    摘要: A new scheme for a grid connected photovoltaic system capable of enhancing power quality of a distribution system is presented in this paper. The proposed system is consisted of a dual unified power quality conditioner (D-UPQC) based on open-end winding (OEW) transformer and series connected converters. The D-UPQC is consisted of four series converters connected to the grid via two three-phase transformer with open-end winding on the converters side. The proposed scheme uses two PV arrays, each array feeds a separate dc-link of a two three phase voltage source converter (VSC). The structure, control and capability of the proposed configuration are discussed in this paper. The effectiveness of the proposed configuration has been verified through simulation studies using Simulink/Matlab.

    摘要: This paper proposes a multiobjective voltage unbalance factor to estimate single-phase photovoltaic (PV) hosting capacity in 3-phase residential networks. This factor is derived from a combination of various components, including zero and negative-sequence voltage unbalance factors associated with the inherent variability and uncertainty of both loads and PV generation. A time-varying probabilistic ZIP load model is also incorporated in the proposed factor to characterize the uncertainty of voltage-dependent loads within each hour of a day over four seasons. The location, size and phase allocation of PV units are randomly generated. Simulation results obtained on a modified IEEE 4-bus test feeder and the IEEE European low voltage test feeder show that the developed approach can provide a better response to the hourly-varying and uncertain behaviors of loads and generation.

    摘要: With the rising popularity of photovoltaic (PV) power, utility companies are experiencing a growing number of interconnection requests on their networks. Combined with power quality issues, the distribution system operator (DSO) must go through strenuous impact studies before proceeding to the installation of PV systems. To address this issue, this work proposes a tool to rapidly and accurately compute the total PV hosting capacity (PVHC) of their network. Moreover, the proposed tool allows the implementation of user-defined control strategies in order to assess their beneficial effects with respect to the PVHC. In this prospect, we investigated the impact of smart PV inverters. We implemented this tool as a plugin for PowerFactory and tested it on the CIGRE benchmark distribution grid. First, we determined the PVHC with inverters injecting at unity power factor, then we estimated the gains brought by smart inverter control (SIC). The latter increased the hosting capacity by up to 19.7 %.

  • Cascaded H-Bridge MLI and Three-Phase Cascaded VSI Topologies for Grid-Connected PV Systems with Distributed MPPT

    摘要: Cascaded multilevel inverter topologies have received a great deal of attention for grid-connected PV systems. In this paper, three-cascaded multilevel inverter configurations are proposed for grid-connected PV applications. These are the three-phase cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter topology, three-phase cascaded voltage-source inverter topology using inductors, and three-phase cascaded voltage-source inverter topology using coupled transformers. Distributed maximum power point tracking (MPPT) of PV modules using perturbation and observation algorithm is used for all presented topologies. In all presented configurations, each PV module is connected to one DC-DC isolated ?uk converter for best MPPT achievement. Simulation is achieved by using the SIMULINK environment. The simulation results show that the three proposed topologies function well in improving the grid’s power quality. The grid currents are kept in phase with the grid voltage to ensure unity power factor, and the THD of the grid currents are within the acceptable range. The proposed topologies are experimentally implemented in the lab, and the switching pulses are generated with the help of the MicroLabBox data acquisition system. Comparing the three topologies according to the number of switches, voltage, and current stresses on switches and THD of the generated voltages and grid currents and according to the efficiency has been achieved in this paper, both experimentally and by simulation. The simulation and experimental results and comparisons are presented to verify the proposed topologies’ effectiveness and reliability.

  • Flicker Limit Compliance Assessment in the Presence of Background Disturbances

    摘要: Assessing voltage fluctuations in the power system is necessary to prevent negative impacts to customers and the connected equipment. A flickermeter can be used to measure a flicker severity level that is based on the total voltage fluctuation present at a measurement point. The flickermeter can only assess the total flicker level at the measurement point; it cannot identify any individual network user’s contribution. For the purposes of limit compliance assessment, it is essential to have the ability to determine each user’s contribution. A measurement algorithm for accomplishing this task is presented in this paper. The algorithm is based on using measured voltages and user currents to determine the user complex power, and from the complex power and an online estimate of the network impedance, estimate the voltage fluctuation that the user would produce, if acting alone, at the measurement point. These estimated voltage fluctuations are used as inputs to the flickermeter so that the resultant flicker severity value reflects only the contribution of the individual user. Fourteen weeks of field test results are correlated with user demand data to demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach, and the traditional concepts of weekly percentiles, flicker summation, and background flicker are employed to validate the results.

  • Power Quality Management of PV Power Plant with Transformer Integrated Filtering Method

    摘要: This paper presents a new solution of power quality management for the photovoltaic (PV) power plant with the transformer integrated filtering method. The innovation of the PV power plant is that it contains two-stage filtering station, which consists of a box-type transformer with filter and a 110 kV grid-connected transformer based on inductive filtering method. The filtering reactor can be integrated into the box-type transformer as a decoupled winding, so that the modular design of the box-type transformer and the passive filter are realized. Inductive filtering method applied transformer not only improves the power quality at the point of common coupling, but dampens the harmonic resonance between the passive filter and grid. The hierarchical structure of the PV power plant is introduced firstly. Then, the equivalent circuit model and the mathematical model of the primary filtering stations are established, and secondary respectively. Moreover, the influence of the weak coupling of integrated reactor on the filtering performance is analyzed. The antijamming capabilities of the inductive filtering method and the traditional filtering method are compared under the condition of parameter disturbance. At last, the site tests of the PV power plant with transformer integrated filtering method are made, which show that the PV grid-connected system comprised of the two-stage filtering station has the characteristics of low harmonic emission, high power factor and stable operation.

  • An efficient wide input wide output <scp>CrCM flyback</scp> converter <scp>in high</scp> a??power <scp>LED</scp> lighting

    摘要: This paper deals with a power factor corrected (PFC) flyback converter for high-power light emitting diode lighting applications. This flyback converter is designed to operate in critical conduction mode to achieve improved power quality at universal AC mains and high efficiency with the low component count. The converter is analyzed using state-space analysis with closed-loop stability under varying input and output conditions. The PFC converter is designed and implemented with wide input and wide output variations. The performance of the prototype is also investigated for improved power quality such as power factor and harmonics distortion of AC mains current at universal AC mains of 85 to 265 V. The achieved efficiency of this converter is 92% and total harmonic distortion is less than 6% over universal AC mains for a prototype of 100 W, which are much improved results as compared to discontinuous conduction mode operation of the same converter.

    摘要: This paper proposes an improved H-bridge multi-level inverter in the photovoltaic power conversion system (PPCS) system which is connected to the distribution grid. The power quality is improved with the number of levels and balanced active power sharing between the sources has been achieved. The bidirectional power ?ow is achieved. The two-stage SPVS extracts the maximum power from the solar panels through the incremental conductance (IC) algorithm based control of the DC-DC converter. The system is designed with multi-functional objectives such as reactive power support and load harmonic mitigation in addition with the active power penetration to the grid. The system is modelled and simulated in MATLAB/Simulink platform and the laboratory prototype is developed, and test results are produced for result validation.

  • An Integration of Solar Photovoltaic Generation to Three-Phase Utility Using Adaptive Control Algorithm

    摘要: This paper deals with the modified weighted least-mean square (LMS) control strategy for single-stage, solar photovoltaic (PV) grid-integrated system to enhance the power quality at common coupling point. This control algorithm has fast convergence, fewer oscillations, fast dynamic response, and good steady-state performance than the other LMS-based control algorithm. The incremental conductance-based maximum power point tracking technique is used to obtain the crest power from the PV array, which is used to sustain DC link voltage by proportional–integral controller. The fundamental component of load current is extracted using this proposed control technique to estimate the reference currents of grid. This proposed control algorithm addresses various power quality concerns such as harmonics reduction, power factor correction, and load unbalancing. The VSC of PV array-interfaced grid system feeds real power to the loads, and surfeit real power is injected into the distribution network. The dynamic performance of proposed single-stage PV-fed three-phase system is validated into the MATLAB\Simulink environment at nonlinear loads, and simulated results are validated with test results on an experimental prototype at different environmental conditions such as varying solar irradiation and load unbalancing. Test results are found satisfactory, and total harmonic distortions of grid currents are observed well within limits of the IEEE-519 standard.

  • Analysis of the Power Quality of a Grid-Connected Photovoltaic System

    摘要: The use of Grid-Connected Photovoltaic Systems is increasingly on the rise in Brazil. Faced with this growth, it is necessary to evaluate the impacts of this source in the electric energy systems. Based on this scenario, the present work aims to analyze and quantify the impact of a grid-connected photovoltaic system connection, evaluating the Electric Power Quality indicators based on the levels specified in Module 8 of the Electric Energy Distribution Procedures in the National Electric System. To perform the data collection, an energy analyzer device was installed at the output of the grid-connected system inverter located in the Energy Laboratory of the Federal Rural Semi-Arid University, located in the city of Mossoró-RN. Using the collected data, it was possible to analyze parameters of voltage and current distortion, power factor, active, reactive and apparent power, voltage, frequency variations, and voltage unbalance. It was observed that the criteria analyzed were within the appropriate standards although there were also verified cases that there was an elevation in tension levels. Finally, it is concluded that the impacts caused are relevant within the electric system, and grid connected system performance was satisfactory, although there are still possibilities for improvements.
