  • High Speed Wireless Internet Using LiFi

    摘要: The internet has become a basic necessity, so with the advancement in technology, people are demanding something faster than WI-FI. Since light is the only medium that can travel fastest than any other source of data transmission else so if we use this medium for internet, it will be the best utilization of medium with a higher data transmission rate. This technology was implemented over and came out with concept of LI-FI Technology. Li-Fi in known for Light-Fidelity, Li-Fi uses an idea of visible light communication (VLC) technology that uses light as a medium to convey fast high-speed communication in a manner like Wi-Fi. Since visible light is present everywhere, the main idea of our review paper is how LI-FI technology can help in security, speed and reliability of internet and even can change our life style. This innovation is actualized utilizing white LED bulbs matched with the Downlink transmitter that can give a higher information transmission rate up to 10Gbps. The main prospective of this paper demonstrates the forthcoming routine of Li-Fi technology innovation and its highlights to expand the execution of information transmission and different applications where Li-Fi has been put to utilize.

    摘要: Visible light communication (VLC) system is a wireless communication from light of the light emitting diode (LED). In this work, we design the voltage reference comparator circuit method for the receiver circuit with data communication via white LED. In this experiment, we evaluate the VLC system of the transmitter circuit and receiver circuit by using bits data communication with the distance 50 to 100 cm. We measure the frequency of the white LED signal detection between the transmitter circuit and the receiver circuit, which the frequency uses about 9.615 kHz. This comparator circuit method can be used to refer the voltage signals of the receiver circuit in VLC system.

  • Determination of Pigments in Virgin and Extra-Virgin Olive Oils: A Comparison between Two Near UV-Vis Spectroscopic Techniques

    摘要: The colour of olive oil is due to the presence of natural pigments belonging to the class of carotenoids, chlorophylls, and their derivatives. These substances, other than being responsible for the colour, an important qualitative feature of the oil, have antioxidant and, more generally, nutraceutical properties and their quantification can be related to the product’s quality and authenticity. In this work, we have quantified the total amount of carotenoids and chlorophylls’ derivatives in several virgin and extra-virgin olive oils produced in Italy, by using two different methods that are based on near-ultraviolet-visible absorption spectroscopy. The first method defines two indexes, K670 and K470, related to absorbance values of oil at wavelengths of 670 and 470 nm, respectively. The second method is based on the mathematical deconvolution of the whole absorption spectrum of the oil to obtain the concentrations of four main pigments present in olive oils: β-carotene, lutein, pheophytin A, and pheophytin B. The concentrations of the total carotenoids and total chlorophylls’ derivatives, as obtained by the two spectroscopic methods, are compared and the results are discussed in view of the practical usefulness of spectroscopic techniques for a fast determination of pigments in olive oil.

    摘要: The fifth generation (5G) telecommunications standards are being developed to meet the growing demands for high-speed wireless networks (i.e., few tens of Gigabits per second). The 5G standard stems largely from an increasing number of users and plethora of different devices, collectively referred to as smart devices, connecting to a network as part of Internet-of-Things (IoT). A few potential technologies have emerged for 5G such as millimeter waves, massive multiple-input multiple-output, and small cell communications. Although these technologies would satisfy the requirements of 5G, there is a complementary alternative wireless technology of optical wireless communications (OWC), which is being considered. As part of OWC, visible light communications (VLC) and optical camera communications (OCC) are the most attractive options for 5G networks and beyond. VLC with huge frequency spectrum integrated with IoT can open up a wide range of indoor and outdoor applications as part of future smart environments. This paper provides an overview of the all-optical IoT (OIoT) focusing on VLC and OCC based potential applications and challenges as part of 5G standards.

  • Distance-Range-Oriented Constellation Design for VLC-SCMA Downlink with Signal-dependent Noise

    摘要: In this paper, the constellation design for a sparse code multiple access (SCMA) based visible light communication (VLC) downlink is studied. The noise at the receiving avalanche photodiode (APD) is dependent on the signal intensity, and the associated design problems are typically intractable. We point out that for such a system both the minimum Euclidean distance (MED) and Rotated-MED based methods are not the optimal optimization objective, and propose a distance-range-oriented (DRO) modulation, where a linear combination of the minimum and maximum Euclidean distance is considered. We observe in the simulation results that the proposed DRO-based scheme outperform the MED and Rotated-MED based ones across a wide range of signal and noise levels.

  • Design of PAM-DMT-based Hybrid Optical OFDM for Visible Light Communications

    摘要: In this letter, a pulse-amplitude-modulated based hybrid optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (PHO-OFDM) scheme is proposed. We use the high order quadrature-amplitude-modulation to replace the one-dimensional pulse-amplitude-modulated on the even subcarriers for compensating the data capacity weakness of the conventional pulse amplitude modulated discrete multitone (PAM-DMT). The combined time-domain PHO-OFDM signal has a larger amplitude range than the original PAM-DMT but with a reduced peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). Besides that, a flexible power allocation method is introduced to the proposed PHO-OFDM systems to fully exploit the whole dynamic range of LEDs. The simulation results show that, under the same average bit rate, the proposed PHO-OFDM scheme has a better bit error rate performance compared with the conventional PAM-DMT scheme, thus demonstrating its application potential in visible light communications.

  • Selective reduction of CO2 to CO under visible light by controlling coordination structures of CeOx-S/ZnIn2S4 hybrid catalysts

    摘要: Engineering the electronic properties of heterogeneous catalysts is an important strategy to enhance their activity towards CO2 reduction. Herein, we prepared partially sulfurized cerium oxide (CeOx-S) nanoclusters with the size less than 2 nm on the surface of ZnIn2S4 layers. Surface electronic properties of CeOx-S nanoclusters are facilely modulated by cerium coordination to sulfur, inducing the emergence of abundant Ce3+ and oxygen vacancies. For the photoreduction of CO2, CeOx-S/ZnIn2S4 hybrid catalysts exhibited a CO productivity of 1.8 mmol g?1, which was twice as higher as that of ZnIn2S4 catalyst using triethylamine as a sacrificial electron donor. Further mechanistic studies reveal that the photogenerated electrons are trapped by oxygen vacancies on CeOx-S/ZnIn2S4 catalysts and subsequently transfer to CO2, benefiting the activation of CO2. Moreover, the extremely high selectivity of CO is derived from the weak adsorption of CO on the surface of CeOx-S/ZnIn2S4 catalysts.

  • Hierarchical Fe2O3 nanorods/TiO2 nanosheets heterostructure: Growth mechanism, enhanced visible-light photocatalytic and photoelectrochemical performances

    摘要: A novel three-dimensional (3D) Fe2O3 nanorods (NRs)/TiO2 nanosheets (NSs) heterostructure is fabricated by employing the TiO2 NSs with dominant high-energy {0 0 1} facets as synthetic template via the facile hydrothermal and chemical bath deposition methods. The structure, morphology and optical property of 3D Fe2O3/TiO2 composites are examined, and the results demonstrate that these samples have pure phase, high crystallinity and good visible-light response. Furthermore, all Fe2O3/TiO2 composites exhibit the superior photocatalytic and photoelectrochemical (PEC) performances compared to pure TiO2 NSs, which should be ascribed to the larger surface area, better optical absorption and efficient electron-hole separation of 3D Fe2O3/TiO2 heterostructure. Among Fe2O3/TiO2 composites, the sample T3 obtained by using 0.05 M iron nitrate at 90 °C for 100 min exhibited the best visible-light photocatalytic activity and PEC performance, which achieves 89.3% photodegradation of Methyl Blue within 120 min and 2.39 mA cm?2 photocurrent density at a potential of 0 V, respectively. The photocatalytic degradation efficiency and photocurrent density of T3 are 1.83 and 11.95 times higher than that of pure TiO2 NSs. In addition, the detailed growth mechanism of Fe2O3 nanomaterials onto TiO2 NSs and the optimization mechanism of photocatalytic and PEC performances are also discussed in present paper.

  • Enhanced degradation of BPA in water by PANI supported Ag/TiO2 nanocomposite under UV and visible light

    摘要: PANI supported Ag@TiO2 nanocomposite was synthesized via oxidative polymerization of aniline on Ag@TiO2. The Ag@TiO2 nanocomposite was synthesized by the photo reduction of Ag nanoparticles on hydrothermally synthesized TiO2 nanofibers. Raman analysis revealed that the anatase phase of TiO2 was synthesized showing typical peaks at 195 cm-1, 396 cm-1, 514 cm-1, and 637 cm-1. The incorporation of PANI, a carbonaceous material was confirmed by appearance of D-band and G-band in Ag@TiO2-PANI that were located at 1505 cm-1 and 1603 cm-1 respectively. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis confirmed the anatase phase of TiO2 was synthesized. Transmission electron microscopy analysis (TEM) analysis revealed that TiO2 nanofibers were synthesized successfully and Ag nanoparticles of different sizes were deposited on their surface. X-ray Photon Spectroscopy (XPS) survey scan of the Ag@TiO2-PANI-nanocomposite revealed that the nanocomposite was made from C, O, Ag, Ti, and N. DRS and Tauc`s plot estimated the band gap of Ag@TiO2-PANI to be 3.0 eV. A comparative study of the photocatalytic performance of Ag@TiO2-PANI catalyst showed better degradation performance under both conditions than pristine TiO2, and Ag@TiO2 with a degradation of up to 99.7% under visible light irradiation. The degradation experiments showed that the reactive species that were dominant in the degradation of BPA were h+ and .O2-. The nanocomposite was re-used to degrade BPA for up to four cycles without losing much of its photocatalytic ability with a removal of at least 90% in the fourth cycle.

  • Microwave Hydrothermal Synthesis of In <sub/>2</sub> O <sub/>3</sub> -ZnO Nanocomposites and Their Enhanced Photoelectrochemical Properties

    摘要: Indium oxide (In2O3) doped zinc oxide (ZnO) nanocomposites were successfully synthesized through a facile microwave hydrothermal method. The products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), N2 adsorption–desorption isotherms (BET) and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The morphology of In2O3-ZnO composites was observed to be like flowers, and the diameter of particles constituting the porous petal was about 30 nm. The photoelectrocatalytic test results showed that the photoelectrocatalytic methylene blue (MB) degradation efficiency using In2O3-ZnO nanocomposites as photocatalysts under visible light irradiation and a certain voltage could reached above 95.3% after 60 min, much higher than that of In2O3 particles and ZnO particles. The enhanced photoelectrocatalytic activity was attributed to the doping of In2O3 and applied voltage, which beneficially reduced the recombination of electrons and holes in the photoelectrocatalytic process, therefore, it promoted the production of active species (?OH and ?O2-).
