  • High-color-purity transmissive colors with high angular tolerance based on metal/dielectric stacks

    摘要: In this work, high-color-purity transmissive colors with high angular tolerance are proposed. The metal/dielectric film stacks, by means of induced transmission effect, are able to achieve ~60% peak transmission and ~60 nm transmission band, so as to cover a large color gamut. The filter presents good incident angle insensitivity up to 60 degrees, ascribed to the combined contribution of the constant total phase shift within the intermediate dielectric layer and the relatively high refractive index of the dielectric layers. And the matching of the optical admittances for metal/dielectric layers is responsible to the high transmission of the metal-based film stack. Moreover, the optical constants of silver film, affected by deposition technology have a great impact on the optical property of the color device including the bandwidth and peak transmission. And the thickness of the top dielectric layer as well as the metal/dielectric stack number can also alter the performance of the color filter.

  • Narrow Bandpass and Efficient Semitransparent Organic Solar Cells Based on Bioinspired Spectrally Selective Electrodes

    摘要: The visual aesthetic that involves color, brightness, and glossiness is of great importance for building-integrated photovoltaics. Semi-transparent organic solar cells (ST-OSCs) are thus considered as the most promising candidate due to their superiority in transparency and efficiency. However, the realization of high color purity with narrow bandpass transmitted light usually causes the severely suppressed transparency in ST-OSCs. Herein, we present a spectrally selective electrode (SSE) by imitating the integrating strategy of beetle cuticle for achieving narrow bandpass ST-OSCs with high efficiency and long-term stability. The proposed SSE allows for efficient light-selective passage, leading to tunable narrow bandpass transmitted light from violet to red. An optimized power conversion efficiency of 15.07% is achieved for colorful ST-OSCs, which exhibit color purity close to 100% and a peak transmittance approaching 30%. Long-term stability is also improved for ST-OSCs made with this SSE due to the light-rejecting and the moisture-blocking abilities. The realization of bright and colorful ST-OSCs also indicates the application potential of SSEs in light-emitting diodes, lasers, and photodetectors.

  • Spectroscopic investigation of red Eu3+ doped ceria nanophosphors and promising color rendition for warm white LEDs

    摘要: Europium-ion doped CeO2 phosphors with different Eu3+ concentrations were synthesized via sol-gel combustion synthesis. X-ray diffraction patterns revealed the formation of pure cubic structure of CeO2 even after the incorporation of 35 mol% Eu3+. The excitation spectra of CeO2:Eu3+ displayed a broad band (330- 370 nm) and several sharp peaks (393- 532 nm) owing to the charge transfer (CT) from O2- to Ce4+ ions and f-f transitions of Eu3+ ions respectively. The evaluation of CT band was explained on the basis of environmental factors. The phosphors were illuminated with blue light and showed the characteristic red luminescence corresponding to the 5D0→ 7FJ transitions of Eu3+ as confirmed from XPS. The emission was observed to increase with the increase in the Eu3+ concentration upto 35 mol% without any quenching. Judd-Ofelt parameters were evaluated using the emission spectroscopy to explain the variation in ligand environment and enhancement of red color purity to 80%. The thermal stability of present phosphors was measured by estimating activation energy and TG-DSC analysis. Robust blue-excitation and sharp red-emission with high color-purity and promising thermal stability in fabricated WLEDs indicated the suitability of CeO2:Eu3+ phosphors for white light emitting diodes with quantum yield efficiency up to 84.6%.

  • Fabrication and characterization of microcavity organic light-emitting diode with CaF2/ZnS distributed Bragg reflector

    摘要: We fabricated alternately multilayered films using CaF2 and ZnS with a different number of pairs by thermal evaporation method and evaluated their reflectance as a distributed Bragg reflector (DBR). A 7-pair CaF2/ZnS multilayered film had an enough high reflectance for use as DBR in the wavelength region of 400–600 nm, which is good agreement with the theoretically calculated reflectance. The fabricated CaF2/ZnS multilayered film was incorporated to the organic light-emitting diode (OLED) devices. We found that the inversed-type OLED (iOLED) structure is suitable for achieving the working device. From the result of electroluminescence (EL) measurement, the spectral linewidth of EL of inversed OLED with DBR (μ-cavity iOLED) was significantly narrowed compared to that of conventional OLED (cOLED). The EL peak wavelength of μ-cavity iOLED was centered around 520 nm, which was well corresponded to the designed cavity length. The observed narrowing of EL spectra for μ-cavity iOLED was originated from the microcavity effect. Color coordinate of the emission were changed from cOLED: (0.31, 0.54) to μ-cavity iOLED (0.20, 0.72), which indicates a significant improvement of color purity of green emission.

  • Ultrapure Green Light-Emitting Diodes Based on CdSe/CdS Core/Crown Nanoplatelets

    摘要: Colloidal nanoplatelets is a kind of two-dimensional nano-materials with an atomically flat surface, leading to an ultra-narrow emission linewidth of 8~12 nm. In this paper, we fabricated a green light-emitting diodes (LEDs) based on CdSe/CdS core/crown NPLs. This device exhibited an electroluminescence (EL) at 521 nm with a full-width at half maximum (FWHM) of 15 nm and a maximum luminance of 4684 cd/m2. Such narrow EL FWHM indicates that the core/crown NPLs can achieve an ultrapure green LED with a 124.7% of NTSC (National Televison System Committee), realizing a high color saturation and wide color gamut display.

    摘要: We proposed microfluidic quantum dots light-emitting diodes using a liquid organic semiconductor (LOS) and quantum dots (QDs) solutions. LOS and QDs solutions were used as a backlight and a luminophore, respectively. Channels for the QDs solutions were stacked on the LOS backlight. With applying voltage, red photoluminescence (PL) emissions of the QDs solution excited by the LOS backlight, was observed. The full width at half maximum of the red-PL emission was 29.8 nm, which is narrower than that of the LOS backlight by 40%. The proposed device is expected to provide highly-bright flexible displays with high-color-purity.
