    摘要: This paper proposes a three-phase solar inverter with integrated boost function. The circuit operating principle is based on current unfolding and injection method. This approach requires only two high frequency switches for the boost function as well as shaping its output currents, thus leading to a significant reduction in switching losses. Other switches only operate at line frequency to unfold the output currents to sinusoidal three-phase currents, and thus can be optimized to reduce conduction losses. The proposed inverter therefore could deliver high efficiency. This paper discusses the basic operating principle and control method for the inverter. The paper proposes an active damping method to overcome intrinsic oscillation due to overlapping time in switching operation. It also shows that the inverter is capable of supplying reactive power up to a limit of 0.866 power factor. Stable operation of the proposed inverter is confirmed by both simulation and experiment.

    摘要: The development of PV-systems has increased due to the high demand for clean energy. Used worldwide in the distributed power generation markets, the photovoltaic energy must not only be maximized, but also adapted to the global standards on harmonic emissions towards the power utility. Hence, the tracking of the maximum power point and the harmonic filtering becomes necessary. A three-phase single stage grid-connected Photovoltaic system consisting of a photovoltaic array and a three-phase PWM inverter coupled through the LCL-filter to the electrical grid is studied in this paper. A new control design is developed to maximize power in the side of PV panels and to ensure a unit power factor at the grid side. Grid synchronization is provided by a three-phase PLL (Phase-Locked Loop) and the closed-loop stability is demonstrated using Lyapunov analysis. Simulation results clearly illustrate that the proposed controller has achieved all of its objectives. In order to demonstrate the performance of the LCL-filter in minimizing the harmonics produced by the photovoltaic inverter, the frequency response of the injected currents was compared to that obtained using a simple L-filter.

    摘要: Ratings of utility-scale grid-tied photovoltaic (PV) inverters are typically no more than 1 MVA. This implies that a large number of inverters are usually installed in utility-scale PV energy-conversion systems. Given the complexity of inverter dynamic models (typical models are high dimension and nonlinear), reduced-order models for inverters are critical for performance assessment and accurate representation of PV-system dynamics in the bulk power grid with limited computational burden. In this paper, we formulate a reduced-order model for parallel-connected grid-tied three-phase PV inverters that has the same structure and model order as a single inverter. We adopt a single-diode model for the PV modules, and each inverter is assumed to be a single-stage dc-ac voltage-source converter with an input dc-link capacitor and an LCL output filter. The control architecture includes a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm, a dc-link voltage controller, a reactive power controller, a current controller, and a phase-locked loop for grid synchronization. Numerical simulations demonstrate the computational benefits and accuracy of the reduced-order model.

  • PID Control of a Three Phase Photovoltaic Inverter Tied to a Grid Based on a 120-Degree Bus Clamp PWM

    摘要: This paper presents a new operating type of a three phase photovoltaic PID current control system connected to the low voltage distribution grid. This operating type introduces a 120-degree bus clamp PWM control method (120° BC-PWM). A 120° BC-PWM is a special switching sequences technique employing bus clamp sequences that use only one phase under a PWM and PID control state every 60° while the other phases are being clamped. The BC-PWM method was used to generate six PWM signals to control a three phase inverter system every 60° with constant power input and a small dc link film capacitor. The main objective of this paper is to use new PWM techniques with a PID current control method to reduce the switching losses of three phase inverters. The losses were reduced to 1/3th for each transistor by reducing the time operation for each transistor. The simulation results of the BC-PWM method show an improvement in the performance of the three phase inverter system connected to the grid. Simulation setup of the system obtained is built by using a SiC MOSFET, 5 kVA, 400 V line-line and 25 kHz switching frequency. The PID control is not continuously active for each phase but is operational in 60° and saturated at 120° in a half period. Following a proper tuning of the windup, it recovers very easily.

    摘要: The present paper deals with a speed sensorless technique of vector controlled induction motor drive fed from solar PV (Photovoltaic) array used for water pumping. This sensorless technique is based stator flux oriented in stationary reference frame. The special feature of the proposed topology is the additional feedforward loop added to the existing vector control loop, which makes it decoupled as a key feature of vector control. The mechanical sensorless induction motor drive is powered by solar photovoltaic (SPV) array to be utilized to drive the submersible water pump. The simulation of proposed topology is performed in MATLAB/Simulink environment and its performance is validated on test setup developed in the laboratory.

    摘要: Conventional Buck, Boost and Buck-Boost converters are not suitable for low and medium voltage Induction Motor (IM) drive applications. Moreover, these DC-DC converters not suitable for power factor correction, constant output voltage and to reduce harmonic distortion. In order to avoid drawbacks of basic DC-DC converters, three advanced DC-DC converters are studied in this article, namely, SEPIC, Zeta and Landsman converters. These converters work as Buck-Boost converters based on load requirement. The P&O MPPT technique is used to track the fast change of solar irradiances by the iterative process. Furthermore, it is used for the soft starting of squirrel cage induction motor. These converters output given to three-phase Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) to run the induction motor drive. The three converters operation is compared for IM drive applications by using MATAB Simulink software.
