A solid-state integrated photo-supercapacitor based on ZnO nanorod arrays decorated with Ag <sub/>2</sub> S quantum dots as the photoanode and a PEDOT charge storage counter-electrode
摘要: A planar solid-state photocapacitor with two electrodes has been prepared for the first time using a passivated film of ZnS with Ag2S quantum dots deposited on ZnO nanorods, which were electrochemically grown on ZnO seed layers, as the photoanode. The supercapacitor part is composed of a electrodeposited poly(3,4-ethylene-dioxythiophene) PEDOT film as the counter-electrode and an ionic liquid-based electrolyte between them deposited by the dip coating method. The different nanostructures and electrodes were morphologically and structurally characterized, and the device was electrochemically characterized and could reach a potential of 0.33 V during photocharge and a storage efficiency of 6.83%.

Understanding the High Performance of over 15% Efficiency in Single‐Junction Bulk Heterojunction Organic Solar Cells
摘要: The highly efficient single-junction bulk-heterojunction (BHJ) PM6:Y6 system can achieve high open-circuit voltages (VOC) while maintaining exceptional fill-factor (FF) and short-circuit current (JSC) values. With a low energetic offset, the blend system is found to exhibit radiative and non-radiative recombination losses that are among the lower reported values in the literature. Recombination and extraction dynamic studies reveal that the device shows moderate non-geminate recombination coupled with exceptional extraction throughout the relevant operating conditions. Several surface and bulk characterization techniques are employed to understand the phase separation, long-range ordering, as well as donor:acceptor (D:A) inter- and intramolecular interactions at an atomic-level resolution. This is achieved using photo-conductive atomic force microscopy, grazing-incidence wide-angle X-ray scattering, and solid-state 19F magic-angle-spinning NMR spectroscopy. The synergy of multifaceted characterization and device physics is used to uncover key insights, for the first time, on the structure–property relationships of this high-performing BHJ blend. Detailed information about atomically resolved D:A interactions and packing reveals that the high performance of over 15% efficiency in this blend can be correlated to a beneficial morphology that allows high JSC and FF to be retained despite the low energetic offset.

摘要: This paper presents the implementation of an automated roll-to-roll ?uidic self-assembly system based on the surface tension driven self-assembly with applications in the ?eld of macroelectronics. The reported system incorporates automated agitation, web motion, component dispensing, and recycling. The process enables the assembly and electrical connection of semiconductor dies/chips in a continuous and parallel method achieves an assembly rate of 15 000 chips per hour and an assembly yield exceeding 99%, testing assembly of standard square-shaped dies, 300–1000 μm size. Scaling the system to any desired throughput is possible due to the parallel manner of self-assembly. The identi?cation and the modeling of the relationship between process parameters and forces have been studied and experimentally veri?ed by testing the effect of the web angle, agitation on assembly, and detachment rates. As an application, we demonstrate the realization of a solid-state lighting module. This particular application requires the assembly of a conductive multilayer sandwich structure, which is achieved by combining the introduced assembly process with a novel lamination step.

摘要: The Hermes III accelerator is a 20-MV linear induction accelerator that has been in operation at Sandia National Laboratories since the late 1980’s. Energy is initially stored in the accelerator in ten Marx banks that are discharged into twenty intermediate store capacitors. These intermediate store capacitors are then switched with SF6-insulated high voltage Rimfire switches into eighty parallel pulse forming lines that further condition the pulse before finally delivering it to the twenty induction cavities arrayed along the axis of the machine. Currently, a single 0.9-J KrF laser operating at 248 nm, the output of which is divided into twenty separate beamlets, is being used to trigger the Rimfire switches. However, as part of a modernization plan for the accelerator, the gas laser system is being replaced with a new solid-state laser triggering system. The new system is comprised of 10 flash-lamp pumped, Q-switched Nd:YAG lasers (Tempest 300), each having an energy output of 35~40 mJ at a wavelength of 266 nm. Each laser will be responsible for triggering two Rimfire switches. Overall reliability for the accelerator’s operation with these new lasers is expected to increase, and by varying the times at which the individual lasers fire it becomes possible to tailor the shape of the output pulse. The optical layout and other details of this solid-state laser triggering system are presented, along with initial operational data from the HERMES III accelerator using this system.

Powerful transversally diode-pumped Nd:YAG laser with low depolarization losses
摘要: The optical losses introduced into the cavity of transversally diode pumped Nd:YAG lasers operating in the linearly polarized Q-switched mode by the induced birefringence were evaluated. The relationship between the loss values and the state of the side surface of laser active elements was established. It has been shown that the active elements with adhesive light-scattering layers on their side surfaces make it possible to create the laser sources not only with a high degree of uniformity of the distribution of radiation within the output beam cross-section, but also with a low level of the optical depolarization losses.

Towards white light emission from a hybrid thin film of a self-assembled ternary samarium( <scp>iii</scp> ) complex
摘要: A new samarium complex [Sm(hfaa)3(Py-Im)] (ML) was synthesized by utilizing hexafluoroacetylacetone (hfaa) and 2-(2-pyridyl)benzimidazole (Py-Im) as coordinating ligands. A single crystal X-ray analysis shows that in the solid-state the complex dimerizes through intermolecular hydrogen-bonding with N–H···O (2.127 ?) and N–H···F (2.576 ?) interactions. The complex in the solid-state displayed highly monochromatic brilliant red emission with Commission International de I’Eclairage (CIE) color coordinates of 0.6532; 0.3336, with a remarkably long luminescence lifetime (≈ 204.47 ± 4.043 μs) and a high intrinsic quantum yield (≈ 6.60 %). Furthermore, the complex in different organic media displayed color tunability from orange (CIE; 0.6071; 0.3568) to violet (CIE; 0.3634; 0.2144) with from 105.50 ± 0.143 – 14.27 ± 0.033 μs. Hybrid and flexible thin films obtained by doping different concentrations (1%, 2%, 4% and 6%) of the complex into the poly(urethane) (PU) polymer matrix also exhibited color tunability from violet (CIE; 0.3380; 0.2162) to light orange (CIE; 0.5666; 0.3408). White light emission from a 1% doped thin film of the complex was realized by changing the excitation wavelength. The new material could be a potential candidate for the fabrication of full-color display devices and for solid-state lighting (SSL) applications.

Modeling of the 3D spatio-temporal thermal profile of joule-class -based laser amplifiers
摘要: Thermal pro?le modi?cation of an active material in a laser ampli?er via optical pumping results in a change in the material’s refractive index, and causes thermal expansion and stress, eventually leading to spatial phase aberrations, or even permanent material damage. For this purpose, knowledge of the 3D spatio-temporal thermal pro?le, which can currently only be retrieved via numerical simulations, is critical for joule-class laser ampli?ers to reveal potentially dangerous thermal features within the pumped active materials. In this investigation, a detailed, spatio-temporal numerical simulation was constructed and tested for accuracy against surface thermal measurements of various end-pumped Yb3+-doped laser-active materials. The measurements and simulations show an excellent agreement and the model was successfully applied to a joule-class Yb3+-based ampli?er currently operating in the POLARIS laser system at the Friedrich-Schiller-University and Helmholtz-Institute Jena in Germany.

A multi-level optical storage scheme via two-step picosecond laser irradiations: time/space modulations of microstructure and its optical property
摘要: China has a considerable lignite deposit in the Xinjiang province, but surface and underground coal seam fires pose a threat to the resources, environment, economy, and health. As the chemical and physical structure impacts coal fire propensity and behavior, two raw Xinjiang lignites were examined from the Shaerhu (SEH) and Piliqing (PLQ) Collieries. The SEH lignite is more prone to spontaneous combustion (from regional observations). These coals were of the same geological age and were both inertinite-rich 69.8 and 95.6% for SEH and PLQ, respectively (by the point counting approach). The more spontaneous combustion prone lignite had a significantly higher micropore contribution and surface area (92.4% and 195.6 m2/g), while both coals had similar micro- and mesopore size distribution ranges. Despite being classified as lignite by the mean vitrinite random reflectance (Rr, 0.30 and 0.26%) the inertinite contribution displaces some of the structural properties to be similar to the vitrinite-rich, high-volatile bituminous rank. The lignite coals had similar carbon content (74.6 and 78.4 wt % for SEH and PLQ) and vitrinite reflectance but differed in ash, volatile matter, total moisture, and fixed carbon yields. The crystallite parameters [from X-ray diffraction (XRD)], the interlayer spacing, crystallite height, crystallite diameter, and the numbers of aromatic layer indicated the more inertinite-rich coal (PLQ) was slightly less ordered. Both coals were highly aromatic for lignites (fa values of 0.72 and 0.71 for SEH and PLQ), as the inertinite-rich components are more aromatic and polycondensed than huminite-rich (a low rank counterpart of vitrinite) coals of similar reflectance values. Image analysis of high-resolution transmission electron microscopy lattice fringes determined the aromatic fringe length distributions, with contributions between 0.25 and 0.50 nm accounting for 37.1% for PLQ, while SEH had a lower contribution of 28.0% but also a greater contribution of longer fringes (larger polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon cluster sizes). Image analysis of the lattice fringe orientation and XRD analysis also indicated that the SEH lignite was more ordered. These two coals are potential coals for further exploration of spontaneous combustion behavior for inertinite-rich coals.

摘要: Optical Parametric Chirped-Pulse Amplification (OPCPA) systems have become a key-enabling light source providing high energies at high repetition rates and covering a wide range of wavelengths from the visible to the mid-infrared with few cycle pulse durations. However, most systems are complex and rather bulky due to large fiber or regenerative amplifiers used as a pump source. The additional need for a stretcher and compressor in the pump laser adds complexity, timing jitter and reduces the overall optical-to-optical efficiency. In this work, we present a novel approach that allows a high repetition rate, few-cycle OPCPA system based on a compact and CPA-free solid-state amplifier system. We recently demonstrated the feasibility of the concept using two subsequent direct diode pumped solid-state amplifier modules (neoVAN-2P, neoLASE GmbH) based on Nd:YVO4 as a pump laser. We were able to amplify the ultrabroadband pulses from a home-built, octave-spanning Ti:sapphire laser to generate few-cycle pulses with a duration of 8.7 fs with an energy of 18 μJ at 10 kHz repetition rate. The compact, CPA-free system has a reduced system footprint and high efficiency as no losses in a compressor are occurring. For the amplification of few-cycle signal pulses, stretching to more than a few ps and subsequent recompression is problematic and limited the achievable pulse duration in our previous system. Insufficient temporal overlap between pump and signal pulses in the OPA stages will however cause lower parametric conversion efficiency and a significantly higher super-fluorescence background. In this work, we show for the first time a compact few-cycle OPCPA system using a newly developed Yb:YAG solid-state amplifier as pump source. The Yb:YAG amplifier modules are capable of generating pump pulses with a duration of < 600 fs. These output parameters are ideally suited for few-cycle OPCPA pumping and eliminate the above mentioned drawbacks of the previous approach. The high pump power and short pulse duration delivered by the amplifier modules enable a similar performance of the OPCPA as typical high repetition rate, rod-fiber based systems at the benefit of CPA-free operation and compactness. As the amplifier modules are equipped with an efficient CPA-free, directly diode pumped solid-state pump source with all-optical synchronization to an ultra-broadband Ti:sapphire seed oscillator. The availability of such portable, breadboard-user-friendly OPCPA will be a great benefit for many applications as spectroscopy, nonlinear imaging or even attosecond physics.
