Fabrication of arrangement-controlled and vertically grown ZnO nanorods by metal nanotransfer printing
摘要: Vertically aligned ZnO nanorods have been widely investigated for use in piezoelectric generators, photovoltaic devices, nanotemplates, photoelectrochemical applications, etc. In addition to vertical alignment, intentional arrangement of ZnO nanorods according to a careful design can enhance the device performance. In this work, we used metal nanotransfer printing to fabricate arrangement-controlled and vertically grown ZnO nanorods on both hard and flexible substrates. Highly vertical growth and periodical arrangement of the ZnO nanorods were confirmed by microscope images. Their crystallinity and photoluminescence characteristics were also investigated. Transmission spectra of the substrates show the enhancement of optical transmission after the nanorod growth. We believe that this fabrication technique lends itself to simple fabrication of arrangement-controlled and vertically grown one-dimensional nanostructures on both hard and flexible substrates for application in solar cells, water splitting, metamaterials, etc.

Interlayer Engineering of Flexible and Large-Area Red Organic-Light-Emitting Diodes Based on an N-Annulated Perylene Diimide Dimer
摘要: Flexible red OLEDs based on a quadruple-layer stack, in between electrodes, with 160 mm2 active area were fabricated in ambient air on PET via slot-die-coating. For the OLED structure PET/ITO/PEDOT:PSS/PVK/PFO:tPDI2N-EH/ZnO/Ag, the ink formulations and coating parameters for each layer were systematically evaluated and optimized. The air-stable red-light-emitting material tPDI2N-EH was successfully utilized as blended homogeneous film with PFO for the emitting layer. The use of an organic hole-transport layer (PVK) and inorganic electron injection layer (ZnO) significantly improved the brightness of the reference device from 4 to 303 cd/m2. Surface analysis using AFM measurements showed that the PVK interlayer reduced the surface roughness of the hole injection layer (PEDOT:PSS) from 0.45 to 0.17 nm, which improved the ability to form uniform emitting layers on top. In addition, the ZnO interlayer decreased surface roughness from 1.26 to 0.85 nm and reduced the turn-on voltage of the device from 5.0 to 2.8 V.

摘要: In this paper, the impulse response of a wide band flexible circular monopole antenna is presented. The antenna is fabricated on liquid crystalline polymer flexible substrate with a compact geometry that makes it suitable for wearable applications under different bending conditions. The antenna is fed by coplanar waveguide transmission line and has a compact total size of 40 × 22 mm2. The presented antenna has a good performance over the operating frequency range for straight and bent configurations. The design principals, simulation and experimental results are presented in this work.

Low-Voltage Operating Single-Wall Carbon Nanotube Thin-Film Transistors Using High Work Function Contacts on Flexible Substrates
摘要: There have been constant attempts as regards high-performance thin-film transistors (TFTs) by improving the charge injection between the source/drain electrode (S/D) and the channel. In this paper, we investigate the effect of the electric contact on the device performance of single-wall carbon nanotube (SWCNT) TFTs employing the suitable work function material. In order to realize the electric contacts for the dominant hole injection between the S/D and the SWCNT active channel, a high work function material of molybdenum trioxide (MoOx) fabricated by an optimized process are utilized. The contact resistance is extracted by plotting the width-normalized resistance of SWCNT-TFT with Pd and MoOx contacts as a function of channel length. We also demonstrate low-voltage operating SWCNT TFTs on flexible polyimide substrates with the reduced electric contacts. Without a buffer film which has been widely used to improve the device performance of TFT on a flexible substrate, high-performance low-voltage operating SWCNT-TFTs were achieved.

8.1: <i>Invited Paper:</i> Enhanced Elevated-Metal Metal-Oxide Thin-Film Transistor Technology
摘要: Enhancement to the elevated-metal metal-oxide (EMMO) thin-film transistor (TFT) architecture employing annealing-induced source/drain regions is presently reported, thus further extending the advantage of EMMO over the conventional TFT architectures. The enhancement includes: a 3-mask process resulting in a reduced mask-count, hence manufacturing cost; a bottom-gate self-aligned process resulting in reduced parasitic overlap capacitance, hence signal delay; and a 300-oC process, with the lower temperature offering better compatibility with a wider range of flexible substrates.

摘要: A study of using a ?exible substrate to create a 3 Dimension (3D) structure by applying a simple origami folding technique is presented. An array of Vivaldi antennas is designed so it can be folded to create different radiation pattern and directivity. By changing the geometry of a piece of ?exible substrate, it was able to change from 2 Dimension (2D) planar antenna to a 3D structure with different radiation pattern. Measured results are shown to be in good agreement with simulated results, demonstrating an 8.27 dBi gain with circular polarisation. The design may ?nd applications in space communications and military applications where the structure can be stored in a small volume and then unfolded when required.

Design and Validation of Flexible Multilayer Frequency Selective Surface with Transmission Zeros
摘要: The design, analysis and validation of a flexible multilayer frequency selective surface (MFSS) with two transmission zeros at the upper side of the passband is presented. The multilayer FSS unit cell is composed of two metallic quasi-Jerusalem-cross patterns on the top and the bottom layers, a metallic slot coupling aperture on the middle layer, and two flexible polyimide-teflon supported substrates. The equivalent circuit is derived to explain the principle of transmission poles and zeros. This MFSS exhibits good resonance stability for different polarization and incident angles. A prototype flexible MFSS centered at 21.6 GHz is fabricated and measured, which shows an insertion loss of 1.3 dB and a fractional bandwidth of 15.7%. The stable performances of the MFSS at oblique incidences and under different bent conditions for TE and TM polarization are demonstrated as well.
