[IEEE 2019 Photonics North (PN) - Quebec City, QC, Canada (2019.5.21-2019.5.23)] 2019 Photonics North (PN) - Diode-Pumped Dual-Wavelength Nd:GVO4 Laser
摘要: We report on the continuous-wave dual-wavelength laser operation of a Nd:GdVO4 laser using a single birefringent filter (BRF) plate. The laser operated at wavelength pair of 1063 & 1071 nm under in-band diode pumping of 912 nm. maximum total output power was ~ 2.5 W at ~13.4 W of absorbed pump power. Further rotation of the BRF could be used to adjust the power ratio between the two wavelengths or to achieve single wavelength operation [10,17].

Highly compact nanosecond laser for space debris tracking
摘要: This study demonstrated the use of a highly compact nanosecond laser system operating at 532 nm and producing a maximum output power of 70 W with a pulse width of 5 ns at 0.5 kHz, for space debris tracking. To improve the ranging accuracy while minimizing the influence of the pulse noise, a bidirectional Q-switch was adopted in the oscillator to generate a short pulse width with less tailing. The laser was applied for low-Earth-orbit space debris tracking, and space debris with the farthest distance of 1701.9 km at the minimum radar cross-section of 1 m2 could be detected with a ranging precision of up to 26.90 cm.

Efficient continuous-wave Nd:YLF laser in-band diode-pumped at 908?nm and its thermal lensing
摘要: We report on what we believe is the first continuous-wave yttrium lithium fluoride laser with in-band diode pumping at 908 nm. Pumping at this wavelength reduced the quantum defect by more than 50% when compared to the conventional pumping at ~800 nm. The laser produced an output power of 850 mW at 1047 nm and its radiation was π-polarized. It had a near diffraction limited output beam and a maximum slope efficiency of ~73.9% with respect to the absorbed pump power. The thermal lensing strength was experimentally measured and compared with the previous experimental data. It was found that the thermal lensing was significantly reduced when compared to the traditional ~800 nm pumping.

摘要: A cryogenic solid-state laser (CSSL) based on a chromium-doped gadolinium scandium gallium garnet (Cr:GSGG) crystal has been demonstrated. The laser operates at 1.94 μm with a maximum output power of 1.1 W at 100 K. The output pulses (FWHM 1.24 ns) may be compressed to 31 ps. The current state of art in cryogenic solid-state lasers is presented, and the advantages of the CSSL are discussed.

摘要: High power continuous-wave operation of a diode-pumped Yb:YAP laser was demonstrated. The laser generated >7 W of output power with 22 W of pump power with the slope efficiency of around 70% while maintaining high beam quality. The combination of high thermal conductivity and broad gain bandwidth makes this laser host an attractive candidate for high power CW and ultrashort pulse generation.

Tunable three-level Nd:YAG CW laser with three lowest wavelengths at 869, 875, and 878 nm
摘要: We present a tunable three-level Nd:YAG laser using a birefringent filter (BF) based on the 4F3/2?4I9/2 transition, generally used for a 946 nm emission. Three-level Nd:YAG laser was performed at three different laser wavelengths of 869 (pure-three-level), 875 (pure-three-level), and 878 nm (quasi-three-level). Within three wavelengths, the 875 and 878 nm were demonstrated for what is believed to be the first time. The highest output power of 1.21 W was achieved at 869 nm with a slope efficiency of 9.9%. Moreover, a continuous-wave (CW) simultaneous dual-wavelength Nd:YAG laser at 875 and 878 nm was also demonstrated for the first time.

Broadband γ-graphyne saturable absorber for Q-switched solid-state laser
摘要: γ‐graphyne, as a member of two‐dimensional carbon materials, has attracted much attentions benefitting from its unique characteristics, such as high carriers mobility, high stability, etc. In the present study, a γ‐graphyne saturable absorber (SA) was fabricated and characterized. The linear optical absorption in the spectral range from the visible to mid‐infrared as well as the nonlinear optical character of the SA were investigated. The passively Q‐switched solid‐ state lasers emitting at 639 nm, 1342 nm, 1932 nm were realized by using the γ‐graphyne SA. The results indicate that the γ‐graphyne could be a promising alternative for rare broadband optical modulator.
