  • Archimedean Spiral Inspired Conductive Supramolecular Elastomer with Rapid Electrical and Mechanical Self-Healing Capability for Sensor Application

    摘要: In addition to flexibility and stretchability, self-healing capability will become another characteristic for next-generation electronics and devices. However, developing electronic materials with both good mechanical and electrical self-healing abilities still remains a great challenge yet an exciting goal. Herein, a new kind of self-healing conductive elastomer via alliance of supramolecular chemistry and Archimedean spiral-structure design is reported to break the trade-off between mechanical and electrical healing capabilities. The spirally structured conductive layout enables the material to rapidly self-heal both mechanical (within 15 s) and electrical (within 0.25 s) damages with high efficiency, while without sacrificing the softness and stretchability of the self-healing elastomer matrix. As a proof-of-concept, such materials can be used to fabricate self-healable wearable sensors for monitoring diverse human activities. The rapidly, efficiently, mechanically, and electrically self-healing materials demonstrated in this work facilitate the design and application of a wide range of stretchable and reliable electronic devices.

  • Magnetic Supramolecular Nanofibers of Gold Nanorods for Photothermal Therapy

    摘要: Molecular aggregation triggered by physical and chemical stimuli and based on multiple noncovalent interactions has immense potential utility for modeling and mimicking biological systems and for the diagnosis and treatment of degenerative diseases. Herein the preparation, properties, and biological activities of a new type of organic–inorganic hybrid supramolecular nanofiber composed of gold nanorods, mitochondrion-targeting-peptide-coated iron oxide nanoparticles, and hyaluronic-acid (HA)-modified β-cyclodextrin is reported. These photothermal nanofibers, which grew along the direction of the geomagnetic field, induced severe mitochondrial damage in human adenocarcinoma cells (A549); and, more strikingly, the nanofibers greatly suppress metastasis and clear A549 cells in tumor-bearing mice upon irradiation with a near-infrared laser. The ability to recruit HA-receptor-expressing tumor cells and to target mitochondria, as well as the high photothermal conversion efficiency imparted by the gold nanorods, makes these supramolecular nanofibers a promising nanotherapy for cancer in general and metastasis-related malignancy in particular.

  • Rapid Self-healing Film From Novel Photo Polymerization Additive.

    摘要: Self-healing materials have ability to repair damage by themselves. Their properties have been developed to increase the reliability of materials. Generally, self-healing polymers have been developed by thermal polymerization. Especially, hydrogel materials showed relatively rapid recovery and good-healing efficiency. However, it is very difficult to restore their properties without the self-healing mediator such as water. Herein, we report the novel type of self-healing polymer using photo-polymerization. This is achieved through an unprecedented concept of an additive of photopolymerization, named as ‘healer’ which can act as a physical crosslinker between main chains and a self-healing mediator in hydrogel materials. This transparent, easily fabricated self-healing polymer healed scratch in 40 seconds as well as restored the mechanical properties to 82%.

  • Hydrogen-bonded and supramolecular ferroelectricity in a new hybrid (C<sub>12</sub>H<sub>25</sub>NH<sub>3</sub>)<sub>2</sub>CoCl<sub>4</sub>

    摘要: A new organic-inorganic layered halide perovskite ((C12H25NH3)2CoCl4) has been synthesized and characterized by: chemical analysis, X-ray powder diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, and differential thermal analysis thermographs. The dielectric and ferroelectric properties have been investigated. Analysis of the ac conductivity σac (ω, T) measured in the temperature interval from 110K to 370K and at selected frequencies in the range 1 kHz< f<100 kHz and the results show that the Jonscher universal power law is accurately obeyed. The existence of ferroelectricity has been demonstrated by the hysteresis P-E loop. The collective data evidenced that the hybrid behaves as a proper ferroelectric rather than a relaxor one and undergoes an order-disorder ferroelectric phase transition at the Curie temperature Tc (Tc?360K) accompanied with a structural distortion from an intercalated to non- intercalated state as the other Co and/or Zn hybrids. Since the room temperature space group of the hybrid is centrosymmetric (P21/c), the ferroelectricity should be due to the supramolecular interaction which results from the induced dipoles. The hydrogen bonding system of the type N-H....Cl plays the key role in the mechanism of supramolecular ferroelectricity.

  • Photocurrent responsive supramolecular coordination networks with redox-active tetrathiafulvalene cores

    摘要: Redox-active tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) is key building block to construct multifunctional metal-organic complex materials. Herein three TTF-based supramolecular coordination networks, [Cu2(L)2(bpy)2]n (1) and M2(L)2(bpy)2(H2O)4 (M = Co2+ (2), Ni2+ (3)) (L = dimethylthio-tetrathiafulvalene-bisthiol-benzoate, bpy = 2,2’-bipyridine), were prepared by using solvothermal method and characterized by single-crystal X-ray analyses. Complex 1 displays a one-dimensional (1D) coordination polymer with chain structure, which further linked by S???S interactions to form a 3D supramolecular network. Complexes 2 and 3 are isostructures and show dinuclear metallic compound with two μ2-H2O bridges, which finally exhibit 3D supramolecular networks supported by both of hydrogen bonds and S???S interactions. The electrochemical properties of compound 1-3 were investigated by cyclic voltammetry using surface-modified electrodes, and the results revealed that 1-3 are photocurrent responsive materials and the metal coordination centers seem to have no obvious effect on the photocurrent response.

  • Cooperative Chirality and Sequential Energy Transfer in Supramolecular Light-harvesting Nanotube

    摘要: By constructing a supramolecular light-harvesting chiral nanotube in aqueous phase, we demonstrated the cooperative energy and chirality transfer that revealed some new aspects. It was found that a cyanostilbene-appended glutamate compound (CG) self-assembled into helical nanotubes exhibiting both supramolecular chirality and circularly polarized luminescence (CPL). When two achiral acceptors ThT and AO with different energy bands were co-assembled with the nanotube, the CG nanotube could transfer its chirality to both of the acceptors. The excitation energy could be transferred to ThT but only be sequentially transferred to AO. During such process, the CPL ascribed to the acceptor could be sequentially amplified. This work provides a new insight into the understanding the cooperative chirality and energy transfer in a chiral supramolecular system, which is more similar to the natural light-harvesting antennas.

  • Photoactive Functional Soft Materials (Preparation, Properties, and Applications) || Photochemical Chirality Induction and Inversion in Soft Materials

    摘要: Chirality or “handedness” is a prerequisite of the biological world, where life exists in a specific chirality. In living organisms, almost all the sugars are exclusively right‐handed (d‐isomer), amino acids are left‐handed (l‐isomer), and DNA coils assemble into right‐handed helices. The reason behind this homochirality is still an unresolved issue. Inspired by the natural homochirality, the scientific community has been interested in exploring the mechanism of transmission of chirality from the molecular level of monomeric units to the macro‐ or supramolecular level, as well as the origin of chirality. The supramolecular chirality in nature from self‐assembled achiral molecules and its specific handedness play a crucial role in the evolution of life and the development of supramolecular materials. While the chirality of molecules is of configurational and conformational origin, supramolecular level chirality arises from the organization of molecules, with formation of a chiral superstructure by means of long‐range positional and orientational orders of molecules.

  • Building from Ga-porphyrins: Synthesis of Ga-Acetylide complexes using acetylenes and polyynes

    摘要: Multidimensional, conjugated building blocks have been formed through the axial coordination of polyynes to the central Ga atom of tetraarylporphyrins. Electron deficient pentafluorophenyl substituents in the meso-positions provide more stable s-acetylide complexes to Ga than analogous structures with tert-butylphenyl groups. Mono-, di-, and triynes have been used, including a pyridyl endcapped diyne that allows for formation of porphyrin triads through coordination of the pyridyl ligand to a Ru porphyrin.

  • Dual sites fluorescence probe for hydrogen sulfide: AIEE activity and supramolecular assembly with β-cyclodextrin

    摘要: One aggregation-induced emission enhancement (AIEE) active compound based on α–cyanostilbenes and maleic anhydride group were synthesized. The “Turn-On” fluorescence recognition for H2S was evaluated both in aqueous solution and cells. It was found that cyanostilbenes group acts as the first reactive site and maleimide group acts as the second site to H2S. Supramolecular assembly with β-cyclodextrin successfully revealed the reaction mechanism of 3-state model.

  • Two Zn(II) coordination polymers based on 5-substituted isophthalic acid: syntheses, crystal structures, luminescence sensing properties

    摘要: Two new Zn(II) coordination polymers (CPs), {[Zn(L)(5-nip)]2·5.5H2O}n (1) and {[Zn(L)(5-mip)]·EtOH}n (2) [L = 1,3-bis(benzimidazol-1-yl)-2-propanol, 5-H2nip = 5-nitroisophthalic acid, 5-H2mip = 5-methyisophthalic acid] were solvothermally synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra, thermogravimetric analyses, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. CP 1 possesses a 1D ladder-like chain structure and further packed into 2D supramolecular architectures by π-π stacking interactions. CP 2 exhibits a 2D 63 layer, which is finally extended into 3D supramolecular network via the weak C–H···O hydrogen bond interactions. CP 1 and CP 2 can be used as luminescent sensors for Hg2+ and Cr2O7 2- ions in water.
