  • Métodos para a tomada de decis?o em portfólio de produtos: um levantamento em empresas dos setores eletr?nico, óptico e de informática

    摘要: Decision making in product portfolio is a relevant aspect, not only to the good performance of product development, but also to support in the process of business strategy. This article has the objective to present and analyze the main methods for decision making in product portfolio used by large and medium enterprises that operate in Brazil, in electronic, optical and computer sectors. A survey research was conducted in a sample of 40 companies. It was noted, that most of these companies, especially the middle sized companies, followed an informal pattern for decision-making in product portfolio, which is guided, mainly, by the perception of senior management. Among the employed formal methods, financial, market research and mapping methods are the most present in the surveyed sectors.

    摘要: image processing procedure, Satellite images captured in a variety of modalities serve as the primary source for many applications. Satellite image processing extracts the image /spectral information represented in the form of pixels, classifies those pixels based on the similarity measures and further analyzes the inherent data, as per the requirements. The foremost objective of satellite processing is to automatically categorize the pixels in an image into the respective land cover class labels or themes. These pixels are classified by its spectral information and it is determined by the relative reflectance in various bands of wavelength. The accuracy and outcomes of any satellite the application domain, directly depends on its quality. Satellite images are invariably degraded by speckle noise. Hence, preprocessing the images for speckle noise suppression and/or cloud removal is deemed an inevitable component in satellite image processing. Researchers have proposed a spectrum of methods for speckle noise/cloud removal. A detailed review on the significant research publications on speckle noise removal are summarized in this article. The consolidation of methodology merits and demerits of the select research articles are presented in this paper.   • A review of image-based automatic facial landmark identification techniques

    摘要: The accurate identification of landmarks within facial images is an important step in the completion of a number of higher-order computer vision tasks such as facial recognition and facial expression analysis. While being an intuitive and simple task for human vision, it has taken decades of research, an increase in the availability of quality data sets, and a dramatic improvement in computational processing power to achieve near-human accuracy in landmark localisation. The intent of this paper is to provide a review of the current facial landmarking literature, outlining the significant progress that has been made in the field from classical generative methods to more modern techniques such as sophisticated deep neural network architectures. This review considers a generalised facial landmarking problem and provides experimental examples for each stage in the process, reporting repeatable benchmarks across a number of publicly available datasets and linking the results of these examples to the recently reported performance in the literature.

  • Influence of lighting colour temperature on indoor thermal perception: A strategy to save energy from the HVAC installations

    摘要: This paper examines how the lighting colour temperature affects indoor thermal comfort. A test room with three separate environments was set and, in each one of them, a lamp with a different colour temperature was positioned to evaluate the influence of a cold, neutral and warm light. The colour temperatures of the used lamps were 11,530 K, 4,000 K and 1,772 K respectively. During each test, while complying with the EN 12464-1, a lighting level of 500 lx and a uniformity coefficient higher than or equal to 0.7 were maintained. With an air temperature of about 22 °C, 42 people were interviewed and filled a questionnaire structured according to the ISO 10551 to judge the resulting thermal comfort. The study reported a certain influence of the lighting colour temperature on people’s thermal perception which was only lower than the one related to the gender. With respect to the ASHRAE 7-point scale, being exposed to the different types of light led to a decrease (0.44 units under cold light) in the mean value of the votes given by the interviewees to judge their thermal perception. Such condition gives the possibility to increase, without varying the thermal perception of the subjects, the air temperature of 1.25 °C, 0.46 °C and 0.23 °C with cold, neutral and warm light respectively. Finally a cross tabulation analysis was performed to compare the votes of the participants before and after they were exposed to the different lights with those predicted by the Predicted Mean Vote (PMV).

    摘要: On the 5th of January 2018, an unedited prepublication version of the 2017 Decadal Survey was released titled, “Thriving on Our Changing Planet A Decadal Strategy for Earth Observation from Space.” This 700 page document that was developed over more than two years with broad input from the Earth science and applications communities. Five targeted observables are indicated as observing system priorities in this early release version. One of these is surface biology and geology. In this category, a set of science and applications targets are identified including: ground/water temperature, snow reflectivity, active geologic processes, vegetation traits and algal biomass. The candidate measurement approach is described as, “Hyperspectral imagery in the visible and shortwave infrared, multi- or hyperspectral imagery in the thermal IR.” This paper reviews some of the key new science and applications objectives, and outlines some measurement approaches that could be used to address this guidance in the area of global visible to short wavelength infrared imaging spectroscopy.

While this is agreed by many, there is no broad consensus yet on access APIs and paradigms, such as query languages versus procedural inter-faces. Further, questions of efficient storage organization and processing of the underlying multi-dimensional arrays arise. In our contribution we provide a technology overview on datacube approaches, involving Array Databases, systems with procedural (typically python) interfaces, array libraries, and more.

For solving this problem, methods developed are presented which based on onboard discrete ?ltering of measurements, approximation and spline interpolation. We represent accuracy estimates obtained by computer simulation for the alignment veri?cation of the star sensors and telescope onboard a land-survey satellite.

  • A Modified Min-Norm for Time Delay and Interface Roughness Estimation by Ground Penetrating Radar: Experimental Results

    摘要: The development of methods and tools for the road infrastructure sustainable management is a research challenge, especially for nondestructive testing methods. This letter focuses on the estimation of the thickness of civil engineering structures, like pavements, and more precisely, the time delay and interface roughness. We propose a modified Min-Norm algorithm which allows efficiently estimating the time delay and interface roughness without the eigenvalue decomposition. Therefore, it has a smaller computational load compared with subspace-based methods. The experimental results show the efficiency of the proposed algorithm.

  • Survey and technological analysis of laser and its defense applications

    摘要: The laser technology has made remarkable progress over the past couple of decades. It is being widely employed in diverse domains, such as holography, space sciences, spectroscopy, medical sciences, micro and power electronics, industrial engineering, and most distinctively, as directed energy military weapons. Owing to their active transmissions, laser systems are similar to microwave radars to some extent; however, unlike conventional radars, the laser operates at very high frequencies thus making it a potent enabler of narrow-beam and high energy aerial deployments, both in offensive and defensive roles. In modern avionics systems, laser target indicators and beam riders are the most common devices that are used to direct the Laser Guided Weapons (LGW) accurately to the ground targets. Additionally, compact size and outstanding angular resolution of laser-based systems motivate their use for drones and unmanned aerial applications. Moreover, the narrow-beam divergence of laser emissions offers a low probability of intercept, making it a suitable contender for secure transmissions and safety-critical operations. Furthermore, the developments in space sciences and laser technology have given synergistic potential outcomes to use laser systems in space operations. This paper comprehensively reviews laser applications and projects for strategic defense actions on the ground or in space. Additionally, a detailed analysis has been done on recent advancements of the laser technology for target indicators and range-finders. It also reviews the advancements in the field of laser communications for surveillance, its earlier state of the art, and ongoing scientific research and advancements in the domain of high energy directed laser weapons that have revolutionized the evolving military battlefield. Besides offering a comprehensive taxonomy, the paper also critically analyzes some of the recent contributions in the associated domains.

  • Photovoltaic Cell Cooling as a Facilitator for MPPT

    摘要: Mobile applications (apps) are software developed for use on mobile devices and made available through app stores. App stores are highly competitive markets where developers need to cater to a large number of users spanning multiple countries. This work hypothesizes that there exist country differences in mobile app user behavior and conducts one of the largest surveys to date of app users across the world, in order to identify the precise nature of those differences. The survey investigated user adoption of the app store concept, app needs, and rationale for selecting or abandoning an app. We collected data from more than 15 countries, including USA, China, Japan, Germany, France, Brazil, United Kingdom, Italy, Russia, India, Canada, Spain, Australia, Mexico, and South Korea. Analysis of data provided by 4,824 participants showed signi?cant differences in app user behaviors across countries, for example users from USA are more likely to download medical apps, users from the United Kingdom and Canada are more likely to be in?uenced by price, users from Japan and Australia are less likely to rate apps. Analysis of the results revealed new challenges to market-driven software engineering related to packaging requirements, feature space, quality expectations, app store dependency, price sensitivity, and ecosystem effect.
