  • Surface Integrity and Oxidation of a Powder Metallurgy Ni-Based Superalloy Treated by Laser Shock Peening

    摘要: Laser shock peening (LSP) is a mechanical surface treatment which can induce large compressive residual stresses and microstructural changes in a material by using repetitive shocks from laser pulses. In this work, the surface integrity (surface microstructure, topography, hardness and residual stress) of a LSP-treated powder metallurgy Ni-based superalloy was investigated for the first time. LSP treatment introduced large plastic deformation especially at a depth of about 100 lm from the surface, which increased the local hardness. The residual stress from the surface to the interior of the sample was investigated by synchrotron x-ray diffraction. The maximum compressive stress reached 400 MPa at the surface, while the depth of the compressive stress is about 0.7 mm. Lastly, the oxidation behavior of the treated and untreated samples was evaluated by thermal exposure at 700°C for 312 h. The LSP treatment decreased the thickness of the oxide layer, thereby showing improved oxidation resistance.

  • Laser hardening of copper-iron pseudoalloy

    摘要: The purpose of the study is to improve the performance characteristics of powder pseudo-alloy materials using surface heat treatment. Such materials have unique properties, for example, self-lubrication under dry friction conditions, high thermal conductivity coefficient, and high electro-erosion resistance. The disadvantage of powder pseudo-alloys is their relatively low strength. The paper considers the method of surface hardening by high-energy treatment - laser radiation. The paper describes the method of experimental research, describes the method of obtaining powder material, its chemical composition, shows the equipment used. The results of studies of the microstructure and microhardness of the surface layer of steel-copper powder pseudo-alloy after laser heat treatment (LHT) of a continuous-wave fiber laser with a maximum power of 1 kW are given, LHT modes are indicated, the influence of LHT parameters on the characteristics of the hardened layer is evaluated. It is revealed that the partial melting region in which melting occurs in the volumes of the fusible component (copper) in the initial structure and contacting segments of steel matrix is formed in the material in addition to the total melting zone. Then the quenching zone from the solid state follows, in which the maximal hardness up to 1000 HV is attained for best samples in the volume of martensite, which is formed in perlite colonies of the initial steel–copper material.

  • Comparison of Titanium Powders and Products Manufactured by the Direct Laser Deposition Method

    摘要: Ti-6Al-4V powders from two different vendors and two different fraction were compared with respect to their microstructures, size-distributions, chemistries, surface appearances. In addition, the influence of these powders on the structure and properties of products manufactured by an additive direct laser deposition method were established. The main parameters that have a significant impact on the structure and properties of Ti-6Al-4V deposited parts were established.

  • Investigation of Aluminum Composite Produced by Laser-Assisted Cold Spray Additive Manufacturing

    摘要: The relevance of the work is due to the need in the modern world to obtain products with gradient properties for aerospace and medical applications. The method of laser-assisted cold spraying allows obtaining composite materials by additive technology. As a result of this work, a layer of material was constructed from a mechanical mixture of aluminum Al powder with corundum powder Al2O3, then the structure and properties of the material obtained were studied, and zones of gradient transition were identified.

  • Selective Laser Melting of Nanocomposite Ti-6Al-4V and TiC Powder

    摘要: The paper presents the study results of the selective laser melting process of the Ti-6Al-4V alloy and nanosized powder TiC composition. The results of the particles morphology study of resulting powder composition after blending are presented. The microstructure and mechanical characteristics of the obtained composite material were studied. Study of microstructures using optical and electron microscopes were conducted.
