  • A Convoluted Structure for Miniaturized Dual-stopband Frequency Selective Surface

    摘要: A miniaturized dual-bandstop frequency selective surface (FSS) using convoluted structures is proposed in this letter. The working central frequencies of the proposed FSS are 2.66 GHz and 5GHz with -3dB bandwidths of 1.5 GHz and 1.2 GHz respectively. The side length of the unit cell is 6.88mm which is about 5.9% of the wavelength at the first working frequency. The equivalent circuit and current distributions are introduced to explain the FSS frequency performance. The effects of the geometrical parameters on the frequency response of the FSS are studied. The simulated results show that the ratio of the frequencies of the two working transmission zeros can be tuned over a wide range. A prototype of the proposed FSS is fabricated and measured. The simulation and measured results show that the working frequencies, the bandwidths of the passband and two stopbands of the the proposed FSS perform excellent stabilities under different polarizations and incidence angles. This FSS is a good candidate to isolate the wireless networks.

    摘要: In this paper, a kind of dual-band three-dimensional (3-D) frequency selective surfaces (FSSs) based on multiple square coaxial waveguides (SCWs) are proposed. Through a simple design, transmission poles are intrinsically produced by the square slot resonances in two SCW propagation paths, and another transmission pole is generated by a parallel-plate waveguide (PPW) propagation path. With the help of these three transmission poles, a closely-spaced dual-band 3-D FSS can be achieved with the band ratio 1.118. In order to further extend the application of the proposed structure, a modified design is then exhibited. One pair of short SCW resonant elements is created in each SCW propagation path. As a result, each SCW propagation path can provide two transmission poles for a flat passband by the odd- and even-mode coupling. Moreover, the transmission zeros are located at each sides of passbands, leading to both-sided sharp roll off. The unit cell size of the modified design is reduced remarkably. The E-field analysis of transmission zeros/poles is given to explain the operating principle of two proposed FSSs. The simulated results show that the proposed FSSs can achieve stable responses to variations of incident angle from 0° to 45° for both TE and TM polarizations.

  • Compact Wide-Stopband Dual-Band Balanced Filter Using an Electromagnetically Coupled SIR Pair With Controllable Transmission Zeros and Bandwidths

    摘要: This brief presents a dual-band balanced filter with wide stopband, controllable transmission zeros and bandwidths, and compact size based on a newly designed electromagnetically coupled stepped impedance resonator (SIR) pair. The proposed SIR contains three different impedance lines, which can lead to more degrees of design freedom for resonant frequency control. Two electrical length ratios of the SIR can be individually tuned to obtain two desired differential-mode (DM) resonant frequencies for dual-band design, while keeping the first spurious frequency far away for wide-stopband design. Moreover, an inherent common-mode (CM) suppression can also be obtained without adding extra structures due to the discriminating CM resonant frequencies. The mechanism of transmission zeros (TZs) generation is also investigated by means of phases and admittance analysis. It reveals that four TZs around the two operating bands can be flexibly controlled via adjusting the ratio of magnetic and electric coupling coefficients of the SIR pair as well as the coupling space of the feeding lines, which have greatly enhanced isolation. the passband selectivities and the band-to-band Subsequently, the graphs of coupling coefficients and external quality factors for the filter design are extracted, showing sufficient degrees of design freedom for bandwidth control. The proposed dual-band balanced filter is finally fabricated and measured at 1.75 GHz and 3.64 GHz, respectively. Measured results are in good agreement with the simulated ones. Compared with the state-of-the-art works, the proposed circuit performs a d with 40dB attenuation (where deeper and wider stopband of 4.5f1 d is the fundamental frequency), and more than 50-/45-dB in- f1 band CM suppressions with compact size (0.14λg × 0.27λg , where λg is the guided wavelength of the fundamental frequency).

    摘要: This paper proposes a novel planar dual-band coupled-line balun with impedance transformation and high isolation. Closed-form design equations are obtained based on the classical even-odd mode equivalent approach. For convenience of designing and synthesizing such a novel dual-band balun, the practical ranges of the frequency ratio, terminated impedances, and two free variables are provided under the conventional microstrip fabrication constraints. By adopting four coupled-line sections, six transmission-line stubs, and an isolation resistor, a microstrip prototype balun working at 1.0/2.6 GHz is designed, fabricated, and measured. There is a good agreement between the simulated and measured results. The wide bandwidths of 290 MHz from 0.83 to 1.12 GHz and 270 MHz from 2.44 to 2.71 GHz are obtained with the measured return losses (|S11|, |S22|, |S33|) and the isolation (|S23|) better than 10 dB, which effectively confirm the proposed theoretical predictions.

    摘要: A substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) slot antenna with dual wide beamwidths for future 5G applications is proposed. This design is made up of a differentially-driven feeding structure, a SIW cavity and an octagon patch etched with two orthogonal radiating slots. The radiating slots contribute on realizing the desired dual frequency bands in dual-polarized directions for 5G communications. The proposed antenna yields wide beamwidths that are larger than 100? in both E- and H-planes at both frequencies as well as a low pro?le of 0.12λc.

    摘要: A compact dual-band branch-line coupler for the application of mobile phones has been proposed using multilayer PCB technology. The coupler contains six miniaturization units and two extra transmission lines (TLs). The miniaturization unit is introduced to replace the λ/4 TL for size reducing. For further miniaturization, the overall structure of the coupler uses multi- layer technique. The proposed coupler has high isolation and flexible frequency ratio. A coupler operating at 2.4/3.5 GHz is designed for verification. The size of the BLC is about 0.025 λg 2, reduced by 92% compared with the conventional hybrid.

A conventional coupler loaded with quarter-wavelength open coupled lines is adopted to realize the dual bands. Each band has a high isolation due to the introduced transmission zeros. The center frequencies of the planar coupler can be adjusted over a wide frequency band. A planar dual-band couplers located at 0.75/1.32 GHz is designed and fabricated for verification.

  • High performance near infrared photodetector based on in-plane black phosphorus p-n homojunction

    摘要: Black phosphorus (BP) has been considered as an appealing candidate for broadband photodetection from the visible to the infrared part of the spectrum owing to its tunable direct band gap and high carrier mobility. However, compared with other typical materials, the photoresponsivity of BP devices is rather weak. In this work, a near infrared photodetector with high performance based on in-plane BP p-n homojunction was investigated. The strong built-in electric field of the p-n junction can be modulated through bias and gate voltage, where the photo generated electron-hole pairs can be effectively separated, thus, leads to the enhanced photocurrent and faster photoresponse. Compared with the pristine BP, the photoresponsivity of the BP p-n homojunction under 1550 nm displays a 50-fold increment. The response time of the in-plane BP p-n homojunction photodetector exhibits two orders of magnitude improvement than that of the pristine BP and other lateral homogeneous BP p-n junction. Fascinatingly, the BP p-n photodetector also displays visible-infrared dual-band detection with well separated spectral response, opening up a feasibility of the intelligent identification of infrared targets.

  • Dual-Band Frequency Selective Surface on Aperture-Coupled Patch Resonators with Different Polarization Rotation

    摘要: In this letter, a dual-band frequency selective surface (FSS) based on aperture-coupled patch resonators is proposed to achieve different angles of polarization rotation, that is, 90o and 0o. The dual-band response is achieved by periodically arranging two independent sub-elements consisting of back-to-back patch resonators with coupling apertures etched on the middle metallic layer. Herein, the first passband is realized by the crossed patch resonators with a pair of rectangular apertures etched beneath the edges of the crossed patches. It can produce 180o phase difference between the two orthogonal components of a linearly polarized (LP) incident wave oriented to the diagonal of the FSS elements, thus rotating the incident polarization to its orthogonal one in this first passband. The second passband is caused by the square patch resonators with crossed apertures etched beneath the center of the square patches, thereby maintaining the incident polarization unchanged in this second passband. The operation principle is then extensively analyzed and discussed. To validate the design concept, the proposed FSS is designed, fabricated, and measured. Good agreement between the measured and simulated results is achieved to reveal the attractive dual-band and dual-polarization features of the proposed FSS.
