 = 6,04?????? and axial ratio bandwidth of 48.56MHz (2%) respect to 2dB at the center frequency of ??0 = 2,44??????; an impedance bandwidth of 27.44% respect to the magnitude of the reflection coefficient of ??11 < ?10 ????, in the range of 2,295GHz to 3,025GHz at the center frequency of ??0 = 2,44??????.

    摘要: In this paper, we present a 5G base station phased array antenna concept based on the power flux equalization in the elevation plane. We designed an aperture- coupled microstrip patch sub-array fed by a substrate integrated waveguide to produce a cosecant radiation pattern in the elevation plane. The antenna is designed to be operational at frequencies around 28.5GHz, targeting a candidate 5G mm-wave frequency band. The dimensions of the cosecant antenna sub-array support wide-angle scanning of the final phased array antenna in the horizontal plane. The antenna exhibits good impedance and radiation properties in the scanning range +/- 45deg.

    摘要: A superwide band (SWB) microstrip fractal antenna for 5G communication is proposed in this paper and a snow?ake like structure is achieved using star shaped fractal geometry. The con?guration of the proposed design has a substrate of Rogers RT5880 having thickness of 0.787mm, dielectric constant of 2.2 and loss tangent of 0.0009. The presented antenna is simulated using CST Microwave studio and parameters of the proposed structure are optimized so that it is suitable to be operated in the frequency range from 17.22GHz to 180GHz with the fractional bandwidth of 165%. The overall dimension of the antenna is just 20mm×20mm which is very compact. The peak gain of 10dBi and average gain of 6.4dBi is acquired and over all appreciated gain is maintained throughout the entire range. Result curves such as S-parameter, VSWR, radiation pattern, gain and Input impedance have been depicted and discussed in the paper.

    摘要: Highly integrated multilayered patch antenna arrays are proposed in this paper for 60 GHz wireless communications. Electromagnetic coupling between two stacked patches is used for improving the broadband performance. Three different structures of single column 4-element arrays are presented with center and corporate feeding networks. Maximum gain of 12.2 dBi and <-10 dB return loss in the entire unlicensed frequency band 57-66 GHz is measured. Furthermore, a compact 4x16 antenna array (41 mm x 13 mm) is presented with 18.7 dBi maximum gain, 8 GHz (57-65) bandwidth and 7? HPBW (half power beam width) in H plane.

  • Multiplexed OAM Wave Communication with Two-OAM-Mode Antenna Systems

    摘要: In order to improve channel capacity, waves carrying orbital angular momentum (OAM) in communication systems have attracted much attention. A two-OAM-mode antenna system, which works at 2.4 GHz, is proposed in this paper. And a signal transmission experiment is performed based on a pair of the proposed antenna systems. The proposed antenna system, which has the planar structure, is composed of two patch antenna arrays, two feeding networks and one common ground plane. Then, re?ection coef?cients, transmission coef?cients, radiation patterns and phase distributions of the proposed antenna system are measured and the measurement results verify the effectiveness of this antenna system in generating two OAM modes (OAM mode 1 and OAM mode 2). The measurement results are in good agreement with the simulation results. Then the signal transmission system is built based on a pair of the proposed antenna systems. Isolation between OAM mode 1 transceiver channel and OAM mode 2 transceiver channel is more than 20 dB. Video signals modulated by FBMC (Filter Bank Multicarrier) are de-modulated simultaneously at the receiving terminal. It means that the two-OAM-mode antenna system has the potential to enhance the channel capacity.

  • [Lecture Notes in Electrical Engineering] Recent Trends in Communication, Computing, and Electronics Volume 524 (Select Proceedings of IC3E 2018) || Study the Effect of Ground on Circular Loop Patch Antenna (CLPA)

    摘要: This proposed article presents multiband circular ring loop patch antenna (CLPA). The design is simulated using HFSS tool and studied by varying the ground patch size (area). The substrate material FR-4 is used and studied for the frequency range from 1 to 30 GHz in the proposed article. After analysing the effect of change in ground (GND), it is found that multiband characteristics slightly change in terms of S11 (dB) parameter below 20 GHz and above 20 GHz bandwidth increases. The CLPA shows eight to ten resonating frequency bands. Simulated data show ?40.98 (dB) re?ection coef?cient at the frequency 15.88 GHz in design 1; similarly, design 2, design 3, design 4, design 5, and design 6 obtain maximum re?ection coef?cient ?33.76 (dB) at 10.70 GHz, ?37.27 (dB) at 27.65 GHz, ?36.43 (dB) at 10.70 GHz, ?37.08 (dB) at 21.33 GHz, and ?29.11 (dB) at 15.35 GHz. The proposed antenna can be applied in numerous wireless applications by selecting different ground size.

    摘要: Global Navigation System-Reflectometry (GNSS-R), has gained increasing interests as an efficient tool for remote sensing. It is based on the concept of utilizing the received signals reflected from the Earth’s surface. Several GNSS-R system configurations were proposed depending on different retrieval algorithms. In a GNSS-R system, the antenna plays a key role as a receiving component. In this paper, in-situ measurements using a commercial dual circular polarized antenna receiving both the left-hand and right-hand circular polarization reflected from the ground are analyzed. A low cost and compact dual-port circular polarized patch antenna is designed and realized to overcome the limitations of the previous configuration. The prototype shows a low level of cross polarization suitable for GNSS-R application.

    摘要: A miniaturized square microstrip patch antenna (MPA) is analyzed and designed using the theory of characteristic mode (TCM). The TCM is applied to investigate and adjust the current distribution of the lowest resonance mode that the square patch can support. Based on the current distribution of the concerned mode, the two opposite edges of the patch where the characteristic current mainly concentrates on are curved with quadratic function curves. Then stubs are periodically loaded on the curved-edges, and the current along the curved-edges occurs slight changes. At last, two apertures are etched on the patch, and more current trends to flow along the edges of the apertures. The above three approaches are examined through TCM, and all lead to reduction of resonance frequency of concerned mode. After optimizing the position of the probe-fed, a 60% miniaturization in the size of the square MPA is achieved. The TCM is expected to provide more effective guidance in antenna miniaturization design.

    摘要: Global System Reflectometry (GNSS-R) is a passive sensing method to measure properties of the Earth’s surface, of oceans, or of the atmosphere by analyzing reflected navigation signals from GNSS satellites such as GPS (Global Positioning System). The reflected signals can be measured with ground based, air borne, or space based sensors, and the applications reach from altimetry, ocean wind retrieval, soil moisture to vegetation growth analysis. The principle of GNSS-R was presented a few decades ago. Meanwhile, GNSS-R is already used in ground based GNSS sites, performance analyses/demonstrations for in-orbit measurements are carried out, and orbit missions are ongoing. The present study introduces the concept and some of its variations. It describes initial and ongoing research, and it presents propagation aspects of a future CubeSat mission to measure the height of oceans and ice areas and study the sea ice extend. Finally, the design of a L-band patch antenna array is presented that will be used to detect both the direct and the reflected GNSS signals.
