The use of LCS process as additive technology is promising for obtaining functional materials with gradient properties. Gradient zones were identified by chemical composition and density. The study demonstrated the potential for controlled zones with increased or decreased density of the base material.

The study utilized laser-assisted cold spray (LCS) additive manufacturing to construct a layer of material from a mechanical mixture of aluminum Al powder with corundum powder Al2O

4 The layer was constructed by sequential deposition of straight tracks. The spray gun applied powder at supersonic speed, and the laser beam heated the substrate and the deposited powder simultaneously.

The structure of the obtained sample was studied using optical and scanning electron microscopy, and mechanical properties were studied using the Vickers hardness test.
