    摘要: the features of modern methods for detecting and determining the coordinates of small unmanned aerial vehicles using a two-position ground radar system are considered. It is proposed to use the methods developed for multi-sensor radar systems. The limitations and advantages of the two-position radar system are shown. The main potential characteristics of the system and the corresponding restrictions on the conditions of its effective application are determined. Potential characteristics are obtained by simulation methods using mathematical models built on the basis of experimental data.

  • Polarization Diversity Technology Research in Passive Radar Based on Subcarrier Processing

    摘要: The work in this paper is divided into two parts. The first part is going to investigate the potential benefits of clutter suppression in polarization filtering technology. The performance of conventional polarization filter is limited by the complex electromagnetic environment. The subcarrier based polarization filter (SC-PF) enhances the robustness to the environmental disturbance. Experiment results show that the SC-PF has better clutter suppression performance compared with conventional polarization filter. The average signal to noise ratio (SNR) increases about 5 dB in airplane detection and about 8dB in drone detection. The other part is the preliminary analysis of target polarization characteristics. With the extraction of the polarization amplitude ratio (PAR) of the airplane and drone, the PAR characteristic of airplane is dramatically and the PAR characteristic of drone is relatively smooth. Therefore, the difference of PAR characteristics of different targets may be helpful in target classification and recognition.

  • Coherent Dual-Band Radar System Based on a Unique Antenna and a Photonics-based transceiver

    摘要: This work reports the development of a coherent dual-band radar system consisting of a FSS-based dual-band Focal-Point/Cassegrain parabolic antenna and a single photonics-based transceiver. The proposed antenna enables to simultaneously operate in the S- and X-bands due to the use of a FSS-based sub-reflector. Numerical and experimental results of the antenna reflection coefficient, radiation pattern and gain have been shown in excellent agreement for both frequency bands. Furthermore, the proposed dual-band antenna has been applied in conjunction with a photonics-based coherent dual-band radiofrequency transceiver operating in the same bands. Our innovative radar system has been properly validated by the detection and ranging of a commercial aircraft and a helicopter on a building roof, using S- and X-bands concurrently.
