摘要: Aquaculture is one of the fastest growing food sectors worldwide providing more than 50% of world fish consumption. Towards sustainable development, aquaculture ought to design and implement technical solutions for the efficient management of farms, thus improving fish performance and decreasing operational costs, human effort and environmental impact. For this, periodic inspection of fish-cages along with early warning systems are required, functionalities that small-sized underwater vehicles can provide. In this paper, an efficient methodology for intelligent navigation of an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) architecture is presented, yielding to a useful tool with advanced capabilities in terms of automated manipulation via real-time optical recognition approaches, miniaturization of sensors and processing units, selective monitoring, data recording/transmission operations and proper parameter calculations for further offline-analysis of captured information. The proposed AUV system constitutes an increased Technology Readiness Level version of the preliminary prototype designed earlier by our group, incorporating additional modules and application capabilities, focusing on regular periodic fish-cage net inspection in terms of net holes and fouling. The optical navigation scheme has been tested in laboratory installations under numerous scenarios so as to determine the factors affecting its robustness and efficiency. Results extracted under the validation procedure in operational conditions indicate that the proposed framework can prove a cost-effective, flexible and operative solution for aquaculture industry, enabling the transfer of operations further offshore.

Multiview Layer Fusion Model for Action Recognition Using RGBD Images
摘要: Vision-based action recognition encounters different challenges in practice, including recognition of the subject from any viewpoint, processing of data in real time, and offering privacy in a real-world setting. Even recognizing profile-based human actions, a subset of vision-based action recognition, is a considerable challenge in computer vision which forms the basis for an understanding of complex actions, activities, and behaviors, especially in healthcare applications and video surveillance systems. Accordingly, we introduce a novel method to construct a layer feature model for a profile-based solution that allows the fusion of features for multiview depth images. This model enables recognition from several viewpoints with low complexity at a real-time running speed of 63 fps for four profile-based actions: standing/walking, sitting, stooping, and lying. The experiment using the Northwestern-UCLA 3D dataset resulted in an average precision of 86.40%. With the i3DPost dataset, the experiment achieved an average precision of 93.00%. With the PSU multiview profile-based action dataset, a new dataset for multiple viewpoints which provides profile-based action RGBD images built by our group, we achieved an average precision of 99.31%.

摘要: Nowadays, researcher is focus in developing reliable iris recognition systems for non-cooperative situations. The demand for iris recognition is increasing due to its reliability, accuracy and uniqueness. There are major factors involved in unconstrained environment such as obstruction by eyelids, eyelashes, glass frames, hair, off-angle, presence of contact lenses, poor illumination, motion blur, lighting and specular reflections, partially eye image, etc. The performance of the iris will be deteriorated and this results in lower recognition rate. In this paper, an overview of iris recognition for noisy imaging environments is presented included various related databases for iris recognition systems.

OPTICAL CHARACTER RECOGNITION MENGGUNAKAN ALGORITMA TEMPLATE MATCHING CORRELATION
摘要: OCR (Optical Character Recognition) adalah suatu solusi yang efektif untuk proses konversi dokumen cetak ke dokumen digital. Permasalahan yang timbul dalam proses pengenalan dokumen komputer adalah bagaimana teknik pengenalan untuk mengidentifikasi berbagai jenis karakter dengan berbagai ukuran dan bentuk. Metode pengenalan yang digunakan dalam tugas akhir ini adalah metode Template Matching Correlation. Sebelum proses pengenalan, citra masukan dengan format * bmp atau jpg * diolah terlebih dahulu di proses preprocessing, yang meliputi binerisasi, segmentasi, dan normalisasi gambar. Rata-rata tingkat keberhasilan pengenalan yang dihasilkan oleh sistem ini adalah 92,90%. Hasil akhir menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan metode Template Matching Correlation cukup untuk membangun sebuah sistem OCR dengan akurasi yang baik efektif.

Color Constancy in Two-Dimensional and Three-Dimensional Scenes: Effects of Viewing Methods and Surface Texture
摘要: There has been debate about how and why color constancy may be better in three-dimensional (3-D) scenes than in two-dimensional (2-D) scenes. Although some studies have shown better color constancy for 3-D conditions, the role of specific cues remains unclear. In this study, we compared color constancy for a 3-D miniature room (a real scene consisting of actual objects) and 2-D still images of that room presented on a monitor using three viewing methods: binocular viewing, monocular viewing, and head movement. We found that color constancy was better for the 3-D room; however, color constancy for the 2-D image improved when the viewing method caused the scene to be perceived more like a 3-D scene. Separate measurements of the perceptual 3-D effect of each viewing method also supported these results. An additional experiment comparing a miniature room and its image with and without texture suggested that surface texture of scene objects contributes to color constancy.

3D Shape Analysis (Fundamentals, Theory, and Applications) || 3D Face Recognition
摘要: The automatic recognition of human faces has many potential applications in various fields including security and human–computer interaction. An accurate and robust face recognition system needs to discriminate between the faces of different people under variable conditions. The main challenge is that faces, from a general perspective, look similar and their differences can be very subtle. They all have the same structure and are composed of similar components (e.g. nose, eyes, and mouth). On the other hand, the appearance of the same face can considerably change under variable extrinsic factors, e.g. the camera position and the intensity and direction of light, and intrinsic factors such as the head position and orientation, facial expressions, age, skin color, and gender. On that basis, face recognition can be considered to be more challenging than the general object recognition problem discussed in Chapter 11. Pioneer researchers initially focused on 2D face recognition, i.e. how to recognize faces from data captured using monocular cameras. They reported promising recognition results, particularly in controlled environments. With the recent popularity of cost-effective 3D acquisition systems, face recognition systems are starting to benefit from the availability, advantages, and widespread use of 3D data. In this chapter, we review some of the recent advances in 3D face recognition. We will first present, in Section 10.2, the various 3D facial datasets and benchmarks that are currently available to researchers and then discuss the challenges and evaluation criteria. Section 10.3 will review the key 3D face recognition methods. Section 10.4 provides a summary and discussions around this chapter.

Hand Gesture Recognition in Automotive Human–Machine Interaction Using Depth Cameras
摘要: In this review, we describe current Machine Learning approaches to hand gesture recognition with depth data from time-of-flight sensors. In particular, we summarise the achievements on a line of research at the Computational Neuroscience laboratory at the Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences. Relating our results to the work of others in this field, we confirm that Convolutional Neural Networks and Long Short-Term Memory yield most reliable results. We investigated several sensor data fusion techniques in a deep learning framework and performed user studies to evaluate our system in practice. During our course of research, we gathered and published our data in a novel benchmark dataset (REHAP), containing over a million unique three-dimensional hand posture samples.

On the performance improvement of non-cooperative iris biometrics using segmentation and feature selection techniques
摘要: In this work, an improved segmentation methodology and a novel feature selection algorithm are proposed. From the input eye image, iris boundary is identified using Circular Hough Transform. A bounding box is defined using the radius obtained followed by iterative thresholding techniques to eliminate specular reflections, eyelids, eyelashes and pupil region. First-order and second-order statistical features are extracted from the segmented iris. For the first time, the statistical measure, Chi-square value is computed from GLCM as a new novel feature from iris images. Statistical dependency-based backward feature selection (SDBFS) algorithm is used to reduce the feature vector size. By operating on local features in reduced search space, computation complexity of segmentation is reduced with less mislocalisation count and eliminates pupil dilation effects. Results of SDBFS show the usefulness of minimal-useful features. Experimental results conducted on CASIA V1, V3-interval and UBIRIS V1 datasets show that statistical features in non-ideal iris images outperform some of the state-of-the-art methods.

Study on Single Camera Based ANPR System for Improvement of Vehicle Number Plate Recognition on Multi-lane Roads
摘要: In this paper, we introduce the single camera-based number recognition system used for this system recognizes vehicle number plates on one lane by using a single camera. Intelligent transport system (ITS) has been constructed because there is a limit in solving traffic problems in a physical manner such as construction of roads and subways. The single camera-based number recognition system used for this system recognizes vehicle number plates on one lane by using a single camera. Due to the increased cost of the installation and maintenance thereof, there is a growing need for a multi-lane-based number recognition system. When the single camera-based number recognition system is used for multi-lane recognition, the recognition rate is lowered due to a difference in vehicle image size among lanes and a low-resolution problem. Therefore, in this study, we applied a character extraction algorithm using connected vertical and horizontal edge segments-based labeling to improve multi-lane vehicle number recognition rate and thereby to allow application of the single camera-based system to multi-lane roads.

Anthracene-based cyclophanes with selective fluorescent responses for TTP and GTP: insights into recognition and sensing mechanisms
摘要: Three anthracene-based cyclophanes have been synthesized and their binding properties towards nucleoside triphosphates have been studied. A new polycyclic amine derived from dearomatized anthracene has been identified as a major side product in the reaction between 9,10-anthracenedicarboxaldehyde and diethylenetriamine. Its structure has been determined by the single crystal X-Ray analysis. The cyclophanes have been found to form 1:1 complexes with all nucleoside triphosphates as well as with pyrophosphate in a buffered aqueous solution at pH 6.2. A turn-on fluorescence response has been observed for all nucleotides except for GTP, which demonstrated strong fluorescence quenching. The strongest turn-on fluorescence answer has been observed for the largest receptor 3 in the presence of TTP. Based on the NMR and fluorescence experiments two major binding modes for nucleotide complexes have been identified.
