摘要: Biometrics is commonly used in many automated verification systems offering several advantages over traditional verification methods. Since biometric features are associated with individuals, their leakage will violate individuals’ privacy, which can cause serious and continued problems as the biometric data from a person are irreplaceable. To protect the biometric data containing privacy information, a number of privacy-preserving biometric schemes (PPBSs) have been developed over the last decade, but they have various drawbacks. The aim of this paper is to provide a comprehensive overview of the existing PPBSs and give guidance for future privacy-preserving biometric research. In particular, we explain the functional mechanisms of popular PPBSs and present the state-of-the-art privacy-preserving biometric methods based on these mechanisms. Furthermore, we discuss the drawbacks of the existing PPBSs and point out the challenges and future research directions in PPBSs.

摘要: Bloom-?lter-based forwarding has been suggested to solve several fundamental problems in the current Internet, such as routing-table growth, multicast scalability issues, and denial-of-service (DoS) attacks by botnets. The proposed protocols are source-routed and include the delivery tree encoded as a Bloom ?lter in each packet. The network nodes forward packets based on this in-packet information without consulting routing tables and without storing per-?ow state. We show that these protocols have critical vulnerabilities and make several false security assumptions. In particular, we present DoS attacks against broad classes of Bloom-?lter-based protocols and conclude that the protocols are not ready for deployment on open networks. The results also help us understand the limitations and design options for Bloom-?lter forwarding.

摘要: This paper proposes a new fast technique, in which the slope of a photovoltaic (PV) inverter current is utilized to predict if the current is expected to exceed its rated value due to any grid faults. Two applications of this technique are demonstrated. In jurisdictions where grid codes require distributed generators (DGs) to disconnect after a fault occurrence, such as in Ontario, Canada, this technique is utilized to rapidly disconnect the PV solar system even before the inverter short circuit current actually exceeds the rated current of the inverter, thereby obviating the problem of any adverse short circuit current contribution into the grid. However, in regions where grid codes require DGs to stay connected and provide grid support, such as low-voltage ride through, this technique can be used to rapidly and autonomously transform the PV solar farm into a dynamic reactive power compensator STATCOM (termed PV-STATCOM) for providing voltage support function. In this paper, the PV-STATCOM is used to stabilize a critical induction motor load in the vicinity of the solar farm, which would have otherwise become unstable due to the grid fault. PSCAD-based simulation studies are performed on a realistic distribution network to demonstrate the effectiveness of this technique.

摘要: This paper deals with the impact of a gas discharge arrester's electrodes' shapes on its performance. When after extinguishing the electric arc between the electrodes of the gas discharge arrester and the electric-field strength between the electrodes exceeds the critical value, reignition occurs. Computation of the electric-field strength between the electrodes of the existing gas discharge arresters using the finite elements method shows that electric-field strength reaches its highest values at the edges of the electrodes. It therefore makes sense to reduce the electric-field strength at the edges of the electrodes by changing the electrodes' shapes. This also reduces the risk of reigniting the electric arc between the electrodes and improves the arrester's ability to self-extinguish. The electrodes can be geometrically shaped in such a way that ensures much uniform distribution of the electric-field strength as possible. This paper describes the model of a gas discharge arrester and the use of a differential evolution optimization algorithm for computation of the more adequate shapes of electrodes. Thus, uniform distribution of the electric-field strength is ensured between the gas discharge arrester electrodes.

Dual-protection Strategy for High-efficiency and Stable CsPbI2Br Inorganic Perovskite Solar Cells
摘要: Large opening circuit voltage (Voc) loss and poor moisture stability have significantly hindered the progress of inorganic perovskite solar cells (IPSCs). Here, we report a dual-protection strategy via incorporating monomer trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TMTA) into CsPbI2Br perovskite bulk and capping surface with 2-thiophenemethylammonium iodide (Th-NI) to ameliorate above issues. Benefiting from growth control and effective suppression of both bulk and surface recombination, the resulted devices show a great improved efficiency from 12.17% to 15.58% with a champion Voc of 1.286 V. Besides, dual-protection strategy endows films with promoted moisture tolerance and the non-encapsulated device remains 83.4% of its initial efficiency after aging at 25% relative humidity for 1540 h. More importantly, the target device shows good operational stability and reveals the unfallen efficiency after maximum power point tracking for 350 h at 45 °C. Our work offers a feasible method to fabricate efficient and stable CsPbI2Br IPSCs for future commercialization.

摘要: In this paper, we propose an efficient distortion-based privacy-preserving metering scheme that protects an individual customer’s privacy and provides the complete power consumption distribution curve of a multitude of customers without privacy invasion. In the proposed scheme, a random noise is purposely introduced to distort customers’ power consumption data at the smart meter so that data recovery becomes infeasible. Using the power consumption data and prior knowledge about added random noise, we develop an efficient algorithm for power consumption distribution reconstruction needed for power demand analysis and prediction. As a complete solution, our scheme also supports a privacy-preserving billing service. Using experimental results from real world single household power consumption data set and synthesized data of a large number of households, we demonstrate that the proposed scheme is robust against known attacks. Since it does not demand new facilities on existing smart grids, the proposed scheme offers a practical solution.

X-ray radiation protection aspects during ultrashort laser processing
摘要: Ultrashort pulse laser processing of materials allows for precise machining with high accuracy. By increasing the repetition rate to several 100 kHz, laser machining becomes quick and cost-effective. Ultrafast laser processing at high repetition rates and peak intensities above 1013 W/cm2 can cause a potential hazard by generation of unwanted x-ray radiation. Therefore, radiation protection must be considered. For 925 fs pulse duration at a center wavelength of 1030 nm, the x-ray emission in air at a repetition rate of 400 kHz was investigated up to a peak intensity of 2.6 × 1014 W/cm2. Based on the presented measurements, the properties of potential shielding materials will be discussed. By extending our previous works, a scaling of the x-ray radiation emission to higher peak intensities up to 1015 W/cm2 is described, and emitted x-ray doses are predicted.

Evaluation of synergistic effects of the single walled carbon nanotube and CeO2-hybrid based-nanocomposite against X-ray radiation in diagnostic radiology
摘要: Unwanted exposure during irradiation in diagnostic procedures can be very harmful to health. Researchers have done extensive studies on heavy metals and their composites to prevent or reduce this risk. However, the disadvantages, such as high weight, rigidity or toxicity, limit the use of heavy metals. So far, great efforts have been devoted to designing and manufacturing lightweight /effective protective coatings that could attenuate or absorb radiation. In this regard, polymer composites are considered as potent materials. In the present study, the protective properties of polydimethylsiloxane hybrid nanocomposites containing single wall carbon nanotube (SWCNT) and cerium oxide nanoparticles (nanoceria) have been evaluated. The exposure tests on these coatings were performed by a diagnostic X-ray machine in the radiology department of the Urmia Imam Khomeini Hospital. To evaluate the amount of attenuation, beam intensity was measured at two narrow and broad beam geometries (NBG & BBG). The measurement procedures were well chosen according to the related Standards. The Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) was applied in order to investigate the nanocomposite morphology and dispersion properties of nanoparticles. Thermal stability and chemical composition of the nanocomposites were studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), respectively. FTSEM images and elemental analysis proved that nanoparticle showed excellent dispersion into the polymeric matrix. The attenuation improved significantly compared to the polydimethylsiloxane pure coating. The rate of attenuation increases with increasing nanoceria percentage and ultimately the hybrid sample has a better efficiency than the sample with a similar percentage of the nanoceria.

A case study of photovoltaic power generation and its future ramp possibility for Tokyo electric power area
摘要: A case study of rapid variation (ramp event) of photovoltaic (PV) power generation on 18 April 2016 for the Tokyo Electric Power Company (called “TEPCO”) power area is considered in this study. PV system installation in the TEPCO area has been increasing (approximately 10 GW PV system capacity). Quasi real-time monitoring of PV power generation by using satellite-estimated solar radiation is performed. Under assumptions of future PV system installation scenarios (from 21.78 GW to 85.76 GW in the TEPCO area), temporal and spatial variations of PV power generation are estimated.
