    摘要: In this paper, a phosphorescent white LED CAP 64QAM VLC system utilizing deep neural network (DNN) and LMS linear equalization (LE) has been experimentally demonstrated. We successfully achieve a data rate of 2.4Gb/s at a 1.1-m indoor free space transmission with the bit error rate (BER) below the 7% forward error correction (FEC) limit of 3.8 (cid:104)(cid:104) 10-3. Compared to the LE and volterra NLE+LE, DNN+LE brings a better performance to mitigate nonlinear distortion. The results show that DNN+LE will be a promising solution for indoor high-speed VLC system

    摘要: In this paper, we consider an indoor Visible Light Communication (VLC) system with a placement technique with and without an overlap formed, using four and five Light Emitting Diodes (LED), placements on a room roof. To support the better received signal power, this paper evaluated the performance of LED overlap using the 3-Watt transmit power. We did a computer simulation using the dimension closed communication 5x5x3 m3. In this paper, we found that the VLC system with an overlap was better than the one without an overlap. The result showed that the received power could reach the minimum Bit Error Rate (BER) threshold around -18 dBm for VLC system without an overlap and -20 dBm for VLC system with an overlap. From the simulation, it obtained that communication link coverage with an overlap was about 25 m2.

  • Extended Spatial-Index LED Modulation for Optical MIMO-OFDM Wireless Communication

    摘要: An efficient optical modulation technique for multi-input multi-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) visible light communication system is proposed in this paper. The proposed modulation technique is termed as extended spatial-index light-emitting diode (LED) modulation. In the proposed technique, the indices (the spatial domain) of the LEDs are exploited in a dynamic style to not only get rid of the optical OFDM time-domain (OFDMtd) shaping problem but also to expand the LED indices spatial modulation domain. The indices of the active LEDs in the proposed technique are changed from the two LEDs active situation to the situation where all or several LEDs are active. Moreover, within the selected active LED indices, the power weight distribution and the positions of the OFDM components are varied to expand the resultant spatial domain. Therefore, the proposed technique offers a considerable spectral efficiency improvement over the up-to-date LED index OFDM modulation schemes even with a lower number of LEDs. The key idea of the proposed technique is to maximize the LEDs’ indices spatial position (spatial domain) utilization, where both the power weight allocation and the positions of the complex OFDM time domain components are varying several times over the same active LED indices combination, which improve the optical system spectral efficiency. The simulation results asserted the superiority of the proposed technique, as it improves both the average bit error rate (ABER) and the achievable data rate (R) compared with existing up-to-date OFDM-LED index modulations with even lower computational complexity.

  • A comparative study of organic photodetectors based on P3HT and PTB7 polymers for Visible Light Communication

    摘要: Visible light communication (VLC) is a promising candidate to face the bandwidth limitation problems of traditional radio communication system. The use of a light emitting diode (LED), directly modulated, as a transmitter of the wireless telecommunication link permits the installation of VLC-based systems in practically all human-attended settings (home, office, markets). However, a drawback of VLC systems remains the receiver side, due to the lack of photovoltaic devices for this specific application. Organic electronics based on solution processed technologies has the great potential to be applied in VLC systems, building effective, scalable and low-cost photodetectors. We have investigated the effect of the device architecture on optical and electrical device performance, using both P3HT:PCBM and PTB7:PC70BM bulk-heterojunction active layers. We have established that both materials and structures could affect greatly the device properties, and we have provided an analytical representation of the spectral matching between light source and detector. In particular, the most promising device, based on a P3HT:PCBM blend, has demonstrated high performance, especially using an inverted structure. In this configuration, a device cut-off frequency of ~1.0MHz has been achieved, paying the way to organic photodetector application on VLC-based telecommunication systems in 5G scenarios.

    摘要: Visible light communication (VLC) systems should be designed to provide illumination and wireless data services simultaneously. To achieve this goal at a reasonable cost, the use of Phosphor-Converted (PC) LEDs for indirect illumination should be favored to provide a homogeneous and reliable coverage in the whole service area. Unfortunately, PC-LEDs found in the market so far have not been designed for data transmission; moreover, the response of the other (electro-)optical components of the VLC link are far from ideal. In this paper, we estimate the data rate that is feasible with VLC when indirect illumination is used. For this purpose, the end-to-end response of the VLC link is first modeled using actual measurements of the spectral power distribution of a PC-LED lamp and the ceiling reflectance. Then, different power allocation schemes are studied assuming an optical OFDM waveform. As commercial LEDs have a relatively slow time response, the equivalent VLC channel that results has strong frequency selectivity; therefore, notable data rate gains are achievable when water filling power allocation is applied.

    摘要: In recent years, visible light communication technology has been widely used in indoor positioning since GPS navigation often cannot work normally indoor and it is difficult for car owners to find a parking space. The use of LED light source for address coding can realize indoor positioning navigation. According to the actual situation of the indoor parking lot, the sensor, Zigbee infrared communication are comprehensively utilized to realize the intelligent positioning navigation function. The reliability of the system has been verified by the parking lot model: the infrared sensor can detect the parking space information in real time; then, the server sends the information to the LED lighting fixture through Zigbee communication; next, the lighting fixture modulates the address and parking space information into the LED light through OOK code; last, the receiver receives the LED light through the PIN photoelectric sensor, and after decoding, the information is sent to the client through the Bluetooth and the client uses the received information to realize the positioning navigation.

    摘要: Visible Light Communication is a promising technology for data transmission, which has become more and more relevant in recent years. Other than the common approach of modulated LED lighting, display-camera communication has become an attractive novel take on the concept. As outlined in earlier papers, the DaViD (Data Transmission Using Video Displays) system provides a modulation concept allowing for a data overlay onto video content which is nearly invisible to the viewer, i.e. causing hardly any perceptible degradation in video quality. This is achieved by differentially modulating the chrominance information of the underlying video frames with low amplitudes. The resulting color differences within the recorded images can be interpreted by the receiver, allowing for reconstruction of the transmitted data. In this paper, we introduce further system details and improvements to the DaViD concept. In addition to traditional transmission systems, on the display-camera link, the receiver has to be not only temporally but also spatially synchronized to the transmitter. We address the spatial synchronization problem by utilizing localization patterns for detecting the modulation area and a separate optimization on columns and rows for data resampling. Using a slight temporal oversampling, clean data frames can be reconstructed on the receiver side. Based on our modulation and coding concept, we achieve a data rate up to 34.56 Mbit/s in our current demonstration setup with hardly any visible degradation in video quality.

    摘要: this paper establishes a visible light communication system between LED traffic lights and vehicles under strong background light, and introduces the power inversion algorithm into the system to suppress the influence of strong background light, then analyzes and compares the bit error rate of the systems under different signal-to-interference ratio. The simulation results show that the power inversion using the 3-element receiving array can generate a null of about -70dB in the direction of strong background light, so that the noise value of the output is significantly reduced, the signal gain remains unchanged. When the signal interference ratio of system is -15, the BER is 10-4, which can supply the need of communication.

    摘要: This paper proposes, for the ?rst time, an optically lossless light emitting diode (LED) bandwidth extension technique based on the adoption of negative impedance converters applied in the context of high capacity visible light communication systems. The proposed technique aims to achieve bandwidth extension by offsetting the bandwidth-limiting effect of the LED diffusion capacitance through the introduction of a parallel negative capacitance. With the proposed technique, we predict up to 200% improvement in the LED modulation bandwidth with studies based on a veri?ed LED equivalent model.

    摘要: To reduce the incidence of traffic accidents, Visible Light Communication (VLC) based Intelligent Transport System (ITS) has been widely accepted as a promising solution. The Deep Learning technology can be utilized to help VLC based ITS applications both for vehicles and infrastructures. This paper proposes a deep learning assisted VLC unmanned vehicles which can automatically capture and identify different traffic signs. Then deep learning algorithm will be implemented and control the unmanned vehicle performing corresponding motion operations. Theoretical analysis and demo system are provided to verify the proposed scheme.
