摘要: We demonstrate a passively Q-Switched solid state pulse laser based on silver-plated Graphene as a saturable absorber (SA). The pulsed laser operating at 1064.1 nm was realized at the threshold of 2.2 W. The pulse repetition rate of the laser can be widely changed from 0.102 to 1.29 MHz, the maximum output power and the narrowest pulse width are 509.2 mW and 280 ns, respectively.

Passively Q-switched pulsed fiber laser with higher-order modes
摘要: We experimentally demonstrate a passively Q-switched fiber laser that generates higher-order modes pulse beam based on HfSe2 saturable absorber and spatial light modulator. Due to the large modulation depth of the HfSe2 film, a Q-switched pulse with wide repetition rate can be realized based on the saturable absorption effects. Further investigation shows various higher-order Laguerre-Gaussian modes can be achieved by launching the Q-switched fundamental mode pulse onto spatial light modulator. Our studies provide a simple way to obtain a stable Q-switched fiber laser with higher-order modes pulse beam.

Sb <sub/>2</sub> Te <sub/>3</sub> as the saturable absorber for the ~2.0 μm passively <i>Q</i> -switched solid state pulsed laser
摘要: We demonstrated a passively Q-switched Tm:YAP solid state pulsed laser based on an Sb2Te3 saturable absorber. This saturable absorber was prepared by a facile hydrothermal method. The maximum pulse energy was up to 5.366 mJ at the absorbed pump power of 6.6 W. The corresponding pulse width, output power and repetition rate were 533 ns, 542 mW and 101 kHz, respectively. The results indicated that the hydrothermally synthesized Sb2Te3 nanosheet was a promising saturable absorber for near-infrared pulsed lasers.

摘要: Since early 2014, black phosphorus (BP), a rising star among post-graphene, has been exploited to generate ultrashort pulses in fiber lasers. BP has a large direct bandgap range from 0.3 eV (bulk, corresponding to 4.13 μm) to 2 eV (monolayer, corresponding to 620 nm), which enables ultrashort pulse generation from near-infrared to visible waveband. In our progresses, an ultra-stable (more than 100 days) pulse fiber laser based on real BP-SA was demonstrated, which exhibited various interesting ultrafast phenomenon in 1 μm region. Our results extended the application of BP in the spatial and temporal domains.

Stable Single-Longitudinal-Mode Fiber Laser With Ultra-Narrow Linewidth Based on Convex-Shaped Fiber Ring and Sagnac Loop
摘要: In this investigation, a convex-shaped ?ber ring (CSFR)-based single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) erbium-doped ?ber laser (EDFL) is proposed and experimentally veri?ed. The CSFR, composed of only two optical couplers and forming a double-ring architecture, is employed to serve as a high quality mode ?lter to eliminate the dense longitudinal modes of the EDFL. The unpumped erbium-doped ?ber in the Sagnac loop is utilized to produce the ultra-narrowband auto-tracking ?lter effect as a saturable absorber to guarantee the SLM out. The experimental results show that the linewidth of the proposed EDFL is 840 Hz with a high optical signal to noise ratio of 63 dB. In addition, the stability of the EDFL with the maximum output power ?uctuation of 0.01 dB and the maximum central wavelength variation of 0.01 nm, in both the short-term and the long-term observations. Hence, we obtained a SLM EDFL with extremely high stability, ultra-narrow linewidth and high optical signal to noise ratio (OSNR).

Lead Sulfide Saturable Absorber Based Passively Mode-locked Tm-doped Fiber Laser
摘要: In this paper, a passively mode-locked Tm-doped fiber laser by employing lead sulfide (PbS) nanoparticles as the saturable absorber (SA) is successfully demonstrated in the 2 μm region for the first time, to the best of our knowledge. Measured by a home-made balanced twin-detector setup at 2 μm, the PbS SA was characterized by the modulation depth of 10.69%, the non-saturable loss of 74.27%, and the saturable peak intensity of 8.62 MW/cm2, respectively. The laser delivered stable conventional soliton with a pulse duration of 1.24 ps and a repetition rate of 21.93 MHz. The center wavelength and 3 dB bandwidth are 1957.37 nm and 3.43 nm, respectively. Additionally, the second-order harmonic soliton pulses with a repetition rate of 43.86 MHz were also observed by further increasing the pump power. Our work reveals that PbS material is a reliable SA applied for pulse generation in the 2 μm spectral region.

Holmium oxide thin film as a saturable absorber for generating Q-switched and mode-locked erbium-doped fiber lasers
摘要: We demonstrated a new type of transition metal oxide (TMO) material, Holmium oxide (Ho2O3) polymer ?lm SA for compact passively Q-switched and mode-locked erbium-doped ?ber laser (EDFL) generations. The ?lm SA has a thickness of ~40 μm and modulation depth of ~45%. It was fabricated by embedding Ho2O3 nanoparticles into PVA polymer solution. The Q-switched laser operated stably at a center wavelength of 1563 nm within a pump power range of 45–97 mW. The maximum Q-switching pulse repetition rate and the narrowest attainable pulse width were 115.8 kHz and 0.64 μs, respectively; while, the maximum pulse energy was obtained as 129.36 nJ. On the other hand, the mode-locked EDFL emerged stably within a pump power range of 62–180 mW at a center wavelength of 1565.4 nm. The repetition rate was 17.1 MHz, while the pulse width was 650 fs. Additionally, the maximum output power was measured as 9.01 mW; while, the corresponding maximum pulse energy was obtained as 0.524 nJ. This Ho2O3 ?lm SA o?ers simplicity and reliability in the design of compact and portable ?ber pulsed laser generators particularly in the 1.55-μm regime.

Wideband saturable absorption in Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for mode-locking Er- and Tm-doped fiber laser
摘要: We fabricate a Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) Saturable absorber (SA) based on a microfiber. Nonlinear optical absorption of the MOF SA is characterized systmatically. The modulation depth is measured to be 6.57 % and 14.25 % at 1.5 and 2 μm spectral ranges, respectively. We report ultrashort pulse generation in both Er- and Tm-doped fiber lasers by using a same microfiber-based MOF SA, operating 384 fs and 1.3 ps pulse duration at 1563 nm and 1882 nm, respectively. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on a MOF based fiber laser at near infrared spectral ranges. Our findings validate the applicability of MOF as a broadband SA for ultrafast photonic applications.

All-Fiber Erbium-doped Q-Switched Laser with Recycled Graphite Oxide
摘要: This work demonstrates a passively Q-Switched fiber laser employing graphite oxide as a saturable absorber, generating tunable microsecond pulses with kHz repetition rates, pulse energies of up to 15.54 nJ and the pulse-to-pulse timing jitter of 46.14 fs. The graphite oxide samples were obtained by recycling the graphite present in Li-ion batteries utilized in cell phone devices through a chemical separation and subsequent oxidation process. Sample characterization employing X-ray diffraction, solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance and Raman spectroscopy showed that the produced graphite oxide exhibited a homogeneously oxidized structure. These results indicate that applications in the physics of pulsed lasers can benefit from the recycling of lithium batteries, directing the process of discarding spent batteries.

Q-switched Thulium-doped fibre laser using Bismuth (III) Telluride-based saturable absorber
摘要: We demonstrate a passive Q-switched thulium-doped fibre laser (TDFL) pulse generation using bismuth (III) telluride (Bi2Te3) thin film as saturable absorber. The Bi2Te3 was fabricated by a simple processing technique; simply by embedding the Bi2Te3 into the polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) film. By sandwiching 1 mm x 1 mm Bi2Te3 thin film between two fibre ferrules in a TDFL ring cavity, a stable Q-switching pulses train was generated. The repetition rate and pulse width were tuneable from 10.72 kHz to 39.9 kHz and 13.08 μs to 5.98 μs, respectively, as the pump power increased from 309 mW to 454 mW. The slope efficiency was 4.51%, while, the maximum pulse energy was calculated as 0.17 μJ.
