    摘要: This paper presents a hybrid single-inductor bipolar-output (SIBO) DC-DC converter for active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) displays which are relatively more sensitive to the supply noises on their positive supply. This design significantly improves the display quality by achieving a near-zero voltage ripple at the positive output thanks to the negative output floating and the use of low-power shunt regulators. In addition, with the hybrid topology and the proposed cross-coupled bootstrap-based level-shifter with a dual- PMOS inverter buffer, low-voltage devices without deep-N-well are used, reducing the chip area and cost. The proposed converter is implemented in a 0.35-μm CMOS process with 5-V devices. The targeted output voltages are 5.3V and ?4.7V. Operating at 1MHz, the measured positive output ripple is lower than 1mV in all the conditions. The measured peak power efficiency is 89.3% at 1.1W output power. The maximum output power is 3.5W.

  • Nonlinear Analysis Methods Applied on Grid-Connected Photovoltaic (PV) Systems Driven by Power Electronic Converters

    摘要: A novel method of analysis is deployed in detail on the basis of nonlinear systems theory with aim to design suitable controllers with guaranteed stability for grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) systems driven by power converters. By this method, all the system nonlinearities are taken into account to allow a reliable analysis in a wide range of operation and to avoid instabilities that as shown in the paper can be occurred by inappropriate design. To this end, firstly a detailed accurate nonlinear dynamic model is presented for the PV system by including a cascade-mode control scheme. Then, taking into account the closed-loop system and incorporating the concept of input-to-state stability (ISS), a rigorous novel stability analysis is developed which achieves to prove asymptotic stability of the desired equilibrium point. A multi-step process is deployed in which the control loops operating in cascade-mode are involved. However, since the cascaded-mode control scheme and analysis is based on the time-scale separation principle, a systematic tuning method is conducted for the accurate gain selection of both inner-loop and outer-loop controllers which is based on the construction of suitable Lyapunov functions. To further validate the overall analysis, experimental results are carried out.

    摘要: a non-coupled high gain DC-DC converter is introduced in this article. It is based on ?uk converter, also consists of two inductors, which are charged in parallel by input source and discharged in series. The voltage gain of the proposed converter is improved, while it has no transformers and coupled inductors. Furthermore, the voltage stress across the switches is decreased. Hence, switches with lower voltage level can be used in the proposed converter. Fortunately, these switches have low ON-state resistance ((cid:1792)(cid:1804)(cid:1819).(cid:1815)(cid:1814) ), which causes decreasing in switch conduction losses. Furthermore, the proposed converter has high efficiency as well as simple control system. Finally, the principle operation and simulation results are presented.

  • Large-signal analysis based on nonlinear algebraic equations for an integrated photovoltaic modulea??converter system

    摘要: Photovoltaic (PV) systems show nonlinear current–voltage characteristics that depend on both the temperature and the level of solar radiation. Impedance matching is required to achieve the optimal power transfer from such nonlinear PV systems under various temperatures and solar intensities. An efficient analysis method is proposed herein to obtain the characteristics of the PV panel and to simulate the whole system consisting of a PV panel and a converter. The aim is to enable large-signal analysis of an integrated photovoltaic module–converter system based on impedance matching. The Newton–Raphson method is used to obtain the solution of the nonlinear system of equations corresponding to a discrete equivalent circuit model. Various characteristics of the PV system and the simulation results for the whole system are obtained from the resulting linearized model.

  • Comparison of Performance Measures for PV based Super-Lift Luo-Converter using Hybrid Controller with Conventional Controller

    摘要: The paper presents design and analyze of PV based Super-lift Luo converter with different controllers in the modern technology of DC-DC converter. The Luo converter provides output voltage which is positive from positive source voltage. By using this converter power density obtained is high with less ripple content in voltage and current profile. It is proven from the Mathematical modeling that the output voltage increases in geometric progression, thereby efficiency of the converter increases. The controller parameters in PI controller are tuned using Ziegler Nichols tuning algorithm. The paper proposes a design of hybrid controller which gives good transient performance compared with conventional PI controller. Using Simulink the proposed converter with its control circuit is implemented. The main advantage of this proposed converter based on photo voltaic system is that it produces voltages increasing in geometric progression. The converter has proved to be robustness around the operating point. In various operating condition, the dynamic performance with input voltage variations and load fluctuation is good. The simulation performance closely coincides with the theoretical analysis. The settling time and overshoot obtained using hybrid controller is compared with fuzzy controller and conventional controller and it is proven that hybrid controller has good dynamic performance. The real time implementation with solar PV cell is also carried out. The converter finds wide application in switch mode power supply and speed control of DC motors.

    摘要: This paper proposes a power optimized based converter and its control for low voltage solar photovoltaic (PV) modules. For the grid tied solar PV system, the dc-bus voltage must be maintained more than a minimum level for its satisfactory working. In optimized architecture, each PV module is connected with a non isolated high gain DC-DC converter. These converters boost up the PV voltage as well as harvest the maximum solar energy. In the case of shadow, aging and fast change in solar insolation profile on each PV modules; it is able to harvest the maximum power. For maximum power harvesting, fuzzy logic control (FLC) is used. Each PV module with high gain DC-DC converter is connected at the common DC link. The DC power is converted into AC power by using voltage source Inverter (VSI). The VSC is controlled to stabilize dc-link voltage, synchronize with grid supply and to achieve low total harmonic distortion (THDs) in grid current under feeding non linear loads. For switching of a VSC, hysteresis control is used. Proposed model is developed using MATLAB 2015a and results are obtained under various operating conditions.

  • A CMOS-Based Energy Harvesting Approach for Laterally Arrayed Multibandgap Concentrated Photovoltaic Systems

    摘要: This article presents an energy harvesting approach for a concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) system based on cell-block-level integrated CMOS converters. The CPV system, built upon the laterally arrayed multibandgap (LAMB) cell structure, is a potentially higher-efficiency and lower-cost alternative to traditional tandem-based systems. The individual cells within a sub-module block are connected for approximate voltage matching, and a multi-input single-output (MISO) buck converter harvests and combines the energy while performing maximum power point tracking (MPPT) locally for each cell type. A miniaturized MISO dc–dc prototype converter operating at 10 MHz is developed in a 130 nm CMOS process. For 45–160-mW power levels, the prototype converter achieves >92% nominal and >95% peak efficiency in a small (4.8 mm2) form factor designed to fit within available space in a LAMB PV cell block. The results demonstrate the potential of the LAMB CPV architecture for enhanced solar energy capture.

  • A High-Power-Factor Dimmable LED Driver with Integrated Boost Converter and Half-Bridge-Topology Converter

    摘要: This paper proposes a dimmable light-emitting diode (LED) driver featuring a high power factor and zero-voltage switching on (ZVS). The circuit is obtained by integrating a boost converter and a dc-dc converter with half-bridge topology. The high power factor is achieved by operating the boost converter in discontinuous current mode (DCM). The LEDs are dimmed by the control scheme of asymmetrical pulse-width modulation (ASPWM). The developed circuit eliminates the inherited dc-o?set current of the transformer in a conventional asymmetrical half-bridge converter by introducing a balance capacitor. Both active switches can operate at ZVS by freewheeling the boost inductor current and the transformer magnetizing current to discharge the energy stored in their parasitic capacitance. The circuit operation is analyzed in detailed, and mathematical equations are derived. Finally, a 115-W prototype circuit for driving high brightness LEDs was built and tested. The experimental results verify the feasibility of the proposed LED driver with satisfactory performance. It can achieve a high power factor and ZVS operation.

  • 92.5% Average Power Efficiency Fully Integrated Floating Buck Quasi-Resonant LED Drivers Using GaN FETs

    摘要: LEDs are highly energy ef?cient and have substantially longer lifetimes compared to other existing lighting technologies. In order to facilitate the new generation of LED devices, approaches to improve power ef?ciency with increased integration level for lighting device should be analysed. This paper proposes a fully on-chip integrated LED driver design implemented using heterogeneous integration of gallium nitride (GaN) devices atop BCD circuits. The performance of the proposed design is then compared with the conventional fully on-board integration of power devices with the LED driver integrated circuit (IC). The experimental results con?rm that the fully on-chip integrated LED driver achieves a consistently higher power ef?ciency value compared with the fully on-board design within the input voltage range of 4.5–5.5 V. The maximal percentage improvement in the ef?ciency of the on-chip solution compared with the on-board solution is 18%.

  • Three-Legs Interleaved Boost Power Factor Corrector for High-Power LED Lighting Application

    摘要: In this article, a three-leg interleaved boost Power Factor Corrector (IBPFC) converter for energy-efficient LED lighting systems connected to the main grid was discussed. This IBPFC circuit presented features 60 kHz of commutation frequency and up to 3 kW of power rating. The controlled rectifier front-end boost PFC supplied a DC/DC converter to drive power LEDs suitable for street lighting or a lighting system for a stadium, etc. The IBPFC operated in continuous current mode (CCM). The ripple impact of the IBPFC converter was analyzed and a novel methodology of inductance design was presented. In the proposed design approach, the derivative calculation of the current ripple peak compared with the derivative of the input current was used to define a critical inductance value to ensure the CCM condition. Experimental validation was provided on a 3kW prototype.
