摘要: Anti-reflective coatings (ARC) are commonly applied to photovoltaic (PV) modules in the solar industry to increase power and energy output. In addition to characterization of initial module power and angle of incidence modifier (IAM), it is important to verify that the expected gain is observed in commercial system operation. This analysis shows the increased performance of ARC First Solar CdTe PV modules compared to non-ARC equivalent modules in a commercial test in New South Wales, Australia. PPI analysis indicates a sustained ARC performance gain over time, suggesting good ARC durability. Detailed actual-expected analysis shows both array types performing at or above expected levels after almost 2 years in the field. ARC arrays show slightly greater benefit than predicted compared to non-ARC arrays.

A new TRNSYS type for thermosiphon flat-plate solar thermal collectors: validation and optimization procedure
摘要: This paper presents a new TRNSYS Type (called Type 99) which can be used for the energy assessment of thermosiphon Flat-Plate solar thermal Collectors (FPCs) for water heating. The accuracy of this new type is higher than the standard type (Type 45a) available in TRNSYS library, since the density and specific heat of water are estimated according to the operating fluid temperature. The results of a suitable experimental campaign are also presented for different commercial FPCs system layouts. The developed Type 99 is successfully validated, proven by the very good agreement achieved between the simulation and experimental results. By the new Type 99 a suitable Design of Experiment (DoE) analysis is carried out with the aim to assess the design and operating parameters mostly affecting the energy and economic performance of two types of FPCs. Specifically, collector pipe diameters, slope, storage tank volume, and thermal insulation thickness are investigated. The analysis is carried out for three case studies which refer to residential Domestic Hot Water (DHW) production applications and to three different European weather zones (Freiburg, Naples and Larnaca). For these case studies an optimization procedure is also carried out by varying the same design and operating parameters for two different objective functions: best energy behaviour [maximum Primary Energy Saving (PES)] and best economic performance [minimum Simple Pay Back (SPB)]. Interesting novel design criteria and encouraging economic results are obtained.

摘要: This paper addresses the performance of time-frequency based techniques for the detection of small ships (length less than 30m) under side-looking synthetic aperture radar (SAR) limiting conditions. The aim of this work is to assess this technique for improving TerraSAR-X (TS-X) near real time (NRT) ship detection service. The goals are achieved by processing both the co-polarized single look complex channels (HH and VV) of TS-X data where ships have been identified by their self-reporting messaging system. The results show that the target-to-clutter ratio does not improve significantly for the detection of small ships under the conditions investigated.

摘要: The variable nature of renewable energy sources, coupled with unpredictable changes in load, requires the simultaneous implementation of high power and high energy density storage systems. This work addresses dynamic modeling, a PV/Batteries/Ultra capacitor hybrid energy system connected to a DC load in a remote house located around the town of Rouyn Noranda (Quebec-Canada) during one day in winter period. The P&O MPPT control is used to extract the maximum power of a photovoltaic generator which is considered as the main energy source of the hybrid system. In this paper, batteries and ultra-capacitors (UC) are serving as an energy storage system (ESS) and a main source in winter period. The UC are used for facing high frequency variations of the load, such as in transient state, while the batteries are in charge of slow load/source variations. Classical control of battery current and ultra-capacitor current allows choosing the suitable storage element in order to face correctly the production/consummation variations. Classical PI control strategy is proposed in manner to stabilize the DC bus voltage by controlling the attached DC/DC bidirectional converters. Simulations during 00 AM to 3 PM (during a snowy day) are carried out using Matlab/Simulink which confirm the good performances of the hybrid system and associated control systems.

摘要: The dropping market prices of power generated from solar photovoltaics is making it an attractive option for decentralized power in the form of rooftop and ground mounted systems. In the present scenario, the presence of solar photovoltaics in the energy mix is continuously increasing. Thus, it is important to monitor the performance of these systems to identify deviations from expected performance and to maintain higher system efficiency. This paper presents the details of performance analysis study conducted on a 48 kWp rooftop solar PV system located in the Northern India monitored over a 1 year period. The actual measured values of system performance parameters are compared to results obtained from simulating the systems using the PVsyst software. The values estimated using PVsyst for performance ratio and yearly average of system efficiency are 82% and 13.67%. The yearly average value of CUF estimated is 16.14%.The results of this study can aid in providing a glimpse into the operation of solar PV systems operating in the North Indian climate and can help in carrying out future comparative studies. The results obtained in the current study are also compared with the performance parameters of other plants operating in India.

Photovoltaic Degradation Rate Affected by Different Weather Conditions: A Case Study Based on PV Systems in the UK and Australia
摘要: This article presents the analysis of degradation rate over 10 years (2008 to 2017) for six different photovoltaic (PV) sites located in the United Kingdom (mainly affected by cold weather conditions) and Australia (PV affected by hot weather conditions). The analysis of the degradation rate was carried out using the year-on-year (YOY) degradation technique. It was found that the degradation rate in the UK systems varies from ?1.05% and ?1.16%/year. Whereas a higher degradation ranging from ?1.35% to ?1.46%/year is observed for the PV systems installed in Australia. Additionally, it was found that in the Australian PV systems multiple faulty PV bypass diodes are present due to the rapid change in the ambient temperature and uneven solar irradiance levels influencing the PV modules. However, in cold weather conditions (such as in the Northern UK) none of the bypass diodes were damaged over the considered PV exposure period. Furthermore, the number of PV hot spots have also been observed, where it was found that in the UK-based PV systems the number of hot spotted PV modules are less than those found in the Australian systems. Finally, the analysis of the monthly performance ratio (PR) was calculated. It was found that the mean monthly PR is equal to 88.81% and 86.35% for PV systems installed in the UK and Australia, respectively.

Dual-Hop Mixed RF-UOW Communication System: A PHY Security Analysis
摘要: In this paper, the secrecy performance of a dual-hop mixed radio-frequency/underwater optical wireless communication (RF-UOWC) system is investigated. The considered system consists of one single antenna source node (S) communicating with one destination node (D), considered as the legitimate receiver, through an amplify-and-forward relay node equipped with multiple antennas for reception. Specifically, the relay receives the incoming signal from S via an RF link, applies maximal-ratio combining technique, amplifies the output combined signal with either a fixed gain or variable gain, and then forwards it to the destination via an UOWC link. The transmission protocol is performed under the eavesdropper’s attempt to overhear the RF link (i.e., S-R). We derive exact closed-form expressions for the system’s average secrecy capacity and the intercept probability in terms of Meijer’s G-function as well as the univariate and bivariate Fox’s H -functions. A complexity analysis is also performed to analyze the evaluation time of the derived analytical formulas as well as Monte Carlo simulation method complexity. Our derived analytical formulas present an efficient tool to depict the impact of some system and channel parameters on the secrecy performance, namely, the number of relay antennas, the number of eavesdropping nodes, relay gain, fading severity of RF links, and water turbulence severity of the UOWC link.

摘要: Supporting high data rate wireless connectivity among wearable devices in a dense indoor environment is challenging. This is primarily due to bandwidth scarcity when many users operate multiple devices simultaneously. The millimeter-wave (mmWave) band has the potential to address this bottleneck, thanks to more spectrum and less interference because of signal blockage at these frequencies. In this paper, we explain the potential and challenges associated with using mmWave for wearable networks. To provide a means for concrete analysis, we present a system model that admits easy analysis of dense, indoor mmWave wearable networks. We evaluate the performance of the system while considering the unique propagation features at mmWave frequencies, such as human body blockages and re?ections from walls. One conclusion is that the non-isotropy of the surroundings relative to a reference user causes variations in system performance depending on the user location, body orientation, and density of the network. The impact of using antenna arrays is quanti?ed through analytic closed-form expressions that incorporate antenna gain and directivity. It is shown that using directional antennas, positioning the transceiver devices appropriately, and orienting the human user body in certain directions depending on the user location result in gigabits-per-second achievable ergodic rates for mmWave wearable networks.

Spatially Resolved Performance Analysis for Perovskite Solar Cells
摘要: This review explores the current state of the art in spatially resolved characterization of mixed-halide perovskite solar cells. As the size of perovskite cells and modules continues to grow, quantification of the spatial distribution of key cell parameters will become increasingly valuable in predicting ultimate cell-level performance and tracking process homogeneity. Here, both high resolution microscopic approaches using scanning techniques and camera-based methods for full-area cell and/or module analysis are discussed. The value of this local data in predicting performance losses at the cell level is particularly emphasized. Measurable physical parameters sensitive to losses of voltage, current, fill factor, and efficiency are discussed together with selected experimental results. It is demonstrated that a combination of spatially resolved cell parameter mapping/imaging can be used to quantitatively discriminate various loss contributions at high resolution. The impact and control of inhomogeneities become particularly important when upscaling from small devices to large formats compatible with industrial mass production.

摘要: In this paper, the problem of joint multi-pitch and direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation for multichannel harmonic sinusoidal signals is considered. A spatio-temporal matrix signal model for a uniform linear array is defined, and then the ESPRIT method based on subspace techniques that exploits the invariance property in the time domain is first used to estimate the multi pitch frequencies of multiple harmonic signals. Followed by the estimated pitch frequencies, the DOA estimations based on the ESPRIT method are also presented by using the shift invariance structure in the spatial domain. Compared to the existing state-of-the-art algorithms, the proposed method based on ESPRIT without 2-D searching is computationally more efficient but performs similarly. An asymptotic performance analysis of the DOA and pitch estimation of the proposed method are also presented. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is illustrated on a synthetic signal as well as real-life recorded data.
