摘要: In this paper, we study the time-of-arrival (TOA) based self-calibration problem of dual-microphone array for known and unknown rack distance, and also for different combinations of dimension for the af?ne spaces spanned by the receivers and by the senders. Particularly, we analyze the minimum cases and present minimum solvers for the case of microphones and speakers in 3-D/3-D, in 2-D/3-D, and in 3-D/2-D, with given or unknown rack length. We identify for each of these minimal problems the number of solutions in general and develop ef?cient and numerically stable, non-iterative solvers. Solving these problems are of both theoretical and practical interest. This includes understanding what the minimal problems are and how and when they can be solved. The solvers can be used to initialize local optimization algorithms for ?nding the maximum likelihood estimate of the parameters. The solvers can also be used for robust estimation of the parameters in the presence of outliers, using, e.g., RANSAC algorithms. We demonstrate that the proposed solvers are numerically stable in synthetic experiments. We also demonstrate how the solvers can be used with the RANSAC paradigm. We also apply our method for several real data experiments, using ultra-wide-band measurements and using acoustic data.

摘要: Digital television signal is a promising signal of opportunity for wireless positioning. This paper studies the time of arrival (TOA) estimation on the European standard DVB-T signals in the context of positioning. Theoretical analysis on the autocorrelation of the pilot signal and multipath error envelop suggests that DVB-T has the appropriate characteristics for positioning. A software defined radio-based DVB-T receiver is developed for field testing, in which the radio frequency DVB-T signals are first sampled by universal software radio peripheral, and then algorithms of the coarse symbol synchronization, the pilot detection, the first path acquisition, and the delay tracking are sequentially performed to obtain the TOA estimation. To quantify the TOA tracking results on real DVB-T signals, field testing campaigns are carried out in five cities in Southern France. Test results showed that, in the high signal-noise ratio condition, the 2-σ error interval is within 1 m. By taking into account all the field tests, the interval of 95% accuracy is within 4 m and the corresponding C/N0 varies from 48 to 62 dB-Hz. In addition, with the developed TOA estimation method, the synchronization of the emitters with global positioning system time is evaluated and the distance difference of the multiple emitters within single frequency networks are also measured during the tests.

摘要: The high precision ranging using ultra wideband (UWB) signals is expected for various applications. However, UWB requires mitigation of narrowband interference (NBI) from other wireless systems. There have been many studies of adaptive notch ?lters to cope with NBI at various frequencies. This paper proposes a novel NBI mitigation method which utilizes frequency dependence characteristics in array antennas. We use power inversion to direct nulls to large-power input, which realizes NBI only suppression with a small calculation cost. The results show that the proposed method can obtain lower bit error rate. The proposed method can cope with variously directional and multiple-frequency NBIs without a priori knowledge of the incident waves.

摘要: Kalman ?lter (KF) has been widely used in data ?ltering and smoothing applications. However, it is generally limited by the requirement of white-Gaussian noise. In practical applications, such as indoor localization, TOA distance ranging results are mostly affected by multipath and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) factors, which introduces colored Gaussian noise into the system. In this study, we intend to take advantage of maximum correntropy criterion to enhance the ranging performance. We proposed a Constrained Kalman Filter based on the Maximum Correntropy Criterion (MCC-CKF) to realize high-accuracy TOA ranging in the extreme environments of multipath and NLOS.

Performance evaluation of IR-UWB detectors and fusion techniques for UWB transceiver platforms
摘要: In this paper, we analyse the performance of a multi-pulse impulse radio based ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) detector in an AWGN setting and provide different fusion strategies for fusing these detector outputs. To enable the transceiver to be used for multiple applications, the designers have different types of detectors such as energy detectors, amplitude detectors, etc., built in to a single transceiver architecture. In this paper, we derive the detection performance equation for commonly used detectors in terms of false alarm rate, shape of the pulse, and number of UWB pulses used in the detection and apply these in the fusion algorithms. We show that the performance can be improved by approximately 4 dB in terms of signal to noise ratio (SNR) for high probability of detection of a UWB signal (95%), by fusing decisions from multiple detector types compared to a standalone energy detector, in a practical scenario.

摘要: In absence of clock synchronization, Two-Way Ranging (TWR) is the most commonly used technique for measuring the distance between two wireless transceivers. The existing time-of-flight (TOF) error estimation model, the IEEE 802.15.4-2011 standard, is specifically based on clock drift error. However, it is insufficient when an in-depth comparative analysis of different TWR methods is required. In this paper, we propose an extended TOF error estimation model for TWR methods, based on the IEEE 802.15.4 standard. Using the proposed model, we perform an analytical study of TOF error estimation among different TWR methods. The model is validated with numerical simulation results. Moreover, we demonstrate the pitfalls of the symmetric double-sided TWR (SDS-TWR) method, which is commonly used to reduce the TOF error due to clock drifts.

摘要: This paper describes propagation measurements of an Ultra Wide Band (UWB) pulse along a full-scale wind turbine blade. The aim is to use the UWB channel characteristics to determine the deflection of the wind turbine blade under different wind loads. The frequency response is measured from 1 to 20 GHz and by use of Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) studied the delay domain. It has been found challenging to determine the deflection of the blade only by looking at the delay difference between the Line-Of-Sight (LOS) pulse and a pulse reflected from the blade. To determine from which area of the blade the reflection originates a ray-tracing study incorporating a model of the curvature of the blade have been conducted. This showed the area causing the reflections depended highly on the placement of the antenna on the wind turbine blade.
