A Novel Miniaturized Planar Ultra-Wideband Antenna
摘要: A novel miniaturized planar ultra-wideband antenna is proposed. The antenna design comprises an electromagnetically coupled structure and a tapered radiating slot, while a triangular slot is etched on the ground plane. The antenna miniaturization is realized by adopting an electromagnetically coupled structure formed by the notched half-ellipse patch and the strip attached to the ground. The proposed antenna can yield a large 10-dB impedance bandwidth ranging from 1.5 to 10.4 GHz with satisfactory radiation properties. It also features a physical size of 37.4 mm × 64 mm, equivalent to a compact electrical size of 0.19λ × 0.32λ at 1.5 GHz. The important design parameters are analyzed to comprehend the operating principle of the antenna. A good agreement between the simulated and measured results is achieved.

摘要: A wideband circularly polarized (CP) patch antenna with enhanced axial ratio (AR) bandwidth via co-design of feeding network is proposed in this paper. One λ/4 resonator and one λ/2 resonator are introduced and coupled in proximity to two orthogonal points of a square patch radiator to excite two orthogonal modes. These two resonators not only function as impedance matching elements to achieve equal magnitude of two orthogonal modes in a wide frequency band, but also provide the required 90° phase difference. In this way, two minima in the AR response appear, resulting in extended AR bandwidth. Simulated results demonstrate that 2% 3-dB AR bandwidth is achieved on a low profile of 0.014 λ0.

Compact Wideband Reflective/Absorptive Bandstop Filter With Multitransmission Zeros
摘要: Novel wideband re?ective bandstop ?lters (RBSFs) and absorptive bandstop ?lters (ABSFs) with high stopband rejection (SR) and good frequency selectivity are proposed. Based on a coupled line (CL) with an open-circuited stub, a broad stopband response with three transmission zeros (TZs) is implemented in a compact circuit con?guration. Two modi?ed CL structures are loaded at the ports resulting in two additional TZs. In addition, a grounded resistor is introduced to absorb unwanted signals in the stopband. For demonstration, the ?ve-zero RBSFs and three-zero ABSFs operating at 2 GHz are designed and built. The re?ective ?lter shows a 35-dB SR with 79.5% relative bandwidth (RB). The absorptive ?lter with 69.5% RB of 24-dB SR achieves an all-passband 12.2-dB return loss. Good agreements between simulated and measured results are observed.

Regional Manufacturing Cost Structures and Supply Chain Considerations for SiC Power Electronics in Medium Voltage Motor Drives
摘要: With the growth in wide bandgap (WBG) semiconductors, specifically Silicon Carbide (SiC), the technology has matured enough to highlight a need to understand the drivers of manufacturing cost, regional manufacturing costs, and plant location decisions. Further, ongoing research and investment, necessitates analytical analysis to help inform development of wide bandgap technologies. The paper explores the anticipated device, module, and motor drive cost at volume manufacturing. It additionally outlines the current regional contributors to the supply chain and proposes how the base models can be used to evaluate the cost reduction potential of proposed research advances.

Compact wideband bowtie dipole orthomode transducer
摘要: A compact wideband orthomode transducer (OMT) with an octave bandwidth is proposed for a 0.56-1.12 GHz receiver system in the five hundred meter aperture spherical radio telescope. The OMT operates in a cryostat at a temperature of 70 K and therefore it is critical to minimize its dimension while insuring good electrical properties. The complete OMT comprises 2 bowtie dipoles orthogonally arranged in a circular waveguide. Because of the innovative structure, competing modes, TM01 TE21, and TE01, have been effectively suppressed, and the bandwidth of the dominate mode TE11 has achieved to 2.08:1. The final optimized OMT has a length of 300 mm, shorter than a half of the popular quardruple-ridged waveguide OMT. Measurements at room temperature agree well with simulation results, with a reflection coefficient below ?10 dB for both polarizations and cross-coupling levels of ?30.5 dB over the whole required frequency range.

Dual-Linear Polarized Phased Array with 9:1 Bandwidth and 60° Scanning off Broadside
摘要: We present for the first time a novel dual-linear polarized tightly coupled dipole array (TCDA) with integrated balun operating across a 9:1 bandwidth, from 2GHz to 18GHz. This dual-linear polarized array employs a tightly coupled dipole topology and scans down to 60° from boresight. The overall geometry consists of cross-located tightly coupled dipoles integrated with a folded Marchand balun that serves as an impedance transformer to achieve a wideband feeding network. Notably, the traditional dielectric superstrate is replaced with double layers of frequency selective surfaces (FSS) to enable scanning down to 60° in both E-, H-, and diagonal (D-) planes across the entire band. The design achieves VSWR<3 across 2 to 18GHz at broadside. This dual-polarized array is also demonstrated to have a good polarization isolation of -20dB for most of the band. The array’s total height is less than 12mm (λlow/10). The design is validated through fabrication and testing of an 11×11 prototype. Measurements of this prototype are presented and are in good agreement with simulations.

摘要: A new invariant to the target Doppler spectrum algorithm of an acoustic signal detection and target localization is suggested. Statistical synthesis of the signal detection algorithm has been carried out under the assumption of a normal signal and noise probability density function for the case of a spatially distributed multi element acoustic antenna. The method developed can be used for both passive and active target localizations. Experimental results are presented.

摘要: The results of the fractal analysis of the gravitational waves generated by a binary black hole merger and registered first on September 14, 2015 at 09:50:45 UTC by two detectors of the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (United States) are considered. Being a unique ultra-wideband natural process, the gravitational waves were appeared to be fractal one too. Their fractal structure is described by the set of numerical characteristics based on estimation of different fractal dimensions. The results obtained are widely discussed.

Lightweight Ultra-Wideband RCS Reduction Structure using Double-Layer Metasurfaces
摘要: In this paper, we propose the design of a lightweight RCS reduction structure using double-layer metasurfaces. The structure is composed of two layers of metasurfaces spaced by PMI foams. To extend the bandwidth, two unit structures are firstly designed to operating in two respective bands for circularly polarized (CP) waves, which are then combined to act as the unit structure of the double-layer metasurface. The metasurface is expected to operate in two continuous bands. Nevertheless, due to the couplings between the two unit structures, there is Fano resonance that prohibits merging of the two bands. To solve this problem, we tune the resonant frequency of the bottom unit structure to suppress the Fano resonance and obtain a merged band. The combined unit structure is employed as the element of chessboard configuration, which can reduce RCS by more than 10dB in an ultra-wideband (4.5-16.5GHz). We designed, fabricated and measured a lightweight prototype (the aerial density is 726g/m2). Both the simulation and experiment result verify the design. This work provides an effective method of extending the operation band of RCS reduction without sacrificing the efficiency.

By integrating high-power photodiodes proximal to the transmit aperture’s radiating elements, dense, lightweight, and broadband array designs are realized. Several manifestations of this idea are discussed, emphasizing different application-specific design choices.
