Comparative Study on Solar Powered Interleaved Boost Converter
摘要: Solar energy is an important source of renewable energy. But, it is unpleasant that, only partial amount of energy can be extracted from the Solar cells by our conventional DC-DC Boost converters. A comparative study on solar powered Interleaving Boost converters (ILBCs) is initiated. A novel Solar powered, Series-Inductor ILBC with less current ripple than the conventional ILBC is proposed. A comparative study on single- stage, two-stage and three-stage ILBCs are done. The comparison of ripple reduction of output voltage is tried with ‘C’, ‘Pi’ and Cascade Filters. The results have been applied to R-Load and motor load. The input of 150V is fed to the ILBC from the solar cell and compared for the ripple. The proposed solar powered series inductor ILBC has reduced ripple than the conventional ILBCs. Comparison table of performance and simulation results of these aforementioned solar powered ILBCs have been exhibited in this paper.

摘要: This paper presents a comparative analysis of three most common ROS-based 2D Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) libraries: Google Cartographer, Gmapping and Hector SLAM, using a metric of average distance to the nearest neighbor (ADNN). Each library was applied to construct a map using data from 2D lidar that was placed on an autonomous mobile robot. All the approaches have been evaluated and compared in terms of inaccuracy constructed maps against the precise ground truth presented by FARO laser tracker in static indoor environment.

摘要: Image aesthetic assessment is important for finding well taken and appealing photographs but is challenging due to the ambiguity and subjectivity of aesthetic criteria. We develop the pairwise aesthetic comparison network (PAC-Net), which consists of two parts: aesthetic feature extraction and pairwise feature comparison. To alleviate the ambiguity and subjectivity, we train PAC-Net to learn the relative aesthetic ranks of two images by employing a novel loss function, called aesthetic-adaptive cross entropy loss. Then, we develop simple schemes for using PAC-Net in the tasks of aesthetic ranking and aesthetic classification, respectively. Experimental results demonstrate that PAC-Net achieves the state-of-the-art performances in both the ranking and classification applications.

Adsorption and photodegradation efficiency of TiO2/Fe2O3/PAC and TiO2/Fe2O3/zeolite nanophotocatalysts for the removal of cyanide
摘要: The synthesized TiO2/Fe2O3 nanostructures supported on powder activated carbon (PAC) and zeolite at different mole ratios of Fe3+/TiO2 were characterized by XRD, XRF, FESEM, EDX, TEM, FTIR, BET and, PL analyses and their cyanide photodegradation mechanism was thoroughly discussed. The results confirmed not only TiO2/Fe2O3/PAC had higher photocatalytic and adsorption capability but also better structural stability and reusability for cyanide removal than TiO2/Fe2O3/zeolite. The first order kinetics model indicated that the photodegradation rate using TiO2/Fe2O3/PAC was 1.3 times higher than that of TiO2/Fe2O3/zeolite. The response surface methodology (RSM) assessment showed that pH, irradiation time and initial cyanide concentration using UV/H2O2/TiO2/Fe2O3/zeolite system had more effects on the degradation respectively; whereas the effectiveness of UV/H2O2/TiO2/Fe2O3/PAC process was highly influenced by initial cyanide concentration than the other two parameters. High R2 and well-fitted residual plots approved the accuracy of the models in predicting the cyanide degradation efficiency using both the photocatalysts.

Instantaneous microwave frequency measurement with high-resolution based on stimulated Brillouin scattering
摘要: A novel photonic method of instantaneous microwave frequency measurement (IMFM) based on Stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) is proposed. The principle of the technique is the employment of SBS effect to amplify/attenuate two adjacent frequency components, which result in a definite amplitude comparison function (ACF). Using this technique, the frequency of an unknown RF signal can be precisely obtained. Experimental results show the measurement capability of the proposed method over a frequency range of 0.47–23 GHz with a higher resolution of 8 MHz.

Fast neutron detectors with silicon photomultiplier readouts
摘要: This work summarizes a fast neutron detection performance of two different silicon photomultipliers from two manufacturers. The first SiPM (MAPD-3NK) from Zecotek Photonics consists of deeply buried cells with the active area 3.7x3.7 mm2. The second one (MPPC-S12572-010P) from Hamamatsu, however, consists of surface cell structure which the active area is 3x3 mm2. Both SiPMs have the same pixel density of 10000 mm-2. Both SiPMs coupled to Stilbene (5*5*5 mm3) and p-terphenyl (5*5*5 mm3) plastic scintillators were evaluated for detection ability of fast neutrons using a PuBe neutron source. Charge comparison and zero crossing neutron/gamma discrimination techniques were performed for these detectors and the results were compared. The obtained results prove a good fast neutron detection performance of the SiPMs which makes it possible to use these types of neutron detectors in fast neutron detection applications.

New method for characterization of retroreflective materials
摘要: The present article aims to propose a new method of analyzing the properties of retroreflective materials using a goniophotometer. The aim is to establish a higher resolution test method with a wide range of viewing angles, taking into account a three-dimensional analysis of the retroreflection of the tested material. The validation was performed by collecting data from specimens collected from materials used in safety clothing and road signs. The approach showed that the results obtained by the proposed method are comparable to the results obtained by the normative protocols, representing an evolution for the metrology of these materials.

Propagation of Electromagnetic Waves in an Open Planar Dielectric Waveguide Filled with a Nonlinear Medium II: TM Waves
摘要: A nonlinear eigenvalue problem on an interval is considered. The nonlinearity in the equation is specified by a nonnegative monotonically increasing function, and the boundary conditions nonlinearly depend both on the sought-for functions and on the spectral parameter. The discrete eigenvalues are defined using an additional (local) condition at one end of the interval. This problem describes the propagation of monochromatic (polarized) electromagnetic TM waves in a planar dielectric waveguide filled with a nonlinear medium. The nonlinearity covers a wide range of laws of nonlinear optics corresponding to self-interaction effects. Results on the solvability of the problem and the properties of the eigenvalues are obtained.
