摘要: As medical devices have excellent resolutions and have become better connected to the Internet, doctors and patients are beginning to expect medical images to be available on mobile device for making a diagnosis or consultative viewing. However, the performance of querying and accessing medical images in anytime and anywhere using mobile device is still an issue. In this paper, we implement an medical image visualization system to efficiently query and access medical images by using smartphone, which has the following new features: 1) an on-demand data transmission method is implemented using DICOM web service, and only the required meta data and image region or series are transmitted to mobile device; 2) a high performance cache component is designed to cache the recently requested images, which takes up less storage and obtains higher performance; 3) a convenient way is introduced to quickly obtain a specific patient's studies by scanning a patient's barcode or quick response code. The performance and stability of our proposed method as well as the prototype system is evaluated with real DICOM data sets. The results show that our app obtains high performance and stability in both Wi-Fi and 4G mobile network, which is expected to be an effective tool for mobile telemedicine.

Development of Animation Projector System and Usefulness in Pediatric Head CT; 小児頭部 CT のためのアニメーション投影システムの考案;
摘要: The restlessness of young children often causes motion artifacts on CT images. We devised a new animation projector system (CT Theater) that enables a child to view an animation during a pediatric head CT examination. The purpose of this study is to assess the usefulness on a children of a video viewed during a head CT scan. Children of 3–10 years old who underwent head CT (SOMATOM Definition Flash, SOMATOM Force; Siemens) were analyzed for a period from 6 months before, to 6 months after, introduction of the projector system (before: n=46, after: n=29). Mobile projector (MP-CL1; Sony) connected with tablet device (iPad; Apple) was put on the CT table near the child’s head. An animation was projected onto the child’s line of sight inside the gantry. The animation is projected onto the line of sight of the child such that the projector moves with the child on the table. The number of requests for use made by children was 28/29 (96.6%). The presence of images without motion artifacts decreased significantly after introduction (before/after introduction: 84.8% vs 100%, p=0.03). The overall examination success rate tended to increase after introduction (84.8% vs 92.9%, p=0.26). The overall examination time was significantly reduced (92.4±42.4 s vs 65.1±47.3 s, p<0.001). We developed an animation projector system that shortened examination time and decreased motion artifacts in pediatric head CT.

Computer-Assisted Diagnosis for Diabetic Retinopathy Based on Fundus Images Using Deep Convolutional Neural Network
摘要: Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a complication of long-standing diabetes, which is hard to detect in its early stage because it only shows a few symptoms. Nowadays, the diagnosis of DR usually requires taking digital fundus images, as well as images using optical coherence tomography (OCT). Since OCT equipment is very expensive, it will benefit both the patients and the ophthalmologists if an accurate diagnosis can be made, based solely on reading digital fundus images. In the paper, we present a novel algorithm based on deep convolutional neural network (DCNN). Unlike the traditional DCNN approach, we replace the commonly used max-pooling layers with fractional max-pooling. Two of these DCNNs with a different number of layers are trained to derive more discriminative features for classification. After combining features from metadata of the image and DCNNs, we train a support vector machine (SVM) classifier to learn the underlying boundary of distributions of each class. For the experiments, we used the publicly available DR detection database provided by Kaggle. We used 34,124 training images and 1,000 validation images to build our model and tested with 53,572 testing images. The proposed DR classifier classifies the stages of DR into five categories, labeled with an integer ranging between zero and four. The experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve a recognition rate up to 86.17%, which is higher than previously reported in the literature. In addition to designing a machine learning algorithm, we also develop an app called 'Deep Retina.' Equipped with a handheld ophthalmoscope, the average person can take fundus images by themselves and obtain an immediate result, calculated by our algorithm. It is beneficial for home care, remote medical care, and self-examination.

A smartphone-based system for fluorescence polarization assays
摘要: This paper demonstrates the use of a smartphone-based sensor for fluorescence polarization (FP) analysis of biomolecules. The FP detection can rapidly sense ligand-analyte bindings by measuring molecule mobility, and thus, FP-based assays have been widely used for rapid diagnostics in clinics. Here, we implemented the FP detection apparatus using a 3D-printed compact holder and the built-in camera of a smartphone. The system offers accurate measurements of the degree of polarization by simultaneously detecting the fluorescence intensities parallel and perpendicular to the polarization of the excitation. The fluorescence signal of the sample is excited by a laser or light-emitting diode and separated by a polarization beam cube depending on the polarization. Parallel and perpendicular polarized emissions are projected onto two different regions of the sensor chip in the smartphone camera. A custom software app was developed to count the average intensity in the areas of interest and compute the degree of polarization. We validated the system by measuring the polarization of dye molecules dissolved in solutions with different viscosities. As an example of biomolecule sensing, a competitive FP immunoassay of Prostaglandin E2 was demonstrated using the developed system and exhibited the limit of detection of 1.57 ng/mL. The smartphone-based FP assay platform can also be implemented for the detection of toxins, disease biomarkers, and pathogens in resource-limited settings.

Broadband simultaneously RHCP-LHCP radiating microstrip fed rectangular slot antenna for polarization diversity applications
摘要: In this article, for the first time, an antenna that can radiate LHCP and RHCP waves simultaneously is presented. The antenna enables simultaneous transmission of both right-handed (RH) and left-handed (LH) circular polarized (CP) waves separately over an elevation range from -45 to 45 degrees from the zenith. The simultaneous radiation of dual sense CP in the different spatial directions enables the antenna to act as polarization diversity transmitter. The mechanism of virtual sequential rotation of magnetic currents inside the different parts of the slot, excited with uniform phase fields results in dual CP generation. The uniform phase orthogonal fields are generated in the different parts of the slot essentially by exciting the full wavelength rectangular slot loaded with grounded stubs, symmetrically, with a shorted microstrip line. The final design of the slot antenna arrived with a rigorous parametric study on different dimensional parameters of slot and grounded stub. The measured impedance bandwidth of 22.5% centered around 7 GHz and axial ratio bandwidth of 19% is achieved. An overlapping bandwidth of 17% is achieved where both matching and AR are very good. The measured isolation between the RHCP and LHCP in the above-mentioned elevation ranges is maintained above 10 dB. The simulated and experimental results are matching very well.

Estimation of winter time NOx emissions in Hefei, a typical inland city of China, using mobile MAX-DOAS observations
摘要: In this paper, we present a quantitative determination of the NOx emission in Hefei using mobile Multi-Axis Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy (MAX-DOAS) measurements. The measurements were carried out during winter time from December 2016 to February 2017. The measured NO2 vertical column densities (VCDs) show a strong spatial gradient with higher values within the city center, indicating the majority of NOx emission sources are located at the city center. A significant 'holiday effect' was found by comparing measurements taken during weekdays and weekend. The weekend reduction is more significant in the suburban (~28%) compared to the city center (~13%). Mobile measurements of NO2 vertical column densities (VCDs) were analyzed together with meteorological data to determine the NOx emission by applying the loop-integral method. Detailed error analysis of the NOx emission shows the variation of wind field and large measurement gap dominated the total error of NOx emission calculation. The result shows the NOx emission in Hefei during winter time varies in a wide range from 10 × 10^24 to 40 × 10^24 molec s^{-1} with an average of 18.44 × 10^24 molec s^{-1}. Our estimation is about 43% lower than the number reported in the previous emission inventory in 2012. The reduction of NOx emission reflects the successful implementation of emission control measures in recent years. Our result also shows about 73% of the total NOx in the city were transported from outside of the city during winter. The impacts of transported NOx are especially large when air masses originated from heavily polluted regions, i.e. North China Plain and Yangtze River Delta. The result presented provides a better understanding of the impacts of local emissions and transportation of pollutants on the local air quality of Hefei.

New approach to enhancing the performance of cloud-based vision system of mobile robots
摘要: Mobile robots require real-time performance, high computation power, and a shared computing environment. Although cloud computing offers computation power, it may adversely affect real-time performance owing to network lag. The main objective of this study is to allow a mobile robot vision system to reliably achieve real-time constraints using cloud computing. A human cloud mobile robot architecture is proposed as well as a data flow mechanism organized on both the mobile robot and the cloud server sides. Two algorithms are proposed: (i) A real-time image clustering algorithm, applied on the mobile robot side, and (ii) A modified growing neural gas algorithm, applied on the cloud server side. The experimental results demonstrate that there is a 25% to 45% enhancement in the total response time, depending on the communication bandwidth and image resolution. Moreover, better performance in terms of data size, path planning time, and accuracy is demonstrated over other state-of-the-art techniques.

摘要: Recent research advances in phased array antennas for mobile satellite communications in the State Key Laboratory of Millimeter Waves (SKLMMW) are reviewed, including the Ku-band multiple-panel phased array antenna with almost half sphere coverage, the Ka-band low cost linear phased array module for planar array applications, a single board dual polarized S-band phased array for China S-band mobile satellite communications. The development for fast phased array calibration and measurement is also introduced.

ObstacleWatch
摘要: Walking while using a smartphone is becoming a major pedestrian safety concern as people may unknowingly bump into various obstacles that could lead to severe injuries. In this paper, we propose ObstacleWatch, an acoustic-based obstacle collision detection system to improve the safety of pedestrians who are engaged in smartphone usage while walking. ObstacleWatch leverages the advanced audio hardware of the smartphone to sense the surrounding obstacles and infers fine-grained information about the frontal obstacle for collision detection. In particular, our system emits well-designed inaudible beep signals from the smartphone built-in speaker and listens to the reflections with the stereo recording of the smartphone. By analyzing the reflected signals received at two microphones, ObstacleWatch is able to extract fine-grained information of the frontal obstacle including the distance, angle and size for detecting the possible collisions and to alert users. Our experimental evaluation under two real-world environments with different types of phones and obstacles shows that ObstacleWatch achieves over 92% accuracy in predicting obstacle collisions with distance estimation errors at about 2 cm. Results also show that ObstacleWatch is robust to different sizes of objects and is compatible to different phone models with low energy consumption.

摘要: The publication represents the thesis that illumination is one of the important but often underestimated factors for the achievement of high quality signal security activities (SSA), especially in the part related to the efficient operation of the Mobile Security Patrol (MSP). Тhe speed of the MSP response, the possibilities of obtaining real information about the environment of the guarded object and the adequate counteraction of the intruders has been examined under the impact of the lightning. The risks of the process and the possibilities for its improvement at each step are examined and analyzed by applying a set of technical and organizational measures to ensure sufficient and reliable lightning. During the research is used simplified technology, that includes problems' visualization and the solutions are represented with a diagram and a table, which contributes to more clearly defined inconsistencies and corrective actions. The technology could be incorporated into the management systems of SSA as one of the means for improvement, according to the requirements of point 10 'Improvement', of management standards ISO 9001:2015, ISO 27001:2013, ISO 45001:2018 и ISO 18788:2015
