  • Room Temperature Synthesis of Nanocubic CuInSe2 Thin Films

    摘要: The arrested precipitation technique (APT) is used to deposit CuInSe2 thin films. The deposition of thin films is carried out at room temperature. The optical study reveals direct allowed type of transition for CuInSe2 thin films. The XRD pattern confirms mixed phase of CuInSe2 thin films. The SEM image reveals nanocubic thin film formation. The EDS analysis confirms presence of copper, indium and selenium elements in the synthesized thin film. The synthesized thin films are beneficial for the solar cell applications.

  • The Study of Electroluminescence and Reliability of Polyimide Films in High DC Fields

    摘要: Electroluminescence (EL) intensity of the polyimide (PI) films was tested under dc high electric field by home-made experimental device. The results showed that the EL intensity of PI films increased along with the electric field. EL intensity is approximately to background intensity when the electric-field intensity was less than 2.00 MV/cm. EL intensity increases along with increasing the electric field when electric-field intensity greater than 2.00 MV/cm. When electric-field at 2.80 MV/cm, EL intensity increasing strongly suggests that the excitation process related to hot electrons accelerated by the field approaching a critical threshold. Meanwhile, this work elaborates a method to deal with identical samples get different experimental data by using Weibull distribution method, and the concept of the reliability was presented. The nine groups of EL experimental data were analyzed, and the result showed that the lifetime of mid-value (t = 164.9 min). Mid-value of the breakdown field is E = 2.76 MV/cm.

  • Effect of Co component in Co-Ag granular thin films on visible-light reflection applied by magnetic field

    摘要: The reflection of visible light (wavelength from 350 to 800 nm) on magnetic granular thin films Cox-Ag1-x with x from 0 to 35 at % was studied. Dependence of reflection (R) is strong on magnetic and percentage of Co in the thin films, R strongly increase in wavelengths 560 and 660 nm. In this paper, some arguments relating to the spin-plasmon phenomenon were used to explain the results.

  • Harnessing the synergy between upconverting nanoparticles and lanthanide complexes in a multi-wavelength responsive hybrid system

    摘要: We prepared a hybrid system composed of a continuous film of dinuclear lanthanide complex [Ln2bpm(tfaa)6] (Ln = Tb or Eu) and upconverting nanoparticles (UCNPs) using a straightforward drop-cast methodology. The system displayed visible emission under near-infrared (NIR) excitation, simultaneously stemming from sub-10-nm UCNPs and [Ln2] complexes, the latter species being otherwise directly excitable only using UV-blue radiation. In light of the results of steady-state – including power-dependent – and time-resolved optical measurements, we identified the radiative, primarily ligand-mediated nature of the energy transfer from Tm3+ ions in the UCNPs-to-Ln3+ ions in the complexes. Hyperspectral mapping and electron microscopy observations of the surface of the hybrid system confirmed the continuous and concomitant distribution of UCNPs and lanthanide complexes over the extensive composite films. Key features of the hybrid system are the simultaneous UV-blue and NIR light harvesting capabilities and their ease of preparation. These traits render the presented hybrid system a formidable candidate for the development of photoactivated devices capable to operate under multiple excitation wavelength and to transduce the absorbed light into narrow, well-defined spectral regions.

  • A Comparative Study of Gas Sensing Properties of Tungsten Oxide, Tin Oxide and Tin-Doped Tungsten Oxide Thin Films for Acetone Gas Detection

    摘要: Nowadays, various metal oxide thin films have been used for the purpose of gas sensing. This research depicts a comparison of gas sensing properties among four different metal oxide thin films, namely, tungsten dioxide (WO2), tungsten trioxide (WO3), tin oxide (SnO2) and tin doped tungsten trioxide (Sn-doped WO3), for detecting acetone gas. Each metal oxide thin film was subjected to acetone gas flow of various concentrations and the corresponding changes in resistance were calculated. Characterizations such as x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and gas sensing characterization for recording resistance changes have been performed. Each film was annealed at different temperatures for 1 h (WO2 and WO3 at 500°C, SnO2 at 300°C and Sn-doped WO3 at 400°C) so as to achieve an optimum grain size for sensing. The XRD patterns reveal formation of an orthorhombic phase of WO2, hexagonal phase of WO3 and orthorhombic phase of SnO2. AFM and SEM depict clear images of grain boundaries on the film. SnO2 has been found to be the best thin film for sensing acetone gas. Operational optimum temperature for sensing acetone gas has been calculated for each thin film (260°C for WO2, 220°C for WO3, 360°C for SnO2 and 300°C for Sn-doped WO3). It can detect a very low concentration of 1.5 ppm acetone gas with a good resistance response change of 30%. Various concentrations of acetone gas, namely, 1.5 ppm, 3 ppm, 5 ppm, 7 ppm, 10 ppm, 15 ppm and 20 ppm, have been detected using these metal oxide thin films, and thus the comparison has been made. The response time for SnO2 is approximately 3 min and recovery time is approximately 4 min.

  • Electrospun nanostructured Co3O4/BiVO4 composite films for photoelectrochemical applications

    摘要: Co3O4/BiVO4 (Co/BiV) based nanostructured photoanode films were fabricated by simple facile electrospinning method and were characterized by a variety of techniques. It was found that the films have web-linked structure, composed of BiVO4 and Co3O4 nanostructures. The photoanode was used for the photoelectrochemical (PEC) degradation of bisphenol-A (BPA) by illumination at 0.25 V vs. SCE assisted by 1 mM peroxymonosulfate (PMS). The removal percentage of BPA was enhanced to 96% for the Co/BiV film that was much better than that of BiVO4 film, which was 48%. The pseudo-first kinetic constants were raised from 0.1126 min?1 to 0.4714 min?1, respectively. The enhanced PEC performance of Co/BiV films can be attributed its p-n heterojunction setup and synergetic contribution of PMS, which efficiently inhibits the recombination of photogenerated electron-hole pairs. The free radicals quenching experiment and electron spin resonance suggested that the major reactive oxygen species were photogenerated holes, superoxide radicals and sulfate radicals. These findings demonstrate that PMS assisted Co/BiV films, are good candidates for PEC application in environmental purification.

  • Electrode Dependence of Local Electrical Properties of Chemical-Solution-Deposition-Derived BiFeO <sub/>3</sub> Thin Films

    摘要: The nanoscale electrical properties of chemical solution deposition(CSD)-derived BiFeO3 grown on pulsed laser ablated La0.67Sr0.33MnO3//SrTiO3 (001) thin film heterostructures are investigated using a host of scanning probe microscopy techniques, including electrostatic force microscopy(EFM), scanning Kelvin probe microscopy(SKPM), piezoresponse force microscopy (PFM), and conductive AFM(CAFM). EFM and SKPM confirm the p-type nature of the CSD derived BFO thin films as well as charge accumulation at the film surface after electrical bias. For BiFeO3 films of a fixed thickness (~35 nm), the local current-voltage (I-V) behavior obtained by CAFM is strongly dependent on the La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 bottom electrode thickness. BiFeO3 films on a 20 nm thick La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 demonstrate the typical switchable diode behavior governed by polarization orientation. However, when the thickness of La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 is reduced to less than 5 nm, the BiFeO3 films show only forward diode behaviors regardless of polarization orientation, when the applied bias is up to ±4 V. Higher sweep bias (i.e. ±8V) breaks down the diode, following which the BiFeO3 film shows strong resistive switching. The interface band structure for the ultra-thin LSMO case, which is very sensitive to accumulation/depletion of carriers at the BFO-LSMO interface, is suggested as the trigger for this resistive switching.

  • Oxynitride Thin Films versus Particle-Based Photoanodes: a Comparative Study for Photoelectrochemical Solar Water Splitting

    摘要: The solar water splitting process assisted by semiconductor photocatalysts attracts growing research interests worldwide for the production of hydrogen as a clean and sustainable energy carrier. Due to their optical and electrical properties several oxynitride materials show great promise for the fabrication of efficient photocatalysts for solar water splitting. This study reports a comparative investigation of particle- and thin films-based photocatalysts using three different oxynitride materials. The absolute comparison of the photoelectrochemical activities favors the particle-based electrodes due to the better absorption properties and larger electrochemical surface area. However, thin films surpass the particle-based photoelectrodes due to their more suitable morphological features that improve the separation and mobility of the photo-generated charge carriers. Our analysis identifies what specific insights into the properties of materials can be achieved with the two complementary approaches.

In this manuscript, we are using PLD to reduce the corrosion rate of the stainless steel 304 in hydrochloric acid with the concentration of 1 M and the immersion time of 4 minutes at room temperature. This method opens prospects to use the enhanced stainless steel for many electronics and manufacturing applications.

  • Short-Period Multilayer X-ray Mirrors for “Water” and “Carbon Windows” Wavelengths

    摘要: This review paper summarizes and provides an overview of our recent studies related to two types of short-period multilayer X-ray mirrors, W/B4C and Co/C. It deals with the experimental observation of the layer intermixing effects and how they affect the X-ray mirror's optical performance. The paper presents also some examples of using the fabricated X-ray mirrors in focusing and imaging experiments at the working wavelengths 2.48 nm and 4.47 nm.
