Design of High Temperature Superconducting Dual-Band Filter with Multiple Transmission Zeros
摘要: A multi-order dual-band high temperature superconducting (HTS) bandpass filter (BPF) with multiple transmission zeros (TZs) is designed in this paper. The theoretical characteristics of the introduction of TZs by the electric and magnetic mixed coupling, and the cascade quadruplet (CQ) cross-coupling structures are analyzed, respectively. These two methods can be applied to the design of the multi-mode compact dual-band HTS BPF with controllable central frequency, bandwidth and TZs. For demonstration, a Y-shape tunable resonator structure which can simultaneously implement the internal electric and magnetic mixed coupling, and the external cross coupling is constructed to achieve the proposed dual-band BPF. The external quality factors required by the two passbands and the feasibility of independently adjusting the coupling strength between adjacent resonators are analyzed. Finally, a 6-order dual-band HTS BPF with the center frequencies of 1490MHz (bandwidth of 40 MHz) and 2340MHz (bandwidth of 80 MHz) is designed and fabricated on the double-sided YBCO/MgO/YBCO HTS thin films with the size of 17.2mm×14.7mm (0.20λg × 0.17λg), and there are multiple of TZs located outside the two passbands, respectively. The out-of-band rejections are greatly improved to 70dB and 80dB due to these TZs, which fully exhibits the advantages of the proposed dual-band BPF. The measured results are in good agreement with the simulated ones.

Compact D-CRLH resonator for low-pass filter with wide rejection band, high roll-off, and transmission zeros
摘要: A compact low-pass filter (LPF) with wide rejection band based on T-type circuit of an enhanced dual composite right-/left-handed (D-CRLH) resonator is presented in this paper. The resonator has only one cell with series and parallel tank circuit. The parallel LC tank circuit has been realized by an interdigital capacitor and one shorted finger, whereas its series LC tank circuit is realized by an air gap capacitance and a short circuit stub. The filter has wide rejection band bandwidth with three transmission zeros (TZs). The filter bandwidth and TZs frequencies are controlled by the D-CRLH element values. The results of the proposed filter demonstrate minimum insertion loss in passband, high roll-off rate, and good figure of merit. The measured results are in good agreement with the simulated results. The detailed filter design is discussed in terms of circuit modeling, dispersion analysis, and full-wave simulation. Finally, the filter size is compact (0.10 λg) at cut-off frequency.

A Simple WiMAX and RFID band Notched UWB Bandpass Filter and It's susceptibility Study
摘要: An ultra-wideband (UWB) bandpass filter (BPF) with a fractional bandwidth (FBW) of about 110%, transmission zero at the high frequency edge, and band notches at the worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) and radio frequency identification (RFID) band is presented in this paper. The filter is based on single short-circuited stub, U-shaped defected ground structure (DGS) array, two U-shaped resonators and two stepped impedance resonators (SIRs). The filter is compact and exhibits a selective filtering characteristic equivalent to a 3-pole Chebyshev filter. The design procedure has been described and verified by full-wave electromagnetic (EM) simulation and measurement. The proposed filter has low insertion loss, sharp rejection, and excellent in and out band performance. Due to its applications in WiMAX and RFID systems, the filter may be subjected to high EM radiation from the antenna and nearby sources. Therefore, susceptibility study of such filter is very important. Hence, the susceptibility study of the band notched UWB bandpass filter has been carried out by subjecting the structure to an interference source.

Stopband-Extended and Size-Miniaturized Low-Pass Filter with Three Transmission Zeros
摘要: This paper presents a compact structure composed of an upper high-impedance transmission line, a middle extended parallel coupled line, and a pair of inter-coupled symmetrical stubs. Detailed investigation into this structure based on an equivalent circuit analysis reveals that this proposed structure exhibits a quasi-elliptic low-pass filtering response with three transmission zeros. Moreover, the positions of the three transmission zeros can be tuned and reallocated flexibly by choosing the proper circuit parameters. Finally, the design concept is validated through the design, fabrication, and measurement of two exemplary low-pass filters (LPFs) with one single unit and two cascaded asymmetric units. The measured results agree well with the simulated results. In addition, in the range of 1.42 fc to 7.03 fc, the fabricated quasi-elliptic LPFs experimentally demonstrate a very wide upper-stopband of 20 dB using a compact size of only 0.0089λg2, where λg is the guided wavelength of a 50 ? transmission line at the central frequency.

This new configuration achieves to realize two orthogonal resonant modes which allows for independent control of the two resonant frequencies. In addition, a transmission zero is introduced in the guard-bands improving the filter selectivity, while keeping a simple and compact inline topology.

摘要: A miniaturized 28 GHz quartz waveguide band-pass filter using a double-folded structure has been developed. The double-folded structure is used for a footprint reduction less than half of a current single-folded quartz waveguide filter. Some analyses using EM simulation were carried out for studying an electromagnetic coupling between the waveguide resonators. For the double-folded structure, an inductive coupling is appropriate for a main coupling in the vertical direction. The fabricated filter, an 8-pole Chebyshev BPF, has a size of 6.9 × 7.2 × 3.1 mm3 and measured insertion loss was very low such as 0.74 dB which is same as the current single-folded type. Besides, an 8-pole quasi-elliptic BPF was simulated and its attenuation performance was remarkably improved.

A novel compact dual-mode SIW filter with wide rejection band and selective response
摘要: A compact dual-mode substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) bandpass filter with wide upper stopband is presented. A cross shaped slot is etched on the top plane of SIW cavity to alter the second mode (TE201) current distribution and move it closer to the first mode (TE101), to enhance the bandwidth flatness. Removing few via near the excitation ports, provides longer path for the current to resonance and give us the transmission zeros in a simple way. Another 2 TZs are used to improve the stopband by suppressing higher order modes resonances. The designed filter is fabricated and tested and a very good result is achieved to confirm the design idea. There is also a good agreement between the measured and Full Wave simulated results. The fabricated sample realizes a fractional bandwidth of 9.1% at 7.5 GHz center frequency and 2 zeros at 12.5 GHz and 15 GHz.
