摘要: Anticipating the potentials and the challenges of the millimeter wave regions, horn antennas in substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) are observed. The antennas are fed by an WR28 rectangular waveguide through a slotted transition to the SIW structure. A parameter study by variating the dimension of the rectangular slot was carried out to get optimal reflection characteristics. Afterwards, several geometry modifications, such as changing the opening of the horn, the flare length and adding some vias, are performed to study the characteristics of the antennas. The antennas have very good reflection characteristics at frequency 38 GHz and a simulated gain of around 7.5 dBi. Measurements with a vector network analyzer confirmed the results.

Design of miniaturized high selectivity folded substrate integrated waveguide band pass filter with Koch fractal
摘要: This paper proposes the design of a novel double folded substrate integrated waveguide (FSIW) band pass filter (BPF) based on Koch space-filling curve (SFC). The folded SIW filter is incorporated with first and second iteration levels of Koch curve on central conducting layer. A prototype of second iteration Koch fractal FSIW BPF has been fabricated using substrate having dielectric constant 2.55 and thickness 0.508 mm for each layer and then tested. The fabricated second order filter has merits of compact size (0.204 λ0 2), high roll off rate (82.2 dB/GHz) and low insertion loss (<0.85 dB) in the X band.

Substrate integrated waveguide based cavitya??backed selfa??triplexing slot antenna for Xa??Ku band applications
摘要: A planar substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) based cavity-backed self-triplexing slot antenna is proposed for X-Ku band applications. The antenna comprises of the SIW cavity, radiating slots, and feeding networks. The radiating slots; that are etched on the upper metallic plane of the SIW, are backed up by the three radiated quarter cavities (QCs). The radiating slots in the respective QCs are of different lengths, excited by three separated orthogonal feed lines to resonate at three different frequencies as 11.01, 12.15, and 13.1 GHz. By fine-tuning the antenna parameters, an intrinsic input port isolation of better than 26 dB is realized which helps in achieving the self-triplexing property. The behaviors of individual cavity modes at three resonant frequencies are explained with the help of Z-parameter. The proposed antenna layout is easy to integrate with the planar circuit. The proposed antenna is fabricated and measured results display a close concern with the simulated results. Moreover, a unidirectional radiation pattern and gain of 5.1, 5.54, and 6.12 dBi at resonant frequencies are realized.

摘要: A compact substrate integrated waveguide bandpass filter (SIW-BPF) with back-to-back dual-G-shaped stepped impedance resonator (DGS-SIR) pair is proposed. The DGS-SIR is etched on the top layer of the SIW. As a result, the proposed SIW-BPF loaded by DGS-SIR supports forward-wave propagation below the cutoff frequency of the SIW. Moreover, two transmission zeros (TZs) are generated in both sides of the passband. Consequently high selectivity, sharp roll-off, and compact size have been achieved. To validate the proposed design concept a compact SIW-BPF with DGS-SIR operating at 3 GHz has been designed and fabricated using microstrip and printed circuit board (PCB) technology. The measured results are in good agreement with the full-wave simulated results.

摘要: This paper presents a compact and low-profile bandpass filter (BPF) built of silica-based post-wall waveguide. The BPF adopts direct-coupled resonator filters based on cylindrical resonators. The filter is highly configurable in shape and allows flexible and compact design. A compact E-band hybrid-coupled diplexer is presented as an application. The dimensions of the BPF and diplexer are 4.0×4.0 mm2 and 9.4×9.9 mm2, respectively. The insertion loss of the lower passband of the diplexer is 1.52 dB at 72.9 GHz and that of the higher passband is 2.0 dB at 82.8 GHz

摘要: An elegant continuously-tunable bandpass ?lter with a wide tuning range based on liquid metal is presented. The ?lter is realized using square substrate integrated waveguide cavity resonators, capacitively loaded with liquid metal posts at the center of the resonators. By changing the height of the liquid metal posts, and hence altering the loading capacitances, the resonant frequencies of the resonators are continuously tuned. To prove the concept, a second order bandpass ?lter is realized and measured. Measurements con?rm the wide range tunability of the ?lter. This demonstrates that liquid-metal, continuous tuning is a promising mechanism for future frequency-agile ?lter applications.

摘要: Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) is a low loss transmission line which can be used to connect an antenna to a backed RF circuit in the millimeter wave band. A multi-layer substrate is effective to integrate RF circuits and antennas. Therefore, a transition between a hollow waveguide and a SIW in multi-layer substrate is necessary. However, reflection loss generates at the connections between the hollow waveguide and the SIW in each layer. In this study, a back short and window structures are proposed to use for matching circuit in the transition. Transitions from hollow waveguide to SIWs in multi-layer substrate were designed for low loss over wide bandwidth.

摘要: We present here a fully planar, low-cost and easy to fabricate power divider and a slot array antenna operating at 5G communication bands, based on a new version of the substrate integrated waveguide (SIW). The proposed SIW is synthesized by replacing each via row, with two rows of broadside-coupled complementary split ring resonators (BC-CSRRs), etched on the top and bottom metal ground surfaces of the dielectric substrate. Such resonators provide a negative effective permittivity and are capable of perfectly confining the wave within the propagating channel. The proposed waveguide exhibits excellent propagation characteristics, with losses close to those of the conventional SIW, providing a highly promising platform to implement low-cost planar components for 5G applications.

摘要: In this paper, a novel design technique for designing 3D frequency selective surfaces (FSS) is proposed based on substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) cavity technology. The proposed design comprises of two tightly coupled FSS elements through the series of periodically spaced metallic vias which are separated a by a finite gap. The structure exhibits passbands characteristics with a relative bandwidth of 14.14%. Further, it exhibits two sharp roll-off performance characteristics on either edges of transmission frequency with two transmission zeros. The parametric study has been conducted to analyze its effect on frequency response of the structure. Furthermore, the material characteristics are derived to analyze the material behavior of the structure.

Low-loss and broadband coaxial line to air-filled substrate integrated waveguide transition
摘要: This Letter introduces a low-loss and broadband coaxial line to air-filled substrate integrated waveguide (AFSIW) transition for the first time. The fabrication of this transition involves three substrate layers. The inner conductor of the coaxial line is connected to the metal layer of the lower substrate and its outer conductor is connected to the metal layer of the upper substrate. This transition uses a taper-shaped configuration at the end of the line to achieve the better impedance matching and wider matching bandwidth. In the previously reported AFSIW components, several transitions are used to transform the transverse electromagnetic mode of the coaxial line to the TE10 mode of the AFSIW structure. By using the proposed transition, these extra transitions are eliminated, which leads to the size and loss reduction of the structure. For validation purposes, a prototype of the back-to-back coaxial line to AFSIW transition is fabricated and measured for the entire C-band. The simulated and measured results are in good agreement. The proposed transition achieves the measured insertion loss of 0.55 + 0.5 dB (0.28 + 0.25 dB for the transition) and return loss of better than ?11 dB from 4 to 8 GHz.
