  • Distribution measurement of permittivity by dividing the sample into multisection in the slotted cylindrical cavity

    摘要: There are few papers to introduce the distribution measurement of material’s permittivity in the previous work, but the measurement is an important effort to effectively evaluate the inhomogeneity of material’s permittivity. In order to measure the distribution of the relative permittivity with small interval along sample rod, a multisection measurement model has been introduced. The sample is horizontally inserted into the slotted cylindrical cavity with TM0n0 working modes and passes through it to improve the measurement stability. During the measurement, the sample is divided into many sections, and each section is treated as a subsample for the distribution measurement of the permittivity. The traditional perturbation technology is combined with the field analysis of two subsamples in the cavity to calculate the permittivity of all subsamples from the effective permittivity. Based on the theoretical analysis of the simulation results from HFSS, partial error equation is established, and the absolute error of the multisection measurement model is less than 0.1. Besides, the horizontal movement device for the sample movement, support platform with a groove for the sample placement, and vertical cylindrical cavity for the measurement are employed to make up the test setup. Meanwhile, it can provide a stable and rapid measurement. Thus, a fiber reinforced plastic rod has been measured to verify the feasibility of the developed test setup.

  • Thermal stability analysis of buffered layer P3HT/P3HT:PCBM organic solar cells

    摘要: The manual creation of complex 3D structures for use in engineering analysis is a major obstacle to analyzing physically realistic structures. A bias is invariably imposed when a mixture is manually composed, and the structure is rarely representative of the process by which composites are fabricated. Properties such as packing density and anisotropies that seem to easily occur in nature are very difficult to obtain with manual arrangements. This paper addresses the creation of complex 3D mixtures, comprising crystals embedded in a matrix, for subsequent electromagnetic (EM) analysis. The physically realistic arrangement of the crystals is facilitated by the use of physics engine software, specifically the Bullet physics library, which renders the realistic effects in advanced computer games. A composite mixture of crystals is created by pouring a series of random crystals into a box with the crystals bouncing against each other and aligning just as they do in the real world. Higher packing densities are obtained than can be reasonably obtained with manual construction. The arrangement of the obtained crystals reflects the real world alignment of asymmetric crystals. A composite is created here and used with EM simulation software to investigate energy localization in materials.

  • Debye Frequency-extended Waveguide Permittivity Extraction for High Complex Permittivity Materials. Concrete Setting Process Characterization

    摘要: A waveguide with central frequency 868 MHz is used in transmission/re?ection operation regime to accurately measure the behaviour of the complex permittivity of high complex permittivity granular materials and it has been frequency-extended up to 3 GHz using the Debye ?tted relaxation model. It is shown that for highly granular high permittivity materials a waveguide based transmission/re?ection technique is necessary to reduce the uncertainty of the extracted permittivity values. The technique is ?rst described and validated with isopropyl alcohol and then applied to the characterization of cement based materials. This paper provides accurate data on the evolution of the complex permittivity of concrete and mortar from the moment of pouring until air dried condition is achieved.

    摘要: We have experimentally veri?ed that the balanced-type circular-disk (BCD) resonator method can provide permittivity measurements at almost arbitrary frequency points by changing the size of the circular disk that constitutes the resonator. Resonant frequencies of the BCD resonator can be changed by replacing the expendable parts instead of including a movable part in the resonator. We clari?ed that a highly stable and rather simple permittivity measurements at a desired frequency point can be realized with the BCD resonator by demonstrating the consistency of measured permittivities of a low-loss material obtained with ?ve circular disks with different radii.

  • A Review of Manufacturing Materials and Production Methods for Frequency-Selective Structures [Wireless Corner]

    摘要: This article presents a review of frequency-selective structure (FSS) manufacturing materials and production methods ranging from the common printed circuit board (PCB)-based designs to textile, ink, metal, or fluid prototypes. Our work gathers some of the most relevant solutions published by the scientific community and considers several examples depicted for each case. Additionally, the main physical parameters that may have a significant impact on FSS performance have been identified, e.g., electrical conductivity of the FSS conductive element and the relative permittivity and thickness of the FSS dielectric material. Finally, a comparative analysis of the materials and techniques is presented, which highlights the benefits and limitations of each solution.
