  • Intrastromal crosslinking in post-LASIK ectasia

    摘要: We describe a case of early post-LASIK ectasia detected in the first 6 months after surgery. The patient was treated by means of intrastromal corneal crosslinking under the flap, without de-epithelialization, which resulted in a positive outcome. At the time of writing, 2 years after the procedure, the patient remained free of progression.

  • Two-color fluorescent in situ hybridization using chromogenic substrates in zebrafish

    摘要: Two-color fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) is a widely used technique for comparing relative gene expression patterns. Current two-color FISH protocols are not ideal for detecting weakly expressed transcripts or monitoring signal strength and background levels during the course of the reaction. Here we describe an improved FISH protocol using the conventional highly sensitive chromogenic substrates nitro blue tetrazolium (NBT)/5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl phosphate (BCIP) and Vector Red in zebrafish embryos. This protocol substantially improves on existing FISH techniques by combining the advantages of long reactivity of alkaline phosphatase, chromogenic monitoring of both developing reactions, and the ability to perform subsequent high-resolution fluorescent imaging. Although tested in zebrafish, a similar approach is expected to be applicable to ISH in any model organism.

  • In Situ Tissue Imaging and Monitoring Technique using WGM Probes

    摘要: Micro and Nano devices have been used as the interesting tools for many research and applications [1-3], where there are many available techniques today. From which Yupapin and his colleagues used the technique known as whispering gallery mode (WGM) of light within a tiny system that has shown the promising advanced in many applications in either theoretical and practical applications [4-7], eMicro-conjugate mirror has been the interesting device for 3D imaging construction, where it was given in reference. The 3D image can be constructed and obtained on a tip of the light cone (WGM) outputs as shown in Figure 1, where the interesting aspect is that the reflect output of the opposite object is formed by the conjugate mirror construction, where the 3D output is obtained and confirmed by the four wave mixing concept, which is the nonlinear effect obtained by using the micro-conjugate mirror. The dual property probes are based on 3D aiming structure, where the particle/light probes can be used, which are (1) tunneling probe and (2) WGM probe, from which the in situ monitoring can be applied. The tunneling particle collection is centered by the WGMs, where the WGM probes are penetrated into the different depths, where the depth resolution can be classified by the probe sizes in either WGM or electron. One of them has shown the use of WGM light beam to form a probe for 3D imaging applications, in which the important function of this device is the real time 3D imaging, which can be used to form the required in situ operation. Recently, the use of such a device for in situ imaging has shown the very interesting work [5]. In this commentary, the use of WGM probes for multi layers imaging is designed and described for in situ imaging usage, which is targeted to be the tiny device that can be used as the portable equipment. In Figure 1, the WGM probe is generated and formed by using the nonlinear micro ring resonator, which is the known as a Panda ring resonator. Light from a commercial semiconductor laser (or an embedded laser) is input into the input port, where the WGM probe can be generated by the suitable controlled parameters.

    摘要: This study presents the potential of GNSS Reflectometry (GNSS-R) for the monitoring of water levels in the Mekong river delta (Vietnam). A geodetic GNSS station was installed at the Tran De port, Soc Trang province, over 23-30 August 2016. The method used to retrieve water levels from GNSS-R data is based on the Interference Pattern Technic of the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR). To validate our measurements, we used different radar altimetry data from Jason-2, SARAL, Jason-3 and Sentinel-3A missions during the same period for measuring sea surface height (SSH) and in-situ tide gauge station as reference for both tides and floods. The aim of this study is to evaluate the performances GNSS-R, in complex environment, for monitoring at the same time river/tide stages and the possibility to use this technique for calibration/validation of altimetry data. Early results show the good agreement between in-situ gauge and GNSS-R based estimates with correlations which reach ~ 0.85.

  • In-situ assessment of strain behaviour inside tunnel linings using distributed fibre optic sensors

    摘要: In modern tunnelling, deformation monitoring is an important component to ensure a safe construction. It is state of the art to measure displacements at the inner side of the tunnel lining using total stations. In addition, pointwise geotechnical sensors, e.g. electric strain gauges, may be installed in geological fault zones, which, however, do not deliver a complete picture of the internal deformations. The Institute of Engineering Geodesy and Measurement Systems (Graz University of Technology) supported by the Austrian Federal Railways (?BB-Infrastruktur AG, SAE Fachbereich Bautechnik/Tunnelbau) developed a fibre optic sensing system, which realizes thousands of measurement points inside the tunnel lining. The distributed measurements can be used to assess the in-situ strain behaviour as well as to localize failures (e.g. cracks) in the lining. This paper reports about the calibration of the fibre optic system under well-known laboratory conditions and the practical utilization of the system in mechanized and conventional tunnelling. The results demonstrate the high potential of distributed fibre optic systems and their capability especially in the operational phase to extend classical measurement methods in tunnelling projects.

  • Systematic Optimation of Promoters in Trace SnS2 Coating SnO2 Nano-Heterostructure for High Performance Cr(VI) Photoreduction

    摘要: Constructing heterojunction semiconductor materials with a strong interfacial interaction are emerging as a forefront material with excellent photocatalytic performance. Herein, we report a novel SnS2/SnO2 heterojunction material via in-situ trace vulcanization strategy to coating SnS2 on the SnO2. The thickness of the coating layer can be regulated by controlling the content of SnS2. Moreover, The molar ratio of S to Sn, particle size of SnO2 precursor and vulcanization time associated with the SnS2 content of heterojunction catalyst were controlled to optimize photocatalytic performance. SnS2/SnO2 heterojunction catalyst with 19.5% SnS2 content delivered a ultrahigh visible-light activity in Cr(VI) degradation, remarkably superior to the inert SnO2 precursors and full-vulcanized SnS2 under identical testing conditions. Amazingly, the enhanced interfacial interaction can remarkably enhance the separation and transfer of photogenerated charges. The systematic methodology of interface regulation in SnS2/SnO2 system is first reported in this work, which would promote the understanding of nano-heterojunction material for high-performance water treatment application.

  • Fast dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction based on magnetic retrieval of in situ formed an ionic liquid for the preconcentration and determination of benzophenone-type UV filters from environmental water samples

    摘要: This work concerns the development of a novel and rapid in situ dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction method for magnetic retrieval of ionic liquid as a new approach for the separation of benzophenone type (BP-type) UV filters via quantification using UPLC with PDA detection. The analytes determined in this study were a group of three benzophenones: 2,4-dihydroxybenzophenone (BP1), 2,2′,4,4′-tetrahydroxybenzophenone (BP2) and 2-hydroxy-4-metoxybenzophenone (BP3). The hydrophilic ionic liquid found suitable for use as an extraction solvent of the targeted analytes was didecyldimethylammonium chlorate (DDAC). An anion exchanger, NaClO4 was added to promote a metathesis reaction and in situ formed the IL, [DDA][ClO4]. The experimental parameters such as the concentration of IL, the molar ratio of DDAC to NaClO4, amount of iron oxide added and volume of water sample were investigated and optimised using a step-by-step optimisation process. The optimum experimental parameters were as follows: 30 mL of sample volume, 1% concentration of DDAC, the molar ratio of DDAC to NaClO4—1:2, and 5 mg of Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles. The proposed extraction method is simple and requires no more than 5 min. The detection limit (LOD) obtained for target analytes ranged from 12.320.0 ng L?1, while the correlation coefficient (r2) was from 0.9995 to 0.9999. Finally, the developed method was successfully applied to the determination of BP-type UV filters in environmental water samples, and satisfactory results were obtained.

  • Eu2+/Eu3+-based Smart Duplicato-responsive of Stimuli and Time-gates Nanohybrid for Optical Recording and Encryption

    摘要: With the rapid development of information science, it is urgent that memory devices possessing high security, density, and desirable storage ability should be developed. In this work, a smart duplicato-responsive of stimuli and time-gates nanohybrid based on variable valence Eu2+/Eu3+ co-encapsulated has been fabricated and act as active material in the multi-level and multi-dimensional memory devices. The luminescence lifetime of Eu3+ in this nanohybrid performed a stimuli-response due to the energy level of the coordinated ligand could be modulated. Furthermore, by simply sintered procedure, Eu3+ was partially in situ reduced to Eu2+ with short lifetime in the system. And the in situ reduction ensured both of Eu3+ and Eu2+ ions uniform distribution in the nanohybrid and simultaneous response upon light excitation of variable valence Eu ions. Interestingly, Eu3+ revealed the prolonged lifetime because of the presence of energy transfer effect of Eu2+→Eu3+. Such a nanohybrid had the abundant luminescent properties including the short lifetime of Eu2+, the energy transferring from the Eu2+ to Eu3+ ions, and the stimuli-response of the Eu3+ lifetimes when exposed to acidic or basic vapor, thus giving birth to interesting recording and encryption performance in spatial-temporal dimensions. We believe that this research will point out a new direction for the future development of multi-level and multi-dimensional optical recording and encryption materials.

  • Study of <i>In-Situ</i> Hydrogen Plasma Treatment on InGaZnO with Atmospheric Pressure-Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition

    摘要: In the past few years, thin film transistors have a wide range of applications on display technology, material selection and quality for its active layer is critical for device performance. Traditional amorphous silicon (a-Si) silicon has a lot of advantages such as good productivity, short process and low-cost. It also has a lot of shortcomings on these applications on TFTs such as photosensitivity, light degradation, and opacity, etc. The dispute of the material based on a-Si:H as an active layer in TFT is low field effect mobility (~1 cm2/V · S) (M. Shur and M. Hack, J. Appl. Phys. 55, 3831 (1984)), photo sensitivity (low band gap about 1.7 V) and high deposition temperature (~400 °C) (M. Shur, et al., J. Appl. Phys. 66, 3371 (1989); K. Khakzar and E. H. Lueder, IEEE Trans. Electron Devices 39, 1438 (1992)). Amorphous In–Ga–Zn–O (IGZO) had attracted attention that compared with the conventional a-Si:H, due to its good properties of simultaneously high/low conductivity with high visual transparency via doping level. Oxide-based semiconductors, such as ZnO (G. Adamopoulos, et al., Appl. Phys. Lett. 95, 133507-3 (2009); H.-C. Cheng, et al., Appl. Phys. Lett. 90, 012113-3 (2007)) and IGZO (C. J. Chiu, et al., Electron Device Letters, IEEE 31, 1245 (2010); L. Linfeng and P. Junbiao, IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices 58, 1452 (2011)) have been reported for the active channel layer. These oxide-based materials offer good electrical properties and high transparency for thin film transistors, its high transmittance can be applied to fabricate the full transparent TFT on flexible substrate. With In-situ hydrogen plasma treatment on a-IGZO produced by atmospheric pressure-plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (AP-PECVD), the material characteristics of a-IGZO is studied.

  • Preparation of carbon dots decorated graphene/polyaniline composites by supramolecular in-situ self-assembly for high-performance supercapacitors

    摘要: Supramolecular in-situ self-assembly is achieved to prepare carbon nanodots decorated graphene/polyaniline composites by adding β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) as the bonding agent in this work. With its unique structure, β-CD can form a supramolecular system with graphene oxide layers, generating the inclusion compound with aniline monomers, which makes the in-situ polymerization of polyaniline on the surface of graphene oxide. In the hydrothermal process, β-CD is carbonized to carbon nanodots anchored on the surface of reduced graphene oxide. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images show that the prepared reduced graphene oxide/carbon nanodots/polyaniline (RGO@CN/PANI) nanocomposites exhibit the micro morphology of a regular polyaniline particle array on the surface of graphene layers. The electrochemical tests demonstrate that the RGO@CN/PANI nanocomposites exhibit high specific capacitance (up to 871.8 F g-1 at 0.2A g-1), low charge transfer resistance (Rct), and presentable cycling performance (72% capacitance retention after 10000 cycles), indicating the satisfied performance for supercapacitors. The promising performance of RGO@CN/PANI can be attributed to the synergistic effect of RGO, carbon nanodots and PANI, as well as the regular microstructure in which the effective reaction area of polyaniline is increased and the rapid ion transport channel is provided.
