Highly Reliable WLEDs With All-Inorganic Packaging Structure by Soldering Phosphor-in-Glass
摘要: Smart grids are electric networks that employ advanced monitoring, control, and communication technologies to deliver reliable and secure energy supply, enhance operation efficiency for generators and distributors, and provide flexible choices for prosumers. Smart grids are a combination of complex physical network systems and cyber systems that face many technological challenges. In this paper, we will first present an overview of these challenges in the context of cyber–physical systems. We will then outline potential contributions that cyber–physical systems can make to smart grids, as well as the challenges that smart grids present to cyber–physical systems. Finally, implications of current technological advances to smart grids are outlined.

Effects of mTOR inhibitors on neuropathic pain revealed by optical imaging of the insular cortex in rats
摘要: In the pain matrix, the insular cortex (IC) is mainly involved in discriminative sensory and motivative emotion. Abnormal signal transmission from injury site causes neuropathic pain, which generates enhanced synaptic plasticity. The mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) complex is the key regulator of protein synthesis; it is involved in the modulation of synaptic plasticity. To date, there has been no report on the changes in optical signals in the IC under neuropathic condition after treatment with mTOR inhibitors, such as Torin1 and XL388. Therefore, we aimed to determine the pain-relieving effect of mTOR inhibitors (Torin1 and XL388) and observe the changes in optical signals in the IC after treatment. Mechanical threshold was measured in adult male Sprague-Dawley rats after neuropathic surgery, and therapeutic effect of inhibitors was assessed on post-operative day 7 following the microinjection of Torin1 or XL388 into the IC. Optical signals were acquired to observe the neuronal activity of the IC in response to peripheral stimulation before and after treatment with mTOR inhibitors. Consequently, the inhibitors showed the most effective alleviation 4 h after microinjection into the IC. In optical imaging, peak amplitudes of optical signals and areas of activated regions were reduced after treatment with Torin1 and XL388. However, there were no significant optical signal changes in the IC before and after vehicle application. These findings suggested that Torin1 and XL388 are associated with the alleviation of neuronal activity that is excessively manifested in the IC, and is assumed to diminish synaptic plasticity.

An efficient visible-light-responsive surface charge transfer complex AA-TiO2 based dye-sensitized solar cell
摘要: This work investigated a new strategy for visible light responsive dye-sensitized solar cell: the ligand-to-metal charge transfer (LMCT) takes place between TiO2 nanoparticles and ascorbic acid (AA). The surface LMCT complex AA-TiO2 extended the spectral responsive range to 800 nm and exhibited prominent visible light activity, enhancing utilization of the solar spectrum. The optimal photovoltaic conversion efficiency of the visible-light-responsive AA-TiO2 based dye-sensitized solar cell reach value of 3.50%. The low-cost, non-toxic and environment friendly surface adsorbate AA will demonstrate a feasible approach for replacing the most common used ruthenium complex dyes, thereby offering a strategy for development of low-cost and high efficiency DSSCs.

摘要: Middle East region has a high capability of adopting Photovoltaics system due to the massive values of irradiation that this region has. Many new building projects being established in the region with roof spaces that can be utilized to install Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) system. However, due to the contemporary, sophisticated geometric design of the roofs in most of the building projects, the curvature of the rooftop creates a big insolation difference due to the partial shading of these rooftops. This paper illustrates the partial shading on the BIPV modules in one of Qatar’s most recent project (Qatar Rail stations) by collecting data from the regional weather station and simulated data by using Building Information Modeling (BIM) for insolation simulation. The modeling of the BIPV system was done in MATLAB/Simulink. Different system configuration layout scenarios for different BIPV insolation were examined to show the behavior of which I-V and P-V characteristics with the highest insolation BIPV array. it is concluded that the system is preferred to be separated in parallel connection to not limit its current components with the smallest insolation value among all BIPV arrays. The outcomes of the proposed algorithm are believed suggestive facilitating for development of BIPV systems—a new domain combined architecture and solar energy integration.

Toward efficient polymer solar cells with thick bulk heterojunction by introducing iridium complex as an aggregation reshaping auxiliary
摘要: The morphology control of thick bulk heterojunction (BHJ) polymer solar cells (PSCs) is an important factor to determine their power conversion efficiency (PCE). Particularly, during the building of phase separation, aggregation morphology plays a prominent role in the control of both horizonal and vertical gradient distribution of donor/acceptor (D/A) in thick BHJ. In this work, we introduced a novel iridium complex of (tfmppy)2Ir(tpip) into the active layer of PffBT4T-2OD: PC71BM as an “aggregation reshaping auxiliary” to form a long and narrow aggregation shape in both horizontal and vertical directions. Through characterizing the morphology of active layer in details, it was found that the combination of 5% (tfmppy)2Ir(tpip) assists PffBT4T-2OD aggregation shape with a 1: 2.5 aspect ratio while maintaining high crystallinity. In addition, the results showed that the (tfmppy)2Ir(tpip) facilitates efficient exciton dissociation and charge transport because of increased contacting area of D/A interface. As a result, the short circuit current (JSC) and fill factor (FF) performances were both improved contemporaneously, leading to a 20.3% enhancement in PCE.

A Randomized Controlled Trial Comparing Platelet-Rich Plasma, Low-Level Laser Therapy, and Complex Decongestive Physiotherapy in Patients with Lower Limb Lymphedema
摘要: Background: Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an autologous concentrated preparation of platelets characterized by lymphangiogenetic and tissue-repairing effects. Although PRP has been safely used in many different fields, there is no clinical study regarding the use of PRP in lymphedema treatment in humans. We assessed the clinical outcomes of PRP in patients with lower extremity lymphedema (LEL) in a randomized controlled trial. Methods and Results: Patients with secondary LEL were randomly allocated to one of three groups consisting of treatment with PRP with complex decongestive physiotherapy (PRP+CDP group), low-level laser therapy with CDP (LLLT+CDP group), and only CDP (CDP group). Assessment of Lymphedema Quality of-Life Questionnaire (LYMQOL) for health-related quality of life, lower-extremity-circumference (LEC) for edema, tissue dielectric constant (TDC) for extremity volume, 6-minute walking test (6MWT) for functional capacity, and numeric rating scale (NRS) scoring for extremity fullness were evaluated both before and after treatment. Forty-five patients (68.8% female) with mean age 40.84 – 15.81 years were included in the study. Significant differences in LYMQOL, LEC, NRS, and TDC values both before and after treatment were found in all groups; however, there were no statistically significant difference in values between the three groups. In the PRP+CDP group, LYMQOL values had a larger effect size than the other two groups. Significant differences in 6MWT values both before and after treatment were found in PRP+CDP and LLLT+CDP groups; however, there was no statistically significant difference in the CDP group. Conclusion: This is the first clinical study to evaluate the usage of PRP in patients with secondary LEL. PRP might be an additional treatment option of lymphedema management; however, more clinical trials in humans are needed to yield more evidence in the usage of PRP in patients with lymphedema.

The Quantum Efficiency Roll-Off Effect in Near-Infrared Organic Electroluminescent Devices with Iridium Complexes Emitters
摘要: The electroluminescence quantum e?ciency roll-o? in iridium(III)-based complexes, namely Ir(iqbt)2(dpm) and Ir(iqbt)3 (iqbt = 1 (benzo[b]thiophen-2-yl)-isoquinolinate, dpm = 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedionate) utilized as near-infrared emitters in organic light emitting diodes with remarkable external quantum e?ciencies, up to circa 3%, 1.5% and 1%, are measured and analyzed. With a 5–6 weight% of emitters embedded in a host matrix, the double-layer solution-processed structure as well as analogous three-layer one extended by a hole-conducting ?lm are investigated. The triplet-polaron, the Onsager electron-hole pair dissociation and the triplet-triplet annihilation approaches were used to reproduce the experimental data. The mutual annihilation of triplets in iridium emitters was identi?ed as prevailingly controlling the moderate roll-o?, with the interaction between those of iridium emitters and host matrixes found as being less probable. Following the ?tting procedure, the relevant rate constant was estimated to be (0.5 ? 12) × 10?12 cm3/s, values considered to be rather too high for disordered organic systems, which was assigned to the simplicity of the applied model. A coexistence of some other mechanisms is therefore inferred, ones, however, with a less signi?cant contribution to the overall emission quenching.

Complex Bianisotropy Effect on the Propagation Constant of a Shielded Multilayered Coplanar Waveguide Using Improved Full Generalized Exponential Matrix Technique
摘要: A theoretical study of the electromagnetic propagation in a complex medium suspended multilayer coplanar waveguide (CPW) is presented. The study is based on the generalized exponential matrix technique (GEMT) combined with Galerkin’s spectral method of moments applied to a CPW printed on a bianisotropic medium. The analytical formulation is based on a Full-GEMT, a method that avoids usual procedures of heavy and tedious mathematical expressions in the development of calculations and uses matrix-based mathematical expressions instead. These particularities are exploited to develop a mathematical model for the characterization of wave propagation in a three-layer shielded suspended CPW structure. This study is based on the development of mathematical formulations in full compact matrix-based expressions resulting in Green’s functions in a matrix form. The implemented method incorporates a new accelerating procedure developed in the GEMT which provides an initial value used to speed up searching for the exact solution in the principal computation code. This helped us to obtain accurate solutions with tolerable computing time. Good agreements have been achieved with the literature in terms of accuracy and rapid convergence. The results for di?erent cases of bianisotropy have been investigated, and particularly, the e?ect on the dispersion characteristics is presented and compared with the isotropic case.

Tailoring the photovoltaic effect in (1a??1a??1) oriented BiFeO <sub/>3</sub> /LaFeO <sub/>3</sub> superlattices
摘要: Ferroelectric and photovoltaic properties of (BiFeO3)(1?x)Λ/(LaFeO3)xΛ superlattices grown by pulsed laser deposition have been investigated (Λ being the bilayer thickness). For a high concentration of BiFeO3 a ferroelectric state is observed simultaneously with a switchable photovoltaic response. In contrast for certain concentration of LaFeO3 a non-switchable photovoltaic effect is evidenced. Such modulation of the PV response in the superlattices is attributed to the ferroelectric to paraelectric phase transition which is controlled with the increase of x. Remarkably, concomitant to this change of PV mechanism, a change of the conduction mechanism also seems to take place from a bulk-limited to an interface-limited transport as x increases.
