    摘要: The Sun gives us PW’s free of charge renewable energy, which can be converted into electricity by photovoltaic panels or into heat by sun collectors. Algorithm and hardware block diagram of single axis solar tracker are made in this paper. Also a comparison is made between a single axis solar tracking photo voltaic system and a fixed one. One axis solar tracking system gets average up to 30% more solar energy in comparison with the static one.

  • Grid-Assisted Rooftop Solar PV System: A Step toward Green Medina, KSA

    摘要: The increasing demands of fossil fuels and its depleting resources are a major concern all over the world. In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), the electrical energy is produced mainly by petroleum products. This is not only increasing the carbon footprint and pollution levels, but also depleting the natural resources faster. Therefore, there is a need for the use of renewable energy sources. Considering the high levels of solar radiation, solar-powered systems are potentially the best suited for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The techno-economics of a grid-assisted solar powered water pumping systems is presented for two different cases using HOMER software. This paper presents two case studies for the city of Medina KSA for rooftop solar PV panels. For the purpose of reduction of load on the electrical grid, a grid-assisted solar PV system is proposed in the paper. By using this system, a considerable amount of pollution mitigation is also achieved for the city of Medina.

    摘要: Geothermal exploration requires thermal images for obtaining the temperature on ground surface for characterizing surface geology and modeling the temperature at the depth. The purpose of this study is to integrate a thermal sensor with a wind-resistant UAV for detecting geothermal anomalies suitable for conducting exploration in a mountainous terrain. The specifications of the UAS-TIR, the experiment at XiaoYoukeng, and the results are presented. It is proved that such a system can be effectively applied in assisting quantitative assessment of geothermal reserves when compared with airborne thermal systems.

  • Industrial Applications of Nanomaterials || Nanotechnology for biological photovoltaics; industrial applications of nanomaterials

    摘要: This chapter describes the importance and use of nanotechnology for BPVs. Biological photovoltaics are solar energy conversion systems which are producing electricity based on the photosynthesis reaction takes place in thylakoid membrane. The process of collecting energy from BPV has been studied by the researchers to obtain highly efficient systems. For this reason, number of reports based on the BPVs, which focuses on direct and indirect electricity generation using soluble conductive mediators, has been published. Successful results reveal that these systems can convert sunlight into electricity, but there are some points to increase efficiency. The application of nanomaterials combined with BPV has shown tremendous improvement on the power output of BPV systems. Creating functional surfaces that “wiring” more biological components into the electrode was one of the first steps in nanotechnological advances to BPV systems. Large surface area according to the volume ratio makes anode and cathode electrodes more efficient in applications which is the another main improvement. The potential role of nanomaterials such as carbon nanotube and graphene has been studied with BPV for small and large-scale applications, highlighting the importance and application of green energy production. The electron transport mechanism in cyanobacteria and algae is well known, and the transformation of the newly designed systems into the photovoltaic device by means of nanomaterials with the aid of nanomaterials in the conversion of light into energy has also been shown. The results show that nanotechnology improves the energy conversion rate of BPV systems. It is foreseen that energy exchange rates will increase further with nanomaterial applications and the studies will continue toward industrial applications.

    摘要: Scarce energy sources in today's world are the cause of meeting energy needs in everyday life through renewable energy sources. Concerns about climate change, rising oil prices and increased government subsidies lead to enlarged investments in renewable energy sources. Today, research focuses on optimizing and improving efficiency of these sources. Renewable energy is derived from natural processes that are constantly renewed. In most of its forms it is delivered directly from the sun or from the heat accumulated in the earth. The purpose of this publication is to present a realistic approach to enhancing efficiency in cases where green energy is extracted from sun through photovoltaic panels. This would lead to a higher power supply for artificial lighting. There are significant energy losses when installing a solar panel on a static structure in the morning and late afternoon due to the fact that the panel is not sun-oriented in east-west direction (daily sun motion). There are losses also when the solar panel is not perpendicular to sun rays (in north-south direction). This publication presents the influence of the sunlight angle falling on photovoltaics and its optimization.

    摘要: Pakistan is well known developing country in the world with a population of around 200 Million [1] with annual growth of 2.61 % [1] in 2017 and the energy demand gap of electrical power generation is 4500 to 5500 MWH [2] due to which a lot of load shedding occurs to cover the shortfall of energy crisis. This trend of energy crisis should be overcome and reduce by promoting solar system which can be drive independently with the help of generator sets by PV diesel hybrid solution. Environmental to non- protection concerns are gradually conventional generation of power in the whole world. Renewable energy sources (RES) with advanced technology plays a vital role in that sustainable increasing energy demand and burning of natural resources such as fossils fuels, coal etc. in the context of such environmental issue [3]. The renewable energy sources such as solar PV system is eco-friendly and less maintenance electrical power generation technique which can be synchronize with generator set to minimize the consumption of gas or diesel in the generator or shutdown the one generator in peak hours of solar system to reduce the cost of fuels of generator such as gas, diesel and other resources and decrease the foot prints of carbon dioxide from the environment. In this research paper the 200 kWp PV diesel hybrid solar system in Dream world resort Karachi Pakistan has been analyzed. This paper provides the working principal of PV diesel hybrid system and the energy generation from simulation report and the online portal that is realistic energy generation at site and the reduction of carbon dioxide foot prints from the environment in comparison of different energy generation resources.
