摘要: In this paper we present novel spectral modulation technique for high-speed hybrid telecommunication systems. This technique is based on frequency-shift keying of three wideband pulses with central frequency hopping in desired sub-terahertz frequency range. Mathematical and simulation models of optimal pulses based on hyperbolic secant square function shaped to get maximum of provided power are presented. For such modulation scheme we also developed symbol coding technique that provides bit rate incensement and gains into spectral efficiency and interception security of telecommunication system. Simulation results of spectral modulated signal propagation in radio-over-fiber links are presented and discussed. Finally we introduce preliminary results for system performance with expanded number of applied pulses and advanced symbol coding technique.

摘要: This paper presents theoretical and experimental study of unexpected distortions induced by the Rayleigh backscattering phenomenon in Radio-over-Fiber (RoF) links within the Square Kilometer Array (SKA) project. For this system, the radiofrequency (RF) signals coming from the sky and celestial sources are received by more than 130k antennas individually and then transmitted to the signal processing room through an analogue RoF link. The low frequency band considered (from 50MHz to 350MHz) and the relatively low levels of the power of such RF signals are identified as the cause of these distortion effects which can decrease drastically the receiver dynamic range. An analysis of the phenomenon is presented in this work, together with an efficient solution optimized for the considered applicative case.

摘要: Access transport network plays a vital role in actual mobile networks to support the need of high data rates, real time services and spectrum efficiency. The future 5G requires an access network with high performances especially in the mm-wave bands. In this work, we propose a radio-over-fiber architecture based on intensity modulation for the downlink and phase modulation for the uplink. This solution permits to cancel optical sources and reduces electrical consumption in the multiple base stations. We focus our study on the phase modulation and direct detection link by evaluation of the quality of the wireless transmitted signal.

摘要: In optical communication, which is an important part of the Radio over Fiber (RoF) systems, coherent optical OFDM (CO-OFDM) systems allow the use of amplitude and phase belong to the light at the same time for data transmission. However, the data transmission speed and distance of the CO-OFDM system are limited by optical channel impairment effects. One of the major disadvantages of CO-OFDM systems is its sensitivity to fiber nonlinearity effects. For this reason, in order to be used the new signal processing techniques efficiently in the receiver, the optical channel information must be estimated and the received signal must be equalized. In this work, different equalizer constructions are investigated and a frequency domain channel equalizer used in the novel DWT-based CO-OFDM system has been proposed. With the simulation studies made, the equalizers were compared and the results were given with different changes. From the obtained simulation results, it is seen that the proposed method provides about 5.5 OSNR gain for 1E-4 BER value.

Remote Optical Frequency Up-converter based on Optoelectronic Oscillator
摘要: A remote optical frequency up-converter utilizing an electro-absorption modulator based optoelectronic oscillator (EAM-OEO) for radio-over-fiber (RoF) application is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The proposed remote optical frequency up-converter has no data leakage from optical baseband signal and no phase noise degradation stemming from optical baseband data leakage because the optical baseband signal is optically isolated from the OEO feedback loop by an optical band pass filter. Compared with the conventional remote optical frequency up-converter based on an EAM-OEO, the proposed system shows improved phase noise characteristics and receiver sensitivity.

摘要: In order to meet the traffic density requirement and cope with the technical challenges of hot-spot scenarios exhibiting extreme user density in very confined geographical areas, the fifth generation (5G) networks must undergo radical technological and architectural innovations that support a broad solution portfolio. This solution mix includes spectrum expansion to the millimeter Wave (mmWave) band, massive Multiple-Input Multiple- Output antennas and network densification through remote radio head deployment. Since the current Common Public Radio Interface-based mobile fronthaul cannot cope with massive mmWave multi-Gbps traffic streams, it is imperative to introduce a novel converged 5G architecture, specifically designed to facilitate mmWave access to massive amounts of users. To this end, a Medium Transparent Medium Access Control (MT-MAC) protocol has been proposed, designed to operate over a converged mmWave analog Fiber-Wireless (FiWi) fronthaul. MT-MAC allows for fast and direct negotiation of wavelength, radio frequency and time resources between the base band unit and the mmWave users, while offering fast on-demand link formation. However, its performance has not yet been evaluated under 5G heavy-traffic scenarios, as the ones previously described. Hence, in this paper, we investigate the performance of an MT-MAC-enabled fronthaul and report on its suitability for mmWave hot-spot 5G access networks.

Millimetre Waves Over Free Space Optics System for 5G Application
摘要: With advancement in communication systems and ever increasing demand of bandwidth, research has been oriented towards 5G networks. For achieving high data rates, mm waves are employed using radio over fiber (RoF) technique. This work focus on employing mm waves in free space optics. Two independent channels are employed with each having 5 Gbps data rate and 60 GHz of radio signal. Output signal received is observed by analyzing using BER and eye diagrams.

摘要: Optical processing of radiofrequency signals is demonstrated in this communication using photoswitches made from nitrogen ion implanted InGaAs. The sampling device shows an ultrafast picosecond response time while activated by ultra-short optical pulses or modulated optical beam centered at the wavelength of 1.55 μm. The optoelectronic device is embedded in a microwave coplanar waveguide which has a high electrical bandwidth allowing to process signals in the 1-67 GHz band. We investigate the potentiality of this component to be used either in photonic assisted sampling for future analog-to-digital converters or in photonic assisted heterodyne detection of RF modulated carriers.

摘要: We propose a multi-core fiber (MCFs) based concept which simultaneously use to generate millimeter wave (mm-wave) signal; a radio over fiber link; and a power over fiber link. In the proposed system, some cores of MCFs are used to generate mm-wave signal using an optoelectronic oscillator (OEO) topology, few of the cores are used to transport data modulated mm-wave signal through radio-over-fiber (RoF) technology while others are used to transmit optical power for biasing the amplifier in the remote antenna unit with help of power over fiber (PoF) technology and photonic power converter in a small cell architecture of the future 5G technology.

Latency analysis on W-band hybrid fiber-wireless link using software defined radio in real time
摘要: This paper reports an experimental comparison and analysis of latency for different modulation techniques at different data rates in W-band Radio-over-Fiber (RoF) transmission links. In addition, a software defined radio called GNU-Radio is employed with Universal Software Radio Peripherals (USRP) to generate and retrieve the transmitted signals. Likewise, it is used to test the end to end latency in the W-band RoF link. Our main contribution is achieving a W-Band low-latency wireless fiber link which fits to the key performance indicators of 5G networks.
