    摘要: This paper provides an overview of the main features of several bibliometric indicators which were proposed in the last few decades. Their pros and cons are highlighted and compared with the features of the well-known impact factor (IF) to show how alternative metrics are speci?cally designed to address the ?aws that the IF was shown to have, especially in the last few years. We also report the results of recent studies in the bibliometric literature showing how the scienti?c impact of journals as evaluated by bibliometrics is a very complicated matter and it is completely unrealistic to try to capture it by any single indicator, such as the IF or any other. As such, we conclude that the adoption of more metrics, with complementary features, to assess journal quality would be very bene?cial as it would both offer a more comprehensive and balanced view of each journal in the space of scholarly publications, as well as eliminate the pressure on individuals and their incentive to do metric manipulation which is an unintended result of the current (mis)use of the IF as the gold standard for publication quality.

  • Morphologically modulated laser-patterned reduced graphene oxide strain sensors for human fatigue recognition

    摘要: Laser heating provides an effective method to produce thermally reduced graphene oxide (rGO), it can also pattern the designed layout on the surface of graphene oxide (GO) during the reduction process. In this work, we demonstrated a flexible strain sensor based on the morphologically modulated laser-patterned reduced graphene oxide (LPG) film with a one-step process. Compared with the strain sensor using flat patterned rGO (0-1.2%) and curved-grid patterned rGO (CGPG) (0-4.1%), the strain sensor based on rectangular-grid patterned rGO (RGPG) have highest gauge factor (GF), up to 133 under 2.7% of physical deformation. Meanwhile, the RGPG strain sensors exhibit extraordinary linearity in a relatively large range of deformation (0-2.7%) and excellent endurance for over 1000 stretching-releasing circles. The RGPG strain sensor was used to monitor human fatigue. By analyzing eye blinking frequency and duration, it is possible to evaluate the fatigue level. We anticipate that the RGPG based strain sensor, prepared via a relatively simple and cost-effective process, may open up a broad spectrum of practical applications, such as driver fatigue evaluation and smart monitoring of human body movements.

  • Approach for dimensioning stand-alone photovoltaic systems

    摘要: The intermittent nature of renewable energy sources has attracted much interest for integrating storage devices towards the deployment of micro-grid systems. In fact, these devices could be deployed into the system by decoupling energy production from consumption mainly by storing the extra produced energy from RES during the day for eventual usage at night. However, for standalone systems, computing the optimum size of energy production systems and storage devices is required for continuous electricity supply. In this paper, a micro-grid system is modeled, sized, and experimented according to a given consumption profile using a deployed prototype at our EEBLab.

    摘要: Internationally, the technology of optical earth observation satellite is developing in the direction of miniaturization, high-resolution and high maneuverability. High-precision on-orbit geometric calibration of the imaging sensors is the most important guarantee of interior geometric quality and direct positioning accuracy of the satellite images. The high-resolution camera of Chinese Mapping Satellite-1 is a multi-chip TDICCD optical sensor in triangular mechanical staggered stitching structure. To improve the accuracy and robustness of its geometric calibration while reducing the correlation between calibration parameters, this paper proposed a new multi-chip pointing angle model for internal calibration and an optimized imaging model for external calibration. The overlapping connection relation between multi-chip TDICCDs of an image and multi-scene images are fully utilized for constructing the calibration error equations with constraints. Then, the internal and external calibration are iteratively solved through relaxation block adjustment method. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed rigorous on-orbit geometric calibration method can effectively and stably eliminate various system errors of the imaging system, thus improving the interior and exterior geometric quality of image production.

  • Irradiation and dosimetry arrangement for a radiobiological experiment employing laser-accelerated protons

    摘要: The Bragg Peak is a unique characteristic of ion beams which makes their use beneficial in cancer treatment as it allows the majority of dose deposition to be localised in a precise volume. The use of a laser system for particle acceleration is currently investigated as a potential alternative to the conventional RF accelerators currently used for hadrontherapy. The biological response of cells irradiated by high dose-rate laser-driven ions is currently being explored in this context. The experiment reported here was carried out as part of the A-SAIL project, a UK-wide collaboration aiming to develop innovative techniques for accelerating ions for future clinical applications. In this contest, a radiobiological experiment was carried out on the pico2000 laser beamline at LULI-école Polytechnique using an energetically spread, laser-accelerated proton beam. This paper will discuss the arrangement used in the experiment, and the techniques employed for an accurate estimation of the dose deposited, supported by Monte Carlo simulations of the particle propagation through the irradiation system.

  • A first realization of ASTM E3125-17 test procedures for laser scanner performance evaluation

    摘要: Spherical coordinate three-dimensional (3D) imaging systems, such as Terrestrial Laser Scanners (TLS), are already used widely in different fields. Their measurement performance evaluation is a topic of active research. In 2017, the first comprehensive documentary standard describing performance evaluation methods and procedures for TLS systems, the ASTM E3125-17, was released. In this paper, we report on the first realization of the test procedures per that standard. We briefly discuss the test procedures and then describe the materials and methods used to realize the tests. We then discuss the test measurands (the quantities of interest in the testing procedure), present the test values (the measured values of the test measurands), and the test value uncertainties (uncertainties in the testing process, which is typically the uncertainty in the reference length). The work described in this paper will serve as a useful reference for understanding and implementing the ASTM E3125-17 standard.

  • Speckle evaluation in laser display: From speckle contrast to speckle influence degree

    摘要: Speckle contrast (SC) is universally used to evaluate speckle in laser display, which has virtues of briefness in calculating and definitude in physical meaning. But the results characterized by SC is usually inconsistent with human visual perception. In this study, an alternative framework for speckle evaluation, speckle influence degree (SID), is developed. It considers the effects of SC, sampling rate, and image resolution on perceived speckle by human eyes. Theoretical analysis is firstly conducted. Then, speckle images of different sampling rate, SC, and image resolution are generated and calculated. Finally, SID is shown to be a more comprehensive metric that could characterize the influence of sampling rate and image resolution and that is better matched with subjective perception of human eyes than SC.

  • Nd:YAP laser in the treatment of dentinal hypersensitivity: An ex vivo study.

    摘要: Purpose: The aims of this ex vivo study were to evaluate the effectiveness of the Nd:YAP laser in the treatment of dentin hypersensitivity, to compare the temperature rise during laser irradiation at three different dentine thicknesses, and to analyse the composition of the dentine-lased surface. Methods: A total of 33 teeth were used in this study. For scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observation, 24 teeth were transversely sectioned and divided into 4 groups: group A was irrigated with EDTA; group B was irradiated by Nd:YAP laser with 180 mJ energy/per pulse, 0.9 W average power, and 5 Hz frequency (power density [PD] = 229 W/cm2); group C was irradiated by Nd:YAP laser with 280 mJ energy/pulse, 1.4 W average power, and 5 Hz frequency (PD = 356 W/cm2); and group D was irradiated by Nd:YAP with 360 mJ energy/pulse, 1.8 W average power, and 5 Hz frequency (PD = 458W/cm2). Energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) analysis was performed on the same teeth evaluated for SEM observations. For temperature increase evaluation performed with thermocouples, 9 teeth were transversely sectioned at 3 different thicknesses (3 for each group) of 1, 2, and 3 mm. Results: Statistical analysis showed significant changes in the diameter of the dentinal tubule orifices among all groups; EDS did not show modification of the Ca/P ratio. Temperature increase under irradiation exceeded 5.5°C only in the group D samples. Conclusions: This ex vivo study, based on temperature recording, SEM observation, and EDS analysis, demonstrated that Nd:YAP laser at a PD of 356 W/cm2, corresponding to an average power of 1.4 W, defines the best treatment for dentine hypersensitivity in terms of compromise between efficacy of the treatment and safety of the pulp.

  • An Evaluation of the Effect on the Expansion of Photovoltaic Power Generation According to Renewable Energy Certificates on Energy Storage Systems: A Case Study of the Korean Renewable Energy Market

    摘要: As part of efforts to cope with climate change, countries around the world have decided to supply photovoltaic (PV) power. However, since the integration of PV affects the reliability and stability of a power system, increasing the penetration of PV generation requires better system flexibility. For this reason, many countries have recently established policies to disseminate energy storage systems (ESS). In this paper, we aim to evaluate the effectiveness of policies regarding ESS as a way to increase PV integration. We analyzed whether the policies were effective in spreading ESS to eventually increase PV integration. To do this, we first described the Korean government’s policy of establishing a profit structure for ESS through the Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) market and analyzed its effects on economic feasibility. We also analyzed how much the investment in ESS for PV integration has risen and assessed the contribution of spreading ESS to disseminate PV power. We found that ESS for the integration of PV have grown to a 41.0% share of Korea’s ESS market in kW, and 32.8% in kWh, while expanding the PV market by 13.7%.

  • Seasonal experimental study of a hybrid photovoltaic-water/air solar wall system

    摘要: Traditional BIPVT systems are faced with the seasonal use issues that they run efficiently only during certain parts of the year, and perform poorly or even out of service for the rest of the time. To overcome the problems, this paper performs several tasks as follows. (1) A hybrid photovoltaic-water/air solar wall (HPSW) system is presented, which combines the air cooling channel and water cooling channel together in one single BIPVT system. (2) The HPSW system can run three modes according to different seasonal needs of the building: ① PV/Air mode in winter, ② PV/Water mode in summer, ③ PV-water/air mixing mode in transition season, which means that the new system is able to satisfy annual demands of the buildings. (3) The HPSW system were experimentally tested in different seasons under different modes during a whole year. (4) The results showed that the all-day average electrical efficiency can reach 15.3% by PV/Air mode in winter, 7.8% in summer and 11.6% in transition season by PV/Water mode. The average daily power generation of the system in summer, transition season and winter was 973.0kJ, 3226.4kJ and 4460.5kJ, respectively. As for thermal performance, the PV/Water mode performed well both summer and transition seasons, with the average thermal efficiency of 55.1% and 51.5% respectively. The temperature rise of experimental room reached 8.1℃ compared to the reference room in winter. The results proves that the HPSW system can operate efficiently as expected throughout the year and has great value in different seasons and different regions.
