  • High Visible Response of Vertical TiO2 Nanoclusters-CdSe Linked by Cysteine

    摘要: Vertically oriented single-crystal TiO2 nanoclusters in tetramethylammonium hydroxide solution were synthesized hydrothermally directly on Ti substrate. N-Type semiconducting CdSe nanoparticles were then introduced deep coating TiO2 nanocrystalss via a two-step procedure using cystein as a surface coupling agent, followed by a subsequent electrodeposition process from selenosulfite to form orderly interconnecting heterojunctions. A key result achievement is that although the TiO2 nanocrystalss are less than 1 μm long, under the help of the bifunctional 2-amino-3-sulfhydrylpropanoic acid molecule linking the acceptor and donor materials, the virtue of strong visible absorption of single crystal TiO2 nanoclusters were fully developed in addition of ultraviolet, so that the heterojunction electrode exhibits excellent photoresponse in photoelectrochemical cells to visible lights, whose contribution is rather significant compared with that of ultraviolet lights. Vertical nanoclusters have advantages of leading electrons directly into the metal Ti substrate while maintaining the large surface area towards the electrolyte. These highly ordered nanohybrids are expected to have potential applications in photochemical solar cells with high efficiency.

  • Fabrication of ternary visible-light-driven semiconductor photocatalyst and its effective photocatalytic performance

    摘要: Heterogeneous semiconductor photocatalysis has been considered as a cost-effective alternative for the eliminating hazardous pollutants and generating sustainable energy. Graphene, a 2D allotrope of carbon, has received significant attentions due to its outstanding properties. In this work, a highly efficient visible-light-driven ternary heterostructure semiconductor RGO/Ag2O/Ag2WO4 (RGAAW) Ag-based photocatalyst was prepared and its photocatalytic activity was evaluated by photodegradation of methylene orange (MO). The morphology, structure and optical absorption properties of the as-prepared RGAAW were characterized by SEM, XRD, XPS, FT-IR and UV?vis DRS, respectively. The obtained result was found that the as-prepared RGAAW exhibited the excellent photocatalytic activity, which was almost 11.5 and 7 times as high as those of individual Ag2O and Ag2WO4, respectively. The enhancement of photocatalytic performance could be attributed to the reduced graphene oxide sheets can function as an electron collector and transporter to lengthen the lifetime of the charge carriers. Moreover, the as-prepared RGAAW showed excellent stability toward the photodegradation of methyl orange (MO). The possible mechanism of photocatalytic activity enhancement was proposed.

    摘要: Dynamic recognition of objects labeled by visible light IDs is numerically investigated for obtaining a high optical signal-to-noise ratio in received optical signals when a relative motion between the objects and observer considerably alters. An averaging effect of pixel values in an image sensor shows a trade-off between reductions in accumulated image sensor noises and spatially varying noises originating from the relative motion. Our results suggest that a real-time optimization of the averaging process is suitable for an efficient recognition of visible light IDs toward applications for the disaster risk reduction.

    摘要: We propose a compact and vibration-resistant receiver for visible light communication (VLC) between vehicles, where the vibration of the vehicle becomes a barrier for reliable communication. To address this problem, we designed a VLC receiver with a micro mirror, an inertial measurement unit (IMU), and an image sensor. A fast-blinking light is scanned by micro mirror and captured by image sensor efficiently, and the micro mirror controlled by IMU cancels the effect of motion of the vehicle. The performance of the proposed receiver is evaluated in experiments. The obtained results suggest that the proposed receiver is suitable for vibration environment.

  • Catalytic deracemization of chiral allenes by sensitized excitation with visible light

    摘要: Chiral compounds exist as enantiomers that are non-superimposable mirror images of each other. Owing to the importance of enantiomerically pure chiral compounds—for example, as active pharmaceutical ingredients—separation of racemates (1:1 mixtures of enantiomers) is extensively performed. Frequently, however, only a single enantiomeric form of a chiral compound is required, which raises the question of how a racemate can be selectively converted into a single enantiomer. Such a deracemization process is entropically disfavoured and cannot be performed by a conventional catalyst in solution. Here we show that it is possible to photochemically deracemize chiral compounds with high enantioselectivity using irradiation with visible light (wavelength of 420 nanometres) in the presence of catalytic quantities (2.5 mole per cent) of a chiral sensitizer. We converted an array of 17 chiral racemic allenes into the respective single enantiomers with 89 to 97 per cent enantiomeric excess. The sensitizer is postulated to operate by triplet energy transfer to the allene, with different energy-transfer efficiencies for the two enantiomers. It thus serves as a unidirectional catalyst that converts one enantiomer but not the other, and the decrease in entropy is compensated by light energy. Photochemical deracemization enables the direct formation of enantiopure materials from a racemic mixture of the same compound, providing a novel approach to the challenge of creating asymmetry.

    摘要: Image quality assessment plays an important role in iris recognition systems because the system performance is affected by low quality iris images. With the development of electronic color imaging, there are more and more researches about visible wavelength (VW) iris recognition. Compared to the near infrared iris images, using VW iris images acquired under unconstrained imaging conditions is a more challenging task for the iris recognition system. However, the number of quality assessment methods for VW iris images is limited. Therefore, it is interested to investigate whether existing no-reference image quality metrics (IQMs) which are designed for natural images can assess the quality of VW iris images. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of 15 selected no-reference IQMs on VW iris biometrics. The experimental results show that several IQMs can assess iris sample quality according to the system performance.

The system contains several VLC LED Lamps, a VLC robot, a smart phone with Robot control App, and a server.

    摘要: Traditional mobile phone camera based visible light communication (VLC) mainly uses line-of-sight (LOS) link, whose performance will be seriously affected by the blooming effect of complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) camera. In this paper, we introduce a mobile phone camera based VLC using non-line-of-sight (NLOS) link. By using our proposed moving exponent average (MEA) algorithm, the VLC system using NLOS link can achieve a data of 5 Kbps at a given transmission distance of 100 cm.

  • Preparation of ZnO Nanoparticles Under Ultrasonic Irradiation and Photocatalytic Performance of ZnO Nanoparticles Multilayer Films

    摘要: Zinc oxide nanoparticles were synthesized by the reaction of an aqueous-alcoholic solution containing zinc nitrate hexahydrate and sodium hydroxide under ultrasonic irradiation at room temperature. The crystallinity, morphology and optical property of ZnO nanoparticles were examined by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and UV-visible spectrophotometer. Zinc oxide nanoparticles multilayer films were prepared dipping glass slide, which had been cleaned with a piranha solution, into a ZnO solution by ultrasonic irradiation. The ZnO nanoparticles multilayer films were evaluated as a photocatalyst in the photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes, such as methylene blue, methyl orange and rhodamine B, under ultraviolet light at 254 nm.

  • Two bimetallic metal–organic frameworks capable of direct photocatalytic degradation of dyes under visible light

    摘要: Two bimetallic metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), specifically {2[LiM(TDA)2(DMF)]·NH2+(CH3)2}n (M = Co (HNU-29) or Zn (HNU-30), TDA = 2,5-thiophenedicarboxylate), were synthesized by solvothermal methods. X-ray crystal structures of the two MOFs showed them to be isostructural. Thus, in both cases, the metal secondary building units were connected by TDA2? ligands to form a 3D framework whose structure can be simplified to the twofold interpenetrated dia net. HNU-29 showed excellent photocatalytic activity for the degradation of methylene blue (MB) under visible light even without the addition of H2O2 as an electron acceptor, remaining stable even after several cycles of reuse. The MB degradation followed first-order kinetics, and the photocatalytic degradation mechanism was found to be related to the effective ligand-to-metal charge transfer within the framework.
