  • Over compensation algorithm for laser beam shaping using a deformable freeform mirror

    摘要: We propose an over compensation (OC) algorithm for laser beam shaping using deformable mirrors. In this algorithm, we model the beam shaping problem using a sequence of standard Monge-Ampère (MA) equations and iteratively applies over compensation to the deviated focal-plane irradiance distributions. Simulations show that this algorithm can get its minimum relative root mean square deviations (RRMSDs) using only a few iterations and actuator perturbations.

  • Generating autofocused aberration laser beams with different spectral performance

    摘要: We present a flexible approach for generating autofocused aberration laser beams (ALBs) of different wavelengths based on the diffractive optical element (DOE) design with distinct phase transmittance that has radial power q and periodic angular dependence sin(mφ). The diffraction pattern of ALBs strongly depends on the periodic angular power controlled phase of the DOE. During free-space propagation, the ALBs with different wavelengths convert into different light distributions that have mth-order symmetry (for odd m) and 2mth-order symmetry (for even m). The ALBs exhibit autofocusing properties that significantly differ at longer wavelengths relatively with smaller wavelengths. The formation of light intensity distributions in free-space propagation has a sharp focusing feature that strongly depends on the radial power q. The numerically simulated results are presented for wavelengths in the infrared, visible, and ultra-violet regimes. The experimental findings measured at a wavelength of λ = 1064 nm, show good agreement with the numerically simulated results and thus verifying our approach.

  • Implementation of a phase plate for the generation of homogeneous focal-spot intensity distributions at the high-energy short-pulse laser facility PHELIX

    摘要: We propose and demonstrate the use of random phase plates (RPPs) for high-energy sub-picosecond lasers. Contrarily to previous work related to nanosecond lasers, an RPP poses technical challenges with ultrashort-pulse lasers. Here, we implement the RPP near the beginning of the ampli?er and image-relay it throughout the laser ampli?er. With this, we obtain a uniform intensity distribution in the focus over an area 1600 times the diffraction limit. This method shows no signi?cant drawbacks for the laser and it has been implemented at the PHELIX laser facility where it is now available for users.

  • Coherent Ray Tracing Simulation Of Non-Imaging Laser Beam Shaping With Multi-Aperture Elements

    摘要: The application of laser light sources for illumination tasks like in mask aligner lithography relies on non-imaging optical systems with multi-aperture elements for beam shaping. When simulating such systems, the traditional approach is to separate the beam-shaping part (incoherent simulation) from dealing with coherence properties of the illuminating laser light source (diffraction theory with statistical treatment). We present an approach using Gaussian beam decomposition to include coherence simulation into ray tracing, combining these two parts, to get a complete picture in one simulation. We discuss source definition for such simulations, and verify our assumptions on a well-known system. We then apply our approach to an imaging beam shaping setup with microoptical multi-aperture elements. We compare the simulation to measurements of a similar beam-shaping setup with a 193 nm continuous-wave laser in a mask-aligner configuration.
