摘要: In this paper we propose a novel diplexer based on surface plasmon polariton (SPP) like propagation in substrate integrated waveguide (SIW). The diplexer consists of two two-layer SIW filters, where layers are designed to have effective permittivities of opposite signs in a certain frequency ranges, thus providing SPP-like propagation, and consequently passbands and stopbands in the desired frequency ranges. The diplexer is designed to operate at 2.4/2.6 GHz, and it is characterized by high performance, low-profile and low-cost structure.

Compact Equal-Width Equal-Length Phase Shifter With Slow-Wave Half-Mode Substrate Integrated Waveguide for 5G Applications
摘要: The emerging fifth-generation (5G) wireless and mobile communications demand high-performance phase shifters to enable the multi-channel transmit/receive systems with phase control ability. In this work, a size-miniaturized wideband phase shifter based on slow-wave half-mode substrate integrated waveguide (SW-HMSIW) is presented. The proposed SW-HMSIW is consisting of conventional HMSIW section and periodically-patterned non-uniform microtrip polyline unit cells. Patterning polyline unit cells in HMSIW can effectively enhance the product of the equivalent permittivity and permeability of SW-HMSIW, so that the slow-wave effect can be exhibited and its associated size reduction will be further achieved. Moreover, lengths and widths of segments of the proposed polyline unit cell can influence the equivalent permittivity and permeability of the SW-HMSIW, and consequently change its phase constant and cutoff frequency. Hence, for a SW-HMSIW with a fixed physical length, an electrical length variation, i.e, phase shift, can be achieved as segments of the polyline employ various lengths or widths. Based on this principle, a wideband equal-width equal-length SW-HMSIW phase shifter is implemented. Measured results are in good agreement with simulated ones, with a phase shift of 90.5 ± 3 degree and a fractional bandwidth of 43.0% achieved. Compared with some similar reported works, the proposed one shows a size reduction more than 80% as well as good magnitude and phase deviations performance. Moreover, its miniaturized size and equal-width equal-length structure make it suitable for the complex multi-channel modules and networks of the 5G applications.

摘要: A wideband bandpass filter is proposed in this paper, the filter combine half-mode corrugated substrate integrated waveguide (HMCSIW) with improved dumbbell defected ground structures (DGSs). The HMCSIW technique can operate similarly with the traditional half-mode substrate integrated waveguide (HMSIW). Differently, it provides a completely floating conductor without metallic via holes. Combining two technologies together, a design of HMCSIW wideband bandpass filter (BPF) is proposed in the paper. The presented BPFs can operate in a wide band without a short circuit between different metal layers and will be widely used in integration with other RF circuits.

摘要: Substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) based on slot antenna is projected for V-band applications and Rogers RT/duriod 5880 substrate used to build up the antenna. The anchor shaped slot is etched on top side of an antenna to improve the bandwidth. The proposed antenna is designed, fabricated, measured and validated. The measured impedance bandwidth is 5.3GHz (ranges from 57 to 62.3GHz) and resonates at two frequencies 57.96GHz, 61.16GHz respectively and also pragmatic good radiation pattern, that is well suited to operate in wireless communications.

摘要: A novel modelling technique to design microwave 3D-printable ?lters based on arbitrarily height-modulated substrate integrated waveguides (SIW) is presented in this paper. In the literature, different topologies have been already employed to design ?lters based on SIW. Nevertheless, none of these solutions have analyzed the behavior of the modulation of the height of the ?lters. This is due to the dif?culty of manufacturing the prototypes with conventional procedures. In this paper, the techniques to design and manufacture these ?lters, provided with microstrip transitions for their validation, are presented.

3-D empty substrate integrated waveguide phase shifter with equal length
摘要: In this letter, a novel 3-D empty substrate integrated waveguide (ESIW) phase shifter with equal length has been proposed. The vertical transitions have been introduced into 3-D ESIW phase shifter in the propagation path. Based on it, the di?erent total lengths of phase shifters in the propagation path and the equal total lengths of phase shifters in the external structure are compatible. The phase shifter consists of multi-layer PCB: top layer, interlayer, middle layer, ESIW PCB, and bottom layer. The theory and design process of ESIW phase shifter have been explained and discussed in detail. To demonstrate its feasibility, the 3-D ESIW phase shifters with equal external length are designed, manufactured and measured. Final results show that the phase shifts of 45.2° 2 3.7° and 89.7° 2 4.7° can be achieved over the entire Ka-band. Besides, the return losses and the insertion losses are better than 12.5 dB, and 1.9 dB, respectively.

摘要: This paper reports on a new type of substrate-integrated-waveguide (SIW) bandpass filters (BPFs) with multiple levels of transfer function adaptivity. They are based on series-cascaded in-line coaxial resonators and a coaxial-resonator-based transmission-zero (TZ) generation section. The proposed architecture allows the realization of the following reconfigurable characteristics: i) tunable center frequency with either constant absolute bandwidth (BW) or constant fractional bandwidth (FBW), ii) tunable BW, and iii) an intrinsically switched-off response. Alternative realization schemes using parallel and series resonators are discussed with the purpose of improving the stopband performance. For proof-of-concept demonstration purposes an L-band SIW-based BPF prototype was designed, manufactured and measured. It exhibited the following RF performance characteristics. Center frequency tuning between 1.24 and 1.8 GHz (1.5: tuning ratio), BW tuning between 190 and 78 MHz (2.44:1 tuning ratio) and intrinsic switching-off with > 30 dB of isolation in the range between 0.75 and 2.25 GHz.

A high‐isolation dual‐polarized quad‐patch antenna fed by stacked substrate integrated waveguides for millimeter‐wave application
摘要: A high-isolation dual-polarized quad-patch antenna fed by stacked substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) that is suitable for millimeter-wave band is proposed in this paper. The antenna consists of a quad-patch radiator, a two-layer SIW feeding structure and two feeding ports for horizontal and vertical polarization. The two-layer stacked SIW feeding structure achieves the high isolation between the two feeding ports (|S21| ≤ ?45 dB). Based on the proposed element, a 1 × 4 antenna array with a simple series-fed network is also designed and investigated. A prototype working at the frequency band from 38 to 40 GHz is fabricated and tested. The results indicate that the proposed antenna has good radiation performance at 38 GHz that covers future 5G applications.

An Effective Mixed Extracting Method for Electromagnetic Parameters of Periodically Loaded Substrate Integrated Waveguide Units and Its Applications
摘要: In this article, we propose an effective mixed extracting method for anisotropic constitutive parameters of periodically loaded substrate integrated waveguide (SIW). This method takes the advantage of both scattering parameters retrieval theory and the equivalent homogeneous medium dispersion analysis, which could accurately and effectively extract the equivalent constitutive parameters of the periodically loaded SIW. With this method, the corresponding constitutive parameters of the six typical patterns of periodically loaded SIW schemes are accurately extracted, veri?ed, explained, and compared for their performance. It can be used to quantitatively predict the miniaturization potential of each unit cell and sequentially evaluate the performance as an integrated component. In addition, in terms of application, with the aid of equivalent parameters extracted by the proposed method, a slow-wave SIW evanescent mode ?lter centered at 12.64 GHz with a frequency bandwidth of 300 MHz is synthesized, fabricated, and measured. In the meanwhile, the theory of slow-wave evanescent mode ?lter is further consummated, by introducing the dual factors of enhanced permittivity and permeability, as well as analyzing respective advantages in ?lter synthesis. Measurements and simulation results show good agreement, which embodies the role of the method in guiding the design of actual microwave devices.

Multi-layered dual-mode substrate integrated waveguide bandpass filter with input and output ports located on same substrate layer
摘要: This study reports a multi-layered dual-mode substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) bandpass filter (BPF), in which the input and output ports are located on the same substrate layer (i.e. the upper one). The dual-mode SIW cavity in the lower substrate layer is coupled to the upper dual-mode SIW cavity by two crossed slots, which can independently control the inter-couplings. The proposed filter can be modelled by a dual-extended doublet coupling scheme with considering bypass couplings between source and load. Based on the proposed structure, single- and dual-band filtering responses with four controllable finite-transmission zeros (FTZs) are realised and analysed. For the demonstration, a single-band filter and a dual-band filter were fabricated and measured. The measured results agree well with simulated ones.
