Effect of peak power enhancement of ferrite phase shifter from full-height to increased-height rectangular waveguide
摘要: In order to enhance the high-power performance of the ferrite phase shifter (PS), a method of increasing waveguide height is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. Dual-toroid geometry is utilized as a high-power structure. Two configurations of X-band PSs with full-height (FH) and increased-height (IH) waveguides are designed and fabricated while keeping other parameters consistent. Comparative analysis based on simulation and high-power experiments is conducted. The simulation results agree well with experiments. Compared with the FHPS, the IHPS can enhance the peak-power-capacity from 90 kW to 140 kW while maintaining almost the same insertion loss of 0.5 dB with a slight increase in differential phase shift from 360○ to 380○.

Wideband 180° Phase Shifter Using Parallel-Coupled Three-Line
摘要: In this letter, a wideband 180? phase shifter using a parallel-coupled three-line is demonstrated. The proposed phase shifter consists of a shorted coupled line and transmission line with shorted stubs. The bandwidth of the phase shifter is increased by a high coupling factor of the coupled line. When considering a coupling factor of 1, the bandwidth is in?nite and the phase error is zero. Therefore, we adopted a parallel-coupled three-line to ensure a high coupling factor. Given a limited coupling factor, the transmission line impedance is optimized for the widest bandwidth of the return loss. The designed 180? phase shifter exhibits a return loss of less than ?15 dB and a maximum phase error of less than 5? in the 1.14–2.79-GHz range and its fractional bandwidth is 83.9%.

A SiGe BiCMOS phase shifter based on quarter‐wave coupled resonators
摘要: This work presents the first example of monolithically integrated phase shifter based on a pass-band filter architecture. The proposed configuration was realized mapping a classical quarter-wave coupled filter circuit into its lumped element equivalent. Phase control is achieved by controlling the pass-band through tunable tanks employing varactor diodes. A demonstrator was prototyped in the 24 GHz ISM band using a 0.25μm SiGe BiCMOS technology. Experimental results show 180° of phase range and maximum transmission losses of 8 dB. The main feature of this configuration is that it allows controlling the transmission losses by design and that its size is extremely compact.

摘要: This paper presents a mm-wave fully differential coplanar waveguide (CPW) vertically-coupled lines coupler and a reflection type phase shifter (RTPS) based on the proposed coupler. The use of grounded strip line structure for vertical coupling in CPW based coupler provides not only the improved coupling properties than the edge coupling but also provides the opportunity of using surrounding area efficiently to reduce area. The proposed coupler and phase shifter are designed and fabricated in 45nm CMOS SOI technology. Measured insertion loss of the coupler is ~ 6 dB from 18 to 43 GHz. A digitally controlled parallel LC load is used for controlling the phase of the phase shifter. Measured phase tuning range is 115 degrees, with insertion loss variation of 4.5 to 9 dB, for a frequency range of 39 GHz to 45 GHz. Total drawn area of the phase shifter is 0.214 mm2. The area of the proposed RTPS is smaller than the recently published state-of-the-art structures.

摘要: In the measurement of high voltage loss, a voltage signal and a current signal which were nearly orthogonal to each other need to be measured accurately. If the phase of the voltage signal was shifted by 90° accurately, thus the phase angle between the voltage and the current would be nearly 0°. The two signals would be then easily to measure accurately together. A digital phase shifter was developed. The phase and the magnitude error of the digital phase shifter is less than 6 μrad and 110 × 10-6 up to 150 Hz and 120 V, respectively.

Ultra Low Phase Noise 10MHz Crystal Oscillators
摘要: This paper describes the design and implementation of low phase noise 10MHz Crystal Oscillators (using SC cut crystal resonators) which are being used as part of the chain of a local oscillator for use in compact atomic clocks. The design considerations and phase noise measurements are presented. The design includes a low noise transformer coupled differential amplifier, spurious resonance rejection filter and electronically tuned phase shifter. Phase noise measurements demonstrate a performance of -122dBc to -123dBc/Hz at 1Hz and -148dBc/Hz at 10Hz offsets. The phase noise at 1Hz offset is very similar to the phase noise produced by the low noise version of a doubled 5MHz BVA resonator based oscillators (Model number 8607) previously produced by Oscilloquartz. The noise floor of the oscillators presented in this paper is around -161dBc/Hz. These designs can be used as the reference oscillator to control the timing of many modern electronics systems.

摘要: This paper presents a design of phased array antenna using a full 360o and programmable continuous phase shifter based on angle of arrival techniques of indoor localization. This antenna system allows to electrically steer main beam direction smoothly, so the number of beams is independent of the number of antenna elements as previous research, and resolution for indoor localization system is improved. Antenna elements are fed through parallel feed network including Wilkinson power dividers and full 360o, continuous phase shifters. Radiation patterns, experimented from -45o to 45o in an anechoic chamber, show that the main beam direction is quite close to the desired direction in simulation, and the side lobe level is less than main beam about 10dB.

摘要: Losses in the phase shifters of phased arrays are one of the main limitations of these reconfigurable antennas. This contribution presents the design and measured results of variable phase shifters on triplicate suspended transmission lines in the microwave X-band for variable pointing radar applications. The antenna assembly remains passive and with a very low level of losses in the power distribution network and the phase shifters. PIN or varactor diodes are used to control the load on the transmission line. Each of these components has advantages and disadvantages that are discussed in the communication.
