The study demonstrates that mid-IR dispersion spectroscopy is a viable alternative to absorption spectroscopy for liquid samples, offering linearity with concentration and robustness against laser intensity noise. Future improvements include better temperature stabilization and miniaturization of the setup.

The current setup is highly susceptible to temperature fluctuations, leading to experimental drawbacks such as phase noise and inconsistency in dispersion spectra. Hysteresis effects of the piezo crystal also limit the reproducibility of measurements with the moving piezo method.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study employs an EC-QCL based Mach–Zehnder interferometer setup for recording mid-IR dispersion spectra of liquid samples. Two methods for acquiring refractive index spectra are introduced and compared.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Liquid samples including ethanol and solutions of glucose, fructose, and sucrose in water were used. FT-IR absorption spectra were recorded for comparison.
