摘要: The characterization of physically small antennas in the millimeter-wave range has proven to be a challenge. Several research groups have developed new antenna measurement systems to be able to characterize millimeter-wave antennas. These measurement systems mainly focus on the establishment of a well-defined connection between test equipment and the antenna-under-test (AUT) for radiation pattern measurements. However, uncertainties affecting the measurement results are not always well understood. We have investigated the effect of misalignment, the effectiveness of an anechoic environment for frequencies up to 90 GHz and the impact of spurious radiation of the probe.

Improvement of 60 GHz transparent patch antenna array performance through specific double-sided micrometric mesh metal technology
摘要: This paper presents the performance of optically transparent 4 × 2 microstrip patch antenna arrays operating at 60 GHz and made from double-sided micrometric mesh metal layers. A high level of optical transparency (higher than 80%) over the entire visible light spectrum coupled with a sheet resistance lower than 0.5 Ω/sq of the mesh metal films are achieved. Microwave performance of the transparent antenna arrays has been performed from two different mesh ground plane patterns and compared with those of an opaque antenna array made of double-sided continuous metal films. A gain value equal to 13.6 dBi at 58.0 GHz has been recorded, against 15.6 dBi at 59.7 GHz for the opaque antenna array. The influence of the mesh structure and mesh parameters of the ground plane is investigated and discussed.

摘要: A wideband millimeter-wave (mm-wave) antenna using cavity and slot coupling techniques is presented in this paper. The bandwidth of the created mm-wave antenna is expanded by loading a circular patch over the C-shaped patch via a slot coupling, in which the circular patch is fed by slot coupling. The copper cavity-backed structure is utilized to provide stable directional radiation characteristics. The wideband mm-wave antenna is printed on RT/Duroid 5880 substrate, and the simulation results show that the mm-wave antenna can achieve a wide bandwidth of 46.2% (33.8-54.1GHz). The proposed mm-wave antenna has good directional radiation characteristics and small size, rendering it useful in many wireless communication systems.
