Electric field mediated large valley splitting in the van der Waals heterostructure WSe <sub/>2</sub> /CrI <sub/>3</sub>
摘要: In contrast to commonly used means such as the magnetic field, here an electric field is used to achieve a large valley splitting in the van der Waals (vdW) heterostructure WSe2/CrI3. CrI3 contributes to the spin moment. The electric field pushes the valence bands of Cr atoms close to those of the W atoms associated with pseudospin so that they can interact through the exchange interaction. The opposite helicities of pseudospin at the K and K′ points realize a valley splitting as large as 10.5 meV under an electric field of 0.1 V ??1. The underlying physics stems from the interlayer charge transfer, where the spin conservation plays a role.

摘要: This paper reviews the application of second harmonic generation (SHG) to characterize dielectric-semiconductor interfaces in microelectronics and photovoltaics. Based on non-linear optics, the method is non-destructive, so particularly advantageous for thin films. The theoretical background shows the possibility to access the electric field at interfaces and consequently to have a non-destructive measurement for interface state densities or fixed charges in oxides. Two more detailed examples of application of SHG characterization will be shown: passivation of silicon using thin film deposited alumina and interface analysis of silicon-on-insulator substrates.

摘要: The convolution quadrature discretized Time Domain-Electric Field Integral Equation (TD-EFIE) suffers from: (i) an ill-conditioning of the system matrix at large time steps (low frequency) and (ii) spurious static currents that slowly grow or remain constant at late times (DC instability). A stabilization procedure that solves these two problems is presented here for discretizations based on Implicit Runge Kutta methods. It leverages quasi-Helmholtz projectors in order to separate the loop and star components, and rescale them independently to remove the instabilities.

Electric field-induced creation and directional motion of domain walls and skyrmion bubbles
摘要: Magnetization dynamics driven by an electric field could provide long-term benefits to information technologies because of its ultralow power consumption. Meanwhile, the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction in interfacially asymmetric multilayers consisting of ferromagnetic and heavy-metal layers can stabilize topological spin textures, such as chiral domain walls, skyrmions, and skyrmion bubbles. These topological spin textures can be controlled by an electric field, and hold promise for building advanced spintronic devices. Here, we present an experimental and numerical study on the electric field-induced creation and directional motion of topological spin textures in magnetic multilayer films and racetracks with thickness gradient and interfacial Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction at room temperature. We find that the electric field-induced directional motion of chiral domain wall is accompanied with the creation of skyrmion bubbles at certain conditions. We also demonstrate that the electric field variation can induce motion of skyrmion bubbles. Our findings may provide opportunities for developing skyrmion-based devices with ultralow power consumption.

Electric field modified Arrhenius description of charge transport in amorphous oxide semiconductor thin film transistors
摘要: While it is known that the charge-carrier mobility in amorphous metal oxide semiconductor thin ?lm transistors (TFT) deviates from Arrhenius temperature dependence, we found that the Hall mobility measured in amorphous In-Ga-Zn-O (a-IGZO) follows an Arrhenius relation surprisingly well. We explain these observations by the effect of strong vertical electric ?eld created by the gate voltage, which facilitates direct tunneling of trapped carriers into the conductive band and leads to virtually temperature independent mobility. We present a generalized Arrhenius model based on the effective temperature concept. We show that our model allows quantitative description of the temperature dependence of the mobility in a-IGZO TFTs over a broad temperature range.

Stark shift of excitons and trions in two-dimensional materials
摘要: The effect of an external in-plane electric ?eld on neutral and charged exciton states in two-dimensional (2D) materials is theoretically investigated. These states are argued to be strongly bound, so that electron-hole dissociation is not observed up to high electric ?eld intensities. Trions in the anisotropic case of monolayer phosphorene are demonstrated to be especially robust under electric ?elds, so that ?elds as high as 100 kV/cm yield no signi?cant effect on the trion binding energy or probability density distribution. Polarizabilities of excitons are obtained from the parabolicity of numerically calculated Stark shifts. For trions, a fourth order Stark shift is observed, which enables the experimental veri?cation of hyperpolarizability in 2D materials, as observed in the highly excited states of the Rydberg series of atoms and ions.
