  • Energetic, economic, and environmental (3??E) performances of high concentrated photovoltaic large scale installations: Focus on spatial analysis of Morocco

    摘要: Producing electricity from a renewable source is a major challenge in Morocco nowadays and high concentrated photovoltaic (HCPV) is becoming an attractive solution to ensure clean energy generation due to its high efficiency. The aim of this paper is to estimate the ? Energetic, economic, and environmental ? performances of large scale HCPV power plants in the major Moroccan climatic zones and to compare their feasibility to PV plants. The mathematical model for estimating the energetic, economic, and environmental performances of large scale HCPV plants is shown, sensitivity and comparison analysis are exhibited. Another goal of the paper is the optimization of the performances of the algorithm through the study of the effect of different parameters. Our major finding is that the large scale HCPV plants are more competitive than PV plants in Errachidia climatic zone where the (capacity factor, LCOE) take the values (26.07%,8.57c$/kWh). Moreover, the capacity factor of large scale HCPV power plants is the most sensitive to the temperature coefficient while the (LCOEnominal, LCOEreal, NPV) are the most sensitive to the analysis period. The quantity of CO2 mitigated reaches a maximal value in the Errachidia zone with 2.59 × 105 tons of carbon per year avoided, and the cost of carbon gained there is estimated to be 10.4 M$. Innovative GIS maps of energetic, economic, and environmental performances of large scale HCPV power plants for all Morocco are given.

  • A new approach for photovoltaic module cooling technique evaluation and comparison using the temperature dependent photovoltaic power ratio

    摘要: Many photovoltaic module cooling techniques are available to reduce the solar cell temperature, resulting in enhanced e?ciency. Although the power of the photovoltaic module is usually reported as a measure for the performance of the cooling technique, the performance assessment and comparison among di?erent coolers become di?cult if di?erent photovoltaic module’s reference power is being utilized. The existing method requires calculations to be done repeatedly to obtain the photovoltaic module’s power, for any given value of the reference power. In order to compare the performance of the coolers, the use of the same reference power is needed, resulting in a lengthy process. Hence, a new assessment method is proposed, based on the temperature dependent photovoltaic module’s power ratio that is de?ned and derived. The new method identi?es the relevant parameters that are essential for measuring the performance of the cooler such as the power of a photovoltaic module with a cooler and the reference power at photovoltaic module’s standard test conditions. The outcome is that the calculation of the unknown power for di?erent reference power can be instantly obtained and the performance comparison among di?erent coolers become simple without going through the lengthy process as it is in the case of the existing method. It is shown that the proposed method has the same results as the existing method which is experimentally validated. This is evidence to support the new method which may have potential to be applied by photovoltaic module cooling techniques designers.

  • Performance evaluation of a new and improved cuvette-based automated urinalysis analyzer with phase contrast microscopy

    摘要: Background: The use of phase contrast in urinalysis has been highly recommended. A new system, sediMAX conTRUST PRO, is now available providing simultaneous automated phase contrast and bright field microscopy. This study aimed to evaluate both analytical and diagnostic performance of this new analyzer. Methods: Results from 504 samples evaluated with the sediMAX conTRUST PRO were compared to those obtained from the same samples by manual microscopy (MM). Analytical and diagnostic performance were assessed according to established guidelines. Results: The concentration of red blood cells (RBCs)and white blood cells (WBCs) at which the LoQ satisfied a CV < 25% was 12 particles per μL (p/μL) and 8 p/μL, respectively. Within one grade of agreement concordance was quite high, 97.8% for RBCs and 98.0% for WBCs, and above 90% for all other particles. Overall, diagnostic sensitivity and specificity were good (> 80%) for the particles considered, although lower sensitivities, 70.6% and 61.8%, were respectively found for hyaline and pathological casts. Conclusions: The sediMAX conTRUST PRO provides very good performance in terms of RBC and WBC recognition and enumeration, and quite good performance for all other particles. Hyaline cast and pathological cast identification is fine and comparable to other automated systems, but could use further improvement.

    摘要: This paper presents a 64 × 2 channel stereo-audio sensing front end with parallel asynchronous event output inspired by the biological cochlea. Each binaural channel performs feature extraction by analog bandpass filtering, and the filtered signal is encoded into events via asynchronous delta modulation (ADM). The channel central frequencies f0 are geometrically scaled across the human hearing range. Two design techniques are highlighted to achieve the high system power efficiency: source-follower-based bandpass filters (BPFs) and asynchronous delta modulation (ADM) with adaptive self-oscillating comparison. The chip was fabricated in 0.18 μm 1P6M CMOS, and occupies an area of 10.5×4.8 mm2. The core cochlea system operating under a 0.5 V power supply consumes 55 μW at an output rate of 100k event/s. The measured range of f0 is from 8 Hz to 20 kHz, and the BPF quality factor Q can be tuned from 1 to almost 40. The 1σ mismatch of f0 and Q between two ears is 3.3% and 15%, respectively, across all channels at Q ≈ 10. Reconstruction of speech input from the event output of the chip is performed to validate the information integrity in event-domain representation, and vowel discrimination is demonstrated as a simple application using histograms of the output events. This type of silicon cochlea front end targets integration with embedded event-driven processors for low-power smart audio sensing with classification capabilities, such as voice activity detection and speaker identification.

    摘要: This works demonstrates an improved local two-way optical phase comparison method. Based on this scheme, we implement a real-time frequency comparison over a bi-directional 200-km fiber spool link with a Bi-EDFA. The achieved relative frequency stability is 9.7E-18 at 1 s integration time and reaches 1.4E-21 at 10,000 s.

  • Two-party quantum private comparison protocol with maximally entangled seven-qubit state

    摘要: Quantum private comparison (QPC), whose security is based on some laws of quantum mechanics (e.g. quantum noncloning theorem and Heisenbergs uncertainty principle), allows n(n ≥ 2) parties who do not trust each other to judge whether their secret data are the same while maintaining data privacy. In this paper, we investigate the utility of the maximally entangled seven-qubit state for QPC, and we propose a new protocol which enables two parties to compare their secret data with each other for equality without disclosing their secret data. In our protocol, single particle measurements and Bell-basis measurements are employed, both of which can be implemented with current technologies. In addition to quantum measurements, our protocol does not use other quantum technologies such as entanglement swapping and unitary operations. A semi-honest third-party who assists two parties in implementing the protocol is assumed in our protocol. Furthermore, we use the entanglement correlations of the maximally entangled seven-qubit state and collaborative computing between parties for privacy protection, and we use quantum key distribution (QKD) to ensure the security of the cooperative computing when two parties are in di?erent locations. What is more, we show that the security towards both outsider and insider attacks can be guaranteed.

  • Comparison of diagnostic performance in assessing the rewiring position into a jailed side branch between online 3D reconstruction systems version 1.1 and 1.2 derived from optical frequency domain imaging

    摘要: The three-dimensional reconstruction of optical coherence tomography and optical frequency domain imaging (3D-OCT/OFDI) helps optimize bifurcation percutaneous coronary interventions (PCIs) with side branch (SB) dilatation by identifying the optimal rewiring position. 3D-OCT/OFDI’s diagnostic performance for assessing the rewiring position into a jailed SB is unknown. We retrospectively evaluated the diagnostic performances of a conventional (ver. 1.1) and a new (ver. 1.2) online 3D-OFDI reconstruction system based on an offline 3D reconstruction system’s performance. We analyzed 45 patients’ 52 OFDI pullbacks with main vessel stenting followed by rewiring into a jailed SB for coronary bifurcation lesions. We counted the undetected stent struts in the polygon of confluence as the stent detection performance. We assessed the diagnostic agreement regarding the rewiring position into a jailed SB by the three 3D reconstruction systems. The percentage of undetected struts and the diagnostic agreement of ver.1.2 were significantly better than those of ver.1.1 [5.1 ± 5.1% vs. 30.2 ± 14.2%; p < 0.0001, and 94.2% (49/52) vs. 76.9% (40/52); p = 0.0120]. The new online 3D-OFDI reconstruction system provides better diagnostic performance than the conventional online system for assessing the rewiring position into a jailed SB.

  • Diagnosis of the surface morphology of laser-ablated materials using the weighted-DCT approach in laser speckle interferometry for application to plasma facing materials

    摘要: A Gram-staining-positive, motile and short-rod-shaped actinobacterium designated 9W16Y-2T was isolated from surface-sterilized leaves of reed (Phragmites australis) collected from Taklamakan Desert in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China. Colonies were pale greenish yellow, circular, smooth, and convex. The 16S rRNA gene sequence of strain 9W16Y-2T exhibited highest sequence similarities with Aeromicrobium camelliae CGMCC 1.12942T (99.0%) and Aeromicrobium erythreum NRRL B-3381T (97.2%). Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene sequences and single-copy phylogenetic marker genes (pMGs) showed that strain 9W16Y-2T belonged to the genus Aeromicrobium and formed a monophyletic clade with Aeromicrobium camelliae CGMCC 1.12942T. Furthermore, average nucleotide identity (ANI) and DNA-DNA hybridization (DDH) clearly separated strain 9W16Y-2T from the other species of the genus Aeromicrobium with values below the thresholds for species delineation. The G+C content of the genomic DNA is 68.9 mol%. The diagnostic diamino acid of the cell-wall peptidoglycan was LL-diaminopimelic acid. The predominant menaquinone was MK-9(H4). The major fatty acids (> 10% of the total fatty acids) were C18:0 10-methyl (TBSA) (28.2%), C16:0 (21.0%), C16:0 2-OH (20.8%) and C18:1 ω9c (12.8%). The polar lipid profile comprised diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylinositol, an unidentified aminophospholipid and an unidentified lipid. Based on the phylogenetic, phenotypic and chemotaxonomic features, strain 9W16Y-2T represents a novel species of the genus Aeromicrobium, for which the name Aeromicrobium endophyticum sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is 9W16Y-2T (= CGMCC 1.13876T = JCM 33141T).

    摘要: Selection of appropriate features is important for classification of urban materials using hyperspectral data. Urban materials lack dominant diagnostic absorption and hence features representing complete spectrum are likely to provide better classification performance. Furthermore, selection of appropriate features for a given data requires empirical assessment. In the present work, we introduce artificial color features that take into account complete spectrum. In addition to the color features, we use reflectance values of all the noise free wavelengths of EO-1 Hyperion (set A), and a wavelength set H = {445, 576, 638, 759, 1100, 1316, 1989} reported in literature. We classify EO-1 Hyperion image of Pune city using multiple classifiers and compare their outcome. The color values, set A, and H provide similar results. Set H and color features results in minor drop of accuracies in urban classes such as industrial roofs and residential concrete roofs.

  • Numerical Study of a Hybrid Optical DMT/DFT-S QAM Modulation

    摘要: A hybrid modulation offers the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) robustness of discrete Fourier transform spread (DFT-S) QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) with the bit rate optimization of discrete multi-tone (DMT) modulation. We examine via simulation under what circumstances this hybrid can increase achievable bit rate. Hybrid PAPR reduction allows us to increase the peak-to-peak voltage at the modulator electrical input to increase the signal mean power at the modulator output. We propose a methodology to identify the optimal driving strategy. We optimize the bit rate for the available spectrum, i.e., the spectral efficiency, taking into account the bandwidth limited nature of the transmitter. The final optimization we propose is the partition of the available spectrum into a lower frequency band for DFT-S QAM and a higher frequency band for DMT. The modulation level of the DFT-S QAM is also optimized. We compare the optimal hybrid performance versus DMT performance for a range of bit rates for a given modulation bandwidth. Improved performance comes at the cost of greater DSP complexity for the hybrid solution. We compare the number of complex multipliers required to implement hybrid versus DMT for both dispersive and non-dispersive systems.
