  • ELECTRICALLY RECONFIGURABLE RADIATION PATTERNS OF SLOT ANTENNA ARRAY USING AGILE PLASMA WALL

    摘要: In this paper, an antenna with recon?gurable radiation pattern in the H-plane at 2.45 GHz for high power applications is presented. It is based on a 3-slot array in the E-plane covered partially with a wall of plasma in order to reduce the length of the slots and consequently ensure electrically a modi?cation of the radiation pattern in the H-plane. The power distribution of the array is ensured with a power splitter.

  • Beam Splitting of a Novel Triple-Beam Slot Antenna Array Based on Radial Gap Waveguide

    摘要: We present a phenomenon of beam splitting caused by asymmetric boundaries. We design and manufacture a novel triple-beam slot antenna array working at X-band to verify this phenomenon and show its potential applications. The corporate-feed slot antenna is based on a radial ridge gap waveguide (RGW) power divider, and is excited by a central coaxial connector. To achieve good efficiency, a radial SMA-RGW transition structure is proposed. Six different symmetrical and asymmetrical triple-beam RGW slot antenna arrays are mentioned in this paper. Among them, two symmetrical and one asymmetrical triple-beam RGW slot antenna arrays are fabricated and measured, and the measured results have good agreement with full-wave simulations, demonstrating stable performance of the proposed antenna array. Compared with the traditional slot antenna array, the proposal is capable of generating any number of beams in theory, especially odd beams, and each beam can be individually designed. The proposed shared-aperture radial multi-beam antenna can achieve simultaneously multi-directional coverage. It can meet the needs of multi-target tracking and imaging in blind spot detection and collision warning scenarios of the vehicular radar system. It also has potential value to satisfy the need of large-scale users connection in the wide-area continuous coverage scenario of the fifth generation communication system.

  • Cross-Configuration Substrate Integrated Waveguide Beamforming Network for 1D and 2D Beam Patterns

    摘要: This paper presents the simulated and measured results of a dual-layer substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) beamforming network utilizing an 8 × 8 cross-con?guration Butler matrix over a frequency range of 28.5 to 31.5 GHz. By arranging the input ports on the bottom SIW layer and employing dual-layer passband ?lters as a detachment point, the top SIW layer can be interchanged with the purpose of exploring one-dimensional and two-dimensional broadside beam patterns. Although Butler matrices are not typically utilized for beamforming in this con?guration, two examples of interchangeable top layer arrays are demonstrated; the ?rst being a 2 × 8 slot antenna array for 1-D scanning, and the second being a 2 × 4 center-slot array for 2-D scanning. Each of the beamforming network’s simulated and measured 10 dB bandwidth is demonstrated over a range of 28.5 to 31.5 GHz. Additional design details and dimensions are speci?ed for the aforementioned passband ?lter transitions, as well as for each of the slot antenna arrays.
