  • Filtering two-element waveguide antenna array based on solely resonators

    摘要: This paper presents a design approach of a filtering antenna arrays based on the coupling matrix theory. The approach generates filtering functionality using the resonating array radiating elements and the resonator based feed network regardless to the physical structure. To implement the approach, a novel topology for a two-element array is presented, here three rectangular waveguide cavity resonators have been employed to form the filtering array. The array has a fractional bandwidth of 10% at the centre frequency 10 GHz with a reflection coefficient magnitude within the passband of 20 dB. The realised gain over the passband is 9.8 ± 0.4 dBi. The array has been fabricated and the measurements are in very good agreement with the simulations, validating the approach.

    摘要: This paper provides information about the results of investigation of circular dielectric filled waveguide with metal ridges. One of the most important characteristics of waveguide structures are cutoff wave numbers. In our research we focus on cutoff wave numbers of the dominant mode and higher order modes. So, the method which is applied is the partial regions method. The researched structure has metal ridges and corners so a singularity of electromagnetic fields is considered by adding special functions in equations. Equations for electromagnetic field components are presented. Besides cutoff wave numbers the pictures of isoline of electromagnetic field are obtained. These results can be useful to create filters, diplexers and others devices based on circular dielectric filled waveguide with metal ridges. The computed results are found for different number of series terms in expansion and different numbers of approximating functions, so it allows to estimate the accuracy of the algorithm.

  • Two-dimensional optical chimera states in an array of coupled waveguide resonators

    摘要: Two-dimensional arrays of coupled waveguides or coupled microcavities allow us to confine and manipulate light. Based on a paradigmatic envelope equation, we show that these devices, subject to a coherent optical injection, support coexistence between a coherent and incoherent emission. In this regime, we show that two-dimensional chimera states can be generated. Depending on initial conditions, the system exhibits a family of two-dimensional chimera states and interaction between them. We characterize these two-dimensional structures by computing their Lyapunov spectrum and Yorke–Kaplan dimension. Finally, we show that two-dimensional chimera states are of spatiotemporal chaotic nature.

  • Strong Coupling of a Single Photon to a Magnetic Vortex

    摘要: Strong light-matter coupling means that cavity photons and other type of matter excitations are coherently exchanged. It is used to couple different qubits (matter) via a quantum bus (photons) or to communicate different type of excitations, e.g., transducing light into phonons or magnons. An unexplored, so far, interface is the coupling between light and topologically protected particle-like excitations as magnetic domain walls, skyrmions or vortices. Here, we show theoretically that a single photon living in a superconducting cavity can be strongly coupled to the gyrotropic mode of a magnetic vortex in a nanodisc. We combine numerical and analytical calculations for a superconducting coplanar waveguide resonator and different realizations of the nanodisc (materials and sizes). We show that, for enhancing the coupling, constrictions fabricated in the resonator are crucial, allowing to reach the strong coupling in CoFe discs of radius 200 ? 400 nm having resonance frequencies of few GHz. The strong coupling regime permits to coherently exchange a single photon and quanta of vortex gyration. Thus, our calculations show that the device proposed here serves as a transducer between photons and gyrating vortices, opening the way to complement superconducting qubits with topologically protected spin-excitations like vortices or skyrmions. We finish by discussing potential applications in quantum data processing based on the exploitation of the vortex as a short-wavelength magnon emitter.

  • Single coupled cavity filter design with dielectric resonators posts for millimeter‐wave applications

    摘要: In this work, a single coupled cavity has presented for millimeter-wave applications. The cavity is modeled to study the effect on the quality factor by adding cylindrical posts to coupled cavity resonator. This cavity model demonstrates a higher quality factor result and better performance compare to empty substrate integrated waveguide (ESIW) filter. The concept of enhancing the quality factor by adding posts is achieved. Based on this concept, the coupled cavity and bandpass filter are presented to show the feasibility of the fabrication process for building an ESIW filter where cylindrical posts is placed in middle on the planar substrate. The introduced cavity offers very good performance around (1%) fractal bandwidth at 24.7 GHz center frequency with Q-factor of 2236. A cavity prototype is fabricated and measured where measurements agree well with simulation.
