摘要: In this paper, a frequency domain identification-based power prediction system is developed for the photo-voltaic (PV) power plant. A first-order plus dead time (FOPDT) model of the PV power plant is first identified using the daily PV power plant operating data. Given the identified FOPDT model, we do discretization to obtain an FOPDT-based iterative calculation formula for the PV power prediction. Finally, a portable Power Prediction software of Python is developed using the resulting iterative calculation formula. In numerical experiments, we showcase the effectiveness of the Power Prediction software by applying it to real data.

A High-Level Synthesis Implementation and Evaluation of an Image Processing Accelerator
摘要: Most frequently, an FPGA is used as an implementation platform in applications of graphics processing, as its structure can effectively exploit both spatial and temporal parallelism. Such parallelization techniques involve fundamental restrictions, namely being their dependence on both the processing model and the system’s hardware constraints, that can force the designer to restructure the architecture and the implementation. Predesigned accelerators can significantly assist the designer to solve this problem and meet his deadlines. In this paper, we present our accelerators for Grayscale and Sobel Edge Detection, two of the most fundamental algorithms used in digital image processing projects. We have implemented those algorithms with a “bare-metal” VHDL design, written purely by hand, as a portable USB accelerator device, as well as an HLS-based overlay of a similar implementation designed to be used by a Python interface. The comparisons of the two architectures showcase that the HLS generated design can perform equally to or even better than the handwritten HDL equivalent, especially when the correct compiler directives are provided.

Multi-Objective Optimization of Residual Stress and Cost in Laser Shock Peening Process Using Finite Element Analysis and PSO Algorithm
摘要: Laser shock peening (LSP) is an effective process utilized for surface enhancement of metal parts so that generating compressive residual stresses (RS) on the surface improves fatigue life of the material. The main affecting parameters on surface negative residual stress are laser power, laser beam size and shape, peening pitch and pattern. Varying these parameters alters the magnitude and depth of RS as well as the cost of LSP. An integrated method for simulation of optimum LSP process is presented in this paper, in which Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) technique was employed utilizing Python coding in ABAQUS finite element environment to maximize the uniformity of compressive RS and minimize LSP cost on an Inconel 718 super-alloy specimen. The mentioned affecting parameters were selected as optimization parameters, and minimum acceptable amounts and depth of compressive RSs were two main design constraints. Simulation results were compared with previously published experimental ones, and optimum LSP variables were finally determined and presented for certain amount of design constraints. It was revealed that, relatively small circular laser beam, shot by square scanning pattern, leads to generate the most uniform RS with minimum LSP cost.

摘要: This paper reports on the results of a developing Python-MATLAB interface program to implement optical wireless communication system simulation. We implement Python interface for entering input values and simulation environment variables for MATLAB. We operate MATLAB to numerical computing process about communication system simulation to generate a signal, to approximate channel characteristics and to recover the signal. Python passes input data and environment variables to MATLAB and displays output data and graphs from the simulation after MATLAB numerical computing.

摘要: Ptychography is an emerging imaging technique that is able to provide wavelength-limited spatial resolution from specimen with extended lateral dimensions. As a scanning microscopy method, a typical two-dimensional image requires a number of data frames. As a diffraction-based imaging technique, the real-space image has to be recovered through iterative reconstruction algorithms. Due to these two inherent aspects, a ptychographic reconstruction is generally a computation-intensive and time-consuming process, which limits the throughput of this method. We report an accelerated version of the multi-mode difference map algorithm for ptychography reconstruction using multiple distributed GPUs. This approach leverages available scienti?c computing packages in Python, including mpi4py and PyCUDA, with the core computation functions implemented in CUDA C. We ?nd that interestingly even with MPI collective communications, the weak scaling in the number of GPU nodes can still remain nearly constant. Most importantly, for realistic diffraction measurements, we observe a speedup ranging from a factor of 10 to 103 depending on the data size, which reduces the reconstruction time remarkably from hours to typically about 1 minute and is thus critical for real-time data processing and visualization.

For detecting, the presence of particular wildlife in a particular area and their sleep pattern and various things about their identity can be known by the use of this application. The application detects the motion of the object that come in the visual region of the camera and plot the time for which the object remain in its visual sight.

The HST/WFC3 Quicklook Project: A User Interface to Hubble Space Telescope Wide Field Camera 3 Data
摘要: The Hubble Space Telescope’s Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) instrument, comprised of two detectors, UVIS (Ultraviolet-Visible) and IR (Infrared), has been acquiring ~50-100 images daily since its installation in 2009. The WFC3 Quicklook project provides a means for instrument analysts to store, calibrate, monitor, and interact with these data through the various Quicklook systems: (1) a ~175 TB ?lesystem, which stores the entire WFC3 archive on disk, (2) a MySQL database, which stores image header data, (3) a Python-based automation platform, which currently executes 22 unique calibration/monitoring scripts, (4) a Python-based code library, which provides system functionality such as logging, downloading tools, database connection objects, and ?lesystem management, and (5) a Python/Flask-based web interface to the Quicklook system. The Quicklook project has enabled large-scale WFC3 analyses and calibrations, such as the monitoring of the health and stability of the WFC3 instrument, the measurement of ~20 million WFC3/UVIS Point Spread Functions (PSFs), the creation of WFC3/IR persistence calibration products, and many others.
