  • Calderbank-Shor-Steane holographic quantum error-correcting codes

    摘要: We expand the class of holographic quantum error-correcting codes by developing the notion of block perfect tensors, a wider class that includes previously defined perfect tensors. The relaxation of this constraint opens up a range of other holographic codes. We demonstrate this by introducing the self-dual Calderbank-Shor-Steane (CSS) heptagon holographic code, based on the 7-qubit Steane code. Finally, we show promising thresholds for the erasure channel by applying a straightforward, optimal erasure decoder to the heptagon code and benchmark it against existing holographic codes.

  • A polyoxometalate-based metal–organic polyhedron constructed from a {V <sub/>5</sub> O <sub/>9</sub> Cl} building unit with rhombicuboctahedral geometry

    摘要: The design and construction of metal–organic polyhedra has received much attention by chemists due to the intriguing diversity of architectures and topologies that can be achieved. There are several crucial factors which should be considered for the construction of metal–organic polyhedra, such as the starting materials, reaction time and temperature, solvent and suitable organic ligands. Recently, polyoxometalates (POMs), serving as secondary building units to construct POM-based metal–organic polyhedra, have been the subject of much interest. The title compound, dodecakis(dimethylammonium) octakis(μ-benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylato)hexa-μ-chlorido-tetracosa-μ-oxido-triacontaoxidotriacontavanadium, (NH2Me2)12[(V5O9Cl)6(C9H3O6)8], was synthesized successfully by self-assembly of VOCl3 and benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylic acid under solvothermal conditions. The title polyhedron has an rdo topology when the {V5O9Cl} building unit and the benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylate (BTC3?) ligand were simplified into 4-connected and 3-connected vertices. Interestingly, when the {V5O9Cl} building unit and the BTC3? ligand are considered as quadrangular and triangular faces, the structure displays rhombicuboctahedral geometry with an outer diameter of 21.88 ?. The packing of the polyhedra produces a circular channel with a diameter of 8.2 ?. The title compound was characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and powder X-ray diffraction.

    摘要: This study reports the interfacial engineering by means of SAM (Self-assembled monolayer)-based gate dielectric on channel mobility in molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) field-effect transistors (FETs). A gated four-probe method was implemented to eliminate the effect of contact resistance on channel mobility. The formation of SAM significantly plays an important role in the improvement of channel mobility as high as 19 cm2/Vs in MoS2 FETs because the superior interfacial properties can be realized in MoS2/SAM structure. This study opens up interesting direction of interface engineering for research in the applications and developments of 2-dimensional materials-based thin film devices.

  • Discrete-Pulsed Current Time Method to Estimate Channel Thermal Resistance of GaN-Based Power Devices

    摘要: A simple electrical method to extract device channel thermal resistance in transistors is presented here. The method compares the dc to discrete-pulsed characteristics and estimates the effective increase in channel temperature under dc biasing conditions. Using the discrete-pulsed I versus t method, the self-heating of the device is effectively eliminated, which helps avoiding the underestimation of the device channel thermal resistance, therefore, making it possible to perform thermal measurements at the high power operation. This technique was applied to lateral GaN HEMTs with three different substrates as well as vertical GaN current aperture vertical electron transistor (CAVET) on sapphire, which proved its sensitivity and validity for different device structures and geometries.

  • Upstream and Downstream Analysis of an Optical Fronthaul System Based on DSP-Assisted Channel Aggregation

    摘要: In this paper, we focus on a well-known optical fronthauling architecture based on frequency division multiplexed digital signal processing (DSP)-assisted channel aggregation, and we present new results related to the optimization of the optical setup, proposing an efficient technique for the optimization of the transmission. In particular, we report an original pre-emphasis technique to equalize the performance of the radio channels, especially focusing on the upstream (US) link that has more critical characteristics but has not typically been treated in detail in previous works on this topic. The effects of both radio and optical impairments on the error vector magnitude (EVM) are taken into account. An analytical description of our approach is provided, and then it is applied on an experimental setup (able to aggregate up to 96 20-MHz radio signals), showing the possibility of minimizing the maximum EVM at the output of the fronthauling link, for both downstream and US transmission. Additionally, a low complexity technique to practically estimate the EVM per channel by taking advantage of only the DSP-aggregation/deaggregation functionalities is proposed and, again, experimentally demonstrated.

In this paper we have also compared the blocking probabilities of JET with some fairness protocols with our proposed protocol. A simulated output for effective bandwidth utilization and dropping probabilities of all the outputs are also presented and compared.

    摘要: Already a couple of years ago THz communications have not only become an attractive new research area on channel modeling but also triggered a couple of projects heading to develop appropriate technological solutions to enable the set-up of hardware demonstrators. Also discussions and activities in standardization and regulation already took off. In October 2017, IEEE published Std. IEEE 802.15.3d-2017 the worldwide first wireless communications standard operating in the 300 GHz frequency band. In parallel to the standardization process activities at the ITU-R level targeting on the provision of an appropriate regulatory framework at the World Radio Conference 2019 (WRC-2019) via a dedicated agenda item have taken off. This paper provides a brief overview on the current status of the development of THz Communication systems focusing on recent results on advanced channel characterization at 300 GHz, hardware demonstrators operating in this frequency range, the past and current activities at IEEE 802 and the WRC 2019 preparations.

    摘要: Sea clutters with Doppler-varying spectrum exert a notable negative impact on the detection performance, especially with low-velocity targets, when a passive bistatic radar is employed to detect sea-surface targets. One feasible solution is to modulate the reference signal onto the Doppler dimension and, as such, a filter with a wide notch and sharp edges can be obtained to suppress the residual clutters. However, to achieve this goal, a considerably high computational complexity is demanded in the existing two-dimensional (2D) adaptive filters. In this context, a novel 2D partial-update normalized least mean square algorithm is proposed to reduce the computational load, as well as to yield a superior clutter suppression performance. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is verified by real-data experiments.

    摘要: New spectrum bands together with flexible spectrum management are treated as one of the key technical enablers the so-called key-performance indicators for achievement of defined for 5G wireless networks. In this paper, we deal with the small-scale spectrum aggregation and sharing, where a set of even very narrow and disjoint frequency bands closely located on the frequency axis can be utilized simultaneously. We first discuss how such a scheme can be applied to various multicarrier systems, focusing on the non-contiguous orthogonal frequency division multiplexing and non-contiguous filter-bank multicarrier technique. We propose an interference model that takes into account the limitations of both transmitter and receiver frequency selectivity, and apply it to our 5G link-optimization framework, what differentiates our work from other standard approaches to link adaptation. We present the results of hardware experiments to validate assumed theoretical interference models. Finally, we solve the optimization problem subject to the constraints of maximum interference induced to the protected legacy systems (GSM and UMTS). Results confirm that small-scale spectrum aggregation can provide high throughput even when the 5G system operates in a dense heterogeneous network.

    摘要: Phase manipulation of four-mode phase-sensitive (4MPS) process was developed as a means for suppression of high-order four wave mixing (HoFWM) terms in dual-pump driven parametric wavelength multicasting and, consequently, for reduction of inter-channel crosstalk and inter-channel interference. In contrast to the previous studies that focused on power stabilization and conversion efficiency maximization, the investigation in this paper focuses on the evolution of the inter-channel HoFWM tones, whose suppression can be accomplished by arranging the phases of signals in a complementary manner. In addition, broadband 4MPS multicasting with suppressed HoFWM effects over 100-nm bandwidth, reaching up to 12-dB suppression ratio was demonstrated.
