UWB radar cross section reduction in a compact antipodal Vivaldi antenna
摘要: This paper presents the design of a compact antipodal Vivaldi antenna (AVA) with reduced radar cross section (RCS) for directional UWB communications. The impedance characteristics of a conventional AVA are improved by introducing a BALUN taper in the ground plane and circular slots of different diameters in the wings of the AVA. The slots on the wings improve the RCS performance of the antenna by rejecting the orthogonal radiations from the AVA. Furthermore, drills of suitable diameter are introduced to further enhance the monostatic RCS performance. The proposed AVA offers 74% size reduction compared to the existing AVAs reported in literature with its bandwidth extending from 3 GHz to over 12 GHz. The prototype AVA is fabricated and the simulation results are veri?ed using experimental measurements. The prototype antenna offers at least 11 dB reduction in RCS throughout the operating bandwidth with a peak reduction of 16 dB at 7 GHz and 11 GHz.

摘要: A wideband phased array antenna consisted of all-metal Vivaldi is designed in this paper. It is a line array with 8 Vivaldi elements, at the ends of the array there are two additional elements added as the virtual elements to constitute the array environment. The antenna is comprised of the slot line structure and SMA connector, so that it is convenient to process, the size of the array is 150mm × 35mm. The simulated and measured results show that the VSWR (voltage standing wave ratio) of the array antenna in the 6 ~ 12 GHz band is less than 2.5, and the phase scanning of 45-degree angle can be realized in this band.

摘要: An ultra wideband Vivaldi antenna array based on tightly coupled effect is proposed. The elements are arranged overlap to get an additional capacitive capacity to achieve impedance matching at low frequency. A sample of a 4×4 Vivaldi array was simulated, fabricated, and tested. The measured farfield waveform is basically agreed with simulated one. The designed antenna gets a bandwidth of 0.4GHz-4.2GHz.

Ultrawideband Low-Profile and Miniaturized Spoof Plasmonic Vivaldi Antenna for Base Station
摘要: Stable radiation pattern, high gain, and miniaturization are necessary for the ultra-wideband antennas in the 2G/3G/4G/5G base station applications. Here, an ultrawideband and miniaturized spoof plasmonic antipodal Vivaldi antenna (AVA) is proposed, which is composed of the AVA and the loaded periodic grooves. The designed operating frequency band is from 1.8 GHz to 6 GHz, and the average gain is 7.24 dBi. Furthermore, the measured results show that the radiation patterns of the plasmonic AVA are stable. The measured results are in good agreement with the simulation results.

Design of 2 to 18?GHz balanced antipodal Vivaldi antennas using substrate-integrated lenses
摘要: Conventional balanced antipodal Vivaldi antennas (BAVAs) normally have deep ripple levels in E-plane mainlobe region and significant H-plane beamwidth variation over upper frequency band, which are drawbacks for ultra-wideband (UWB) applications. To overcome these issues, this paper introduces two types of lens configurations in front of BAVA. A gradient-index semi-cylindrical lens and a cylindrical lens are employed to improve ripples depth of E-plane mainlobe and broaden H-plane beamwidth, respectively. Both these lenses and BAVA are integrated on the same substrate and the desired refractive indexes of lenses are realized by a combination of a set of air-filled holes in the substrate. Prototypes of the modified BAVA with lenses (BAVA-Ls) are designed, fabricated, and experimentally investigated as well. Measured results show close agreement with simulation. The proposed BAVA-Ls exhibit promising performances such as smaller ripple levels in E-plane mainlobe, wider H-plane beamwidth, higher aperture efficiency, and excellent group delay, while maintaining good bandwidth characteristics over 2 to 18 GHz.

An antipodal Vivaldi antenna for improved far-field properties and polarization manipulation of broadband terahertz quantum cascade lasers
摘要: We present an antipodal Vivaldi antenna for broadband double metal waveguide terahertz quantum cascade lasers and frequency combs. Its exponentially curved flare profile results in an adiabatic in-plane mode expansion, producing an improved far-field with a single-lobed beam of (23° × 19°) full width half maximum with an octave-spanning bandwidth. The antenna also acts as a wave retarder, rotating the polarization from vertical toward horizontal polarization by a frequency-dependent angle. The laser’s emission spectrum and current–voltage characteristics are not affected, as well as frequency comb operation. Measurements agree well with numerical simulations, and the proposed antenna covers a broad spectral range (1.5–4.5 THz).

摘要: A miniaturized double-Vivaldi antenna (DVA) with high gain based on metasurface (MS) is proposed. A pair of defected ground slots (DGS) are added to the edges of the antenna to extend the low-end frequency limitation from 2.15 GHz to 1 GHz. Then, the gain of DVA is improved obviously in a wide frequency band by the inclusion of a MS in the aperture. The novel unit cell of the MS in our design is a two-stub-loaded split-ring resonator (TSLSRR), which has compact size, wide frequency band, and low-return loss. Finally, to verify the designed methods, DVA, DVA with DGS (DVA-DGS), DVA with DGS and MS (DVA-DGS-MS) ware successfully designed, and it show an overall size of 80 mm × 150 mm × 1 mm.

摘要: This article proposed a novel miniaturized design of coplanar wave guide (CPW) fed ultra wide band (UWB) imaging tapered applications. Broken line exponential tapered profile and different types of slots have been incorporated in order to obtain the better performance and miniaturized antenna. All important performance parameters of the proposed the antenna such as return loss, BW, gain, directivity, VSWR, axial ratio, front to back ratio, accepted power, radiated power, surface current, radiation efficiency have been analyzed and enhanced up to the acceptable level. Finally, from the simulated validation, it is noticed that the proposed antenna would be a potential candidate for microwave imaging applications.

摘要: Double metal waveguide based terahertz quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) have excellent properties in terms of compactness, large bandwidth and low waveguide dispersion. However, as they confine the optical mode to subwavelength dimensions, their far-field is highly divergent. Our antipodal Vivaldi antenna is designed to produce a single-lobed far-field pattern with a beam width of less than 20°, spanning over two octaves in frequency (1.5-4.5 THz). Far-field measurements agree well with numerical simulations.
